Question of the Day - February 17

It's... WOOHOO WEDNESDAY!!

Every Wednesday we take a break from discussions to post about things that are making us "woohoo!"
No celebration is too big or too small. It can be about anything - the sky is the limit.

What are you celebrating on WooHoo Wednesday?

Well.......my major WOOHOO is my new countdown banner!! And my second woohoo is that I did an EVENING weigh-in for my job last night and it was the first time in a VERY, VERY long time that I have actually been within the 2 pound limit of my "official" WW goal/employment number! Honestly, unless you are up significantly and for a long time, they don't usually say much.... but I've been kind of waiting to get my hand slapped about being over that 2 pound "flex" area (I wasn't thinking it out when I named my goal number when I filled out my paperwork....I was thinking of my "Friday-morning-naked-on-the-scale-at-home" number rather than my "evening-after-snacks-with-clothes-on" number.... so I struggle to stay within my work goal). But now I'm good for another 30+ days! And third woohoo....... new season of SURVIVOR starts tonight!!! My absolute favorite tv show ever is back!!

********************************************

It's been a trying day here at school...... difficult class (behavior wise) and for some strange reason I am suddenly totally craving a big COOKIE right now! That is actually pretty unusual for me! I had a Lifesaver, but it didn't help much..... I've been tweaking my peanut butter mug cake recipe lately and it seems like a good night for another "trial" cake! ::yes:: Dinner is NOT planned yet.... I wasn't sure about the robotics schedule since it is down to the wire for build season, so I never know if/when the men will be home. But I've got some roasted peppers, cooked chopped beef, and fresh broccoli.... so I may do a stir-fry of sorts. Or just wing it with sandwiches and veggie burgers for the men and make myself some roasted sweet potatoes!

BBL tonight to chat I hope!....................P

Not much to woohoo about today thanks to the scale. I have this little pattern going of going up on Wed mornings. Not a big deal because I know it will come off, but subtraction is much better than addition. Plus, I have three parent meetings this afternoon... can't wait until 3:30!

My good news is that I get to go to a coaching conference in St Louis this weekend. I'll head down Friday morning and my wife will join me Saturday after she does some shopping downtown. It's an annual event and it's the one weekend where it's just my wife and I without the kids.

My bad news is that I will be in St Louis this weekend away from the treadmill and surrounded by great Italian food, adult beverages, and reservations to Ruth's Chris Steak House for Saturday night. Praying that I can just break even!

My whoo hoo for the day is that my hubs started his new job yesterday and likes it... Same company just a different position in different building, they hand picked him and he was quite nervous (his epilepsy has causes him short term memory loss which makes him anxious when doing anything new because it takes longer to stick) the crew he is working with however is very nice and I told him to explain it so they would know why he ask the same thing 16 times a day LOL.. Nothing whoo hoo for me really... my eating is still a bit out of control (and I paid for it in the middle of the night last night!) still not really moving any more than before, just hanging on by my fingernails till our CC’s show on the credit reports with a big fat zero to get the ball moving on the home loan..

Courtney. We liked Winterland Summerland because parts of it is covered. The other one is all out in the sun so if it is hot that is not a great place.

LeCellier is lovely. It is dark and very romantic. The restaurant in the Mexico pavillion is very romantic. For something fun we loved dinner in The Land. It is a character but the setbup of the restaurant makes it a very intimate and quiet.

So... today is a bit of a rough day. We did our taxes last night and determined that we owe.... a lot. We had considered canceling our May trip but decided that we could just scale it back a bit and still have a great time.

A few questions for all of you:
  1. Has anyone done the "Fantasia Gardens" or "Winter Summerland" mini golf courses? if so - which did you like better?
  2. What is the nicest sit down restaurant you can think of at WDW that isn't Victoria and Alberts? We have Tables in Wonderland, so cost isn't an issue - we just want one nice dinner. Any theme for cuisine is great.

We did Fantasia Garden in November and it was fun. Thinking of doing the Winter Summerland in April pre cruise if we have time.

Most of our dinners have been decided for taking our kids. Sanaa was really good and would so it again for sure. My parents went to Paris for Dinner and said it was also really good.

  • Has anyone done the "Fantasia Gardens" or "Winter Summerland" mini golf courses? if so - which did you like better?

We did Fantasia Gardens last month and thought it was cute. It was cute without being too gimicky. There were a few of the "you have to try to get it into a particular spot" type holes, but not all of them are that way, and the hole descriptions give you clues. I'd definitely do it again.
We've never done Winter Summerland, so I can't compare the two.

My biggest woohoo is I got a brand new office chair and I am sitting so comfortably typing right now! I have had all the hand-me-down chairs at work and they were awful, so my back is so relieved right now haha! I am just in love with this chair!

A few questions for all of you:

I can't speak to the mini golf. DH and I tried to go one weekend last Feb. and the wait was two hours so we left. Keep that in mind just in case it's busy when you go!

As for dinner, my top choices would be Yachtsman (just heavenly delicious!!! This is our default "nice dinner" at WDW) or California Grill Brunch. I understand they just started brunch up there and DH and I lucked into a day of reservation on Valentines. I doubt it will be so easy once the secret gets out as to how amazing it was. You are greeted with a welcome cocktail and there is live music (upright base and piano playing jazz intermingled with the occasional Disney tune). The buffet items were delicious and then you order a main entree as well. Not to mention a bloody mary bar that was out of this world. And of course the view..... *sigh* I'm already sweet talking DH into taking me back. We had Narcoosee's as well this past weekend and it was very good and nice view of MK on the water and all.

IL MULINO IL MULINO IL MULINO. It's so yummy.

Hi everyone :wave2:! I'm new here and I've spent the last couple of hours reading through your great thread. It's been awhile ago, but I think at the beginning of this thread it said anyone could join and it could even be in the middle of the month... Well, if that's the case, I'd love to join in here.

An introduction to myself: I'm 45 years old and will have been married for 24 years this summer. DH and I have 3 kids - our oldest DD started college this past fall, our DD2 is a senior this year and heading off to her college this coming fall and our DS is 13 and in the 8th grade. We live in Illinois, about an hour north of St. Louis in southern/central Illinois.

I've struggled with weight my entire adult life. I need to loose around 100 pounds and just typing that out is very hard to do. How did I get here?!?

This morning I started tracking on My Fitness Pal and hope that it along with this thread will help keep me motivated and losing. My goal is to lose 2 pounds a week. - Since it's the middle of the month, I'm not sure if I should send in a percentage of goal or just wait until March to start that part. My family, along with my sister's family and my mom are going to Hawaii this summer for 2 weeks. That is also part of my motivation. I know I can't get anywhere near my goal weight be the time we leave, but if I could lose the 2 pounds each week, I could lose 34 pounds before our trip. Even that would make a big difference.

I'm excited to be joining everyone, you all seem like such a friendly group!

It's... WOOHOO WEDNESDAY!!

Every Wednesday we take a break from discussions to post about things that are making us "woohoo!"
No celebration is too big or too small. It can be about anything - the sky is the limit.

What are you celebrating on WooHoo Wednesday?
My WhooHoo is that we are a week into Lent and I've been able to get in my 15,000 steps a day every single day. The weekend was particularly tough, I didn't have a block of time to walk extensively so I felt like I never sat down. But the weekdays are going OK. Today I was done by 3:00pm, so 8 days down, 32 to go until Easter!

99% of the time, I'm not even hungry. That's what I hate - why am I eating junk if I'm not even hungry?!

I'm with you - I do this too sometimes I think its boredom - I'm amazed at how full I can feel sometimes but still think I have to squeeze in a piece of chocolate!

:welcome: HI @ski_mom glad to meet you. I can't remember if I introduced myself properly this month but I'm a 43 year old mum of 3 joining in from Australia. I completely understand that - How did I get here feeling!! The idea of a holiday and all those holiday pics can be a good motivator - so good luck.

My Woo Hoo Wednesday is that I joined MFP - I just used the same name as I have on here 4Mickeys - seemed easier than thinking of a different username lol.
I made a really yummy fried rice last night with lots of good veggies in it - when I make fried rice a couple of weeks ago it was a horrible mess lol.
I found a new fruit I like - a Queen Garnet plum - they are dark red and nice and sweet - and here's the best thing they reportedly have weight loss and health benefits beyond just being a fruit lol.
My twins turned 12 on Tuesday - and we had a Ben & Jerry's ice cream cake - OMG was it yum - it was chocolate and cookies and cream ice cream with Oreo cookies on top and in it! That was my big slip up for the week but so worth it lol - I did eat only watermelon for lunch in anticipation of it though.

Have a good rest of the week everyone :P

Sorry to hear that! I absolutely adore Jiko and Flying Fish. I think FF will still be closed in May. I think Jiko is a very special place with its African culture inspired decor (ask your greeter to explain all the design to you) and the menu that always has African spices and influences mixed in. You can make a destination meal out of it with checking out all the savannas and a drink at the bar after dinner. Really good African wines, too!

reservations to Ruth's Chris Steak House for Saturday night.

You may be able to ask your server about substituting some of the 'bad things' for healthier options, or getting entres with the sauce on the side? Then you can dip your fork in the sauce before digging into your entre. :)

my hubs started his new job yesterday and likes it

YAY! I am going to keep my fingers crossed for you - this month seems like the stars are aligning and you'll get that home in no time.

The other one is all out in the sun so if it is hot that is not a great place.

We'll be there during the last week of May, so Winter Summerland it is. THANK YOU!

We are an active bunch - welcome aboard. Just dive into the conversation and enjoy finding your new Directive with Wall-E and Eve this month.

I just wanted to give a major shout out to everyone in this thread for being awesome. I woke up bummed this morning about the changes and shifts to our May trip schedule -- and all of your ideas are actually making me more excited for the trip. Mini Golf afternoon is much more realistic than spa day, and we scored a great reservation for Narcoossee's at around 8pm. We may work it out to watch Wishes from the restaurant -- which i still have NOT seen! (We just don't want to do 5 days of Parks... our down day was the one that changed).

So my WooHoo Wednesday is in celebration of all of YOU lovely people.

Welcome, welcome, welcome!! So glad to hear from a newbie! Just jump right into the chatter! Answering the QOTD is a great way to start chatting with us! You can handle your goal for February however you would like.... set a "short" goal to get you to the end of the month, or just jump in and get friendly for now and wait to set a goal for March. You may be amazed what you can lose in 16 weeks with the right motivation! Aim high!

***************************

Home and contemplating my earlier cookie craving. Had some veggies leftover from the stir-fry I made for the men and then a big bowl (7 oz) of roasted sweet potatoes for dinner. Should have tracked them BEFORE I ate them because I am realizing that I didn't leave myself any dinner SP for protein. Maybe that mug cake won't be happening tonight. I'll go do the math and see what I have left for SP for the day. I'll share the peanut butter mug cake recipe when I have perfected it. I had to change it from almond flour to AP flour in order to adjust for the new SmartPoints, but I don't like the texture quite as much, so it is still a work in progress.

Gotta get to work early tomorrow so forgive me if I don't pop on in the morning!...................P

Every Wednesday we take a break from discussions to post about things that are making us "woohoo!"
No celebration is too big or too small. It can be about anything - the sky is the limit.

What are you celebrating on WooHoo Wednesday?

WooHoo...........well, I guess my woohoo would be that I've survived my birthday and Valentine's day and several other celebrations without being too bad and I didn't put any extra weight on, in fact I've been consistently losing weight! Maybe what I've been doing as far as good habits and smart choices and exercise are all sticking and working! :)

So... today is a bit of a rough day. We did our taxes last night and determined that we owe.... a lot. We had considered canceling our May trip but decided that we could just scale it back a bit and still have a great time.

Never fun to find out you have to pay taxes, sorry that's happened to you! Good news that you still get to take your trip! When we went last May for our 30th Anniversary we celebrated at Yachtsman and it was amazing! Our waiter was the best, he was so engaging and before we ordered he asked our likes and dislikes and made great suggestions. He wanted us to be really happy with our meal and we were! He also surprised us with a special dessert sampler made just for dh and I to celebrate our anniversary! :)

Welcome, @ski_mom! I'm glad you decided to join us, and I hope you'll enjoy chatting and working towards a healthier life!

I have no idea how to add friends on MFP (I swear, I'm a techie, I just have a mental block when it comes to MFP), so if anyone who hasn't already done so wants to add me ... my username is SarahLovesTink.

---

Okay, mini rant from Sarah:
I'm not an every day coffee drinker, but I do drink it occasionally, so my sister will usually offer me coffee when she makes her coffee (usually around 10-10:30 AM, which is when she wakes up). I've usually been up for 2-3 hours by then, so while I do occasionally say yes, mostly I say no thank you because if I'm tired enough for coffee, I'll either make instant (which I hate) or have something else instead (which is what I do most of the time).
This morning I woke up very tired and decided that I need to make coffee. Since my sister's coffee maker is the only one we keep in the kitchen (mine is bigger than hers, so it got sent to the basement because it takes up a lot of space), I used her coffee maker to make my Starbucks dark roast coffee (which she won't generally drink) when I was ready for it at 8:30 AM, then cleaned it out right away (and left her a note so that she knew that it might still be wet) so that she could use it when she woke up. To me, that was the right thing to do.
Apparently I was wrong. I learned today that I'm a terrible person because I didn't wake up my sister two hours before she would normally surface to ask her if she wanted coffee.
And, by the way, she only drinks flavored coffee, and while I drink flavored coffee, mostly it's wasted on me because I don't always taste the flavor that much, and I generally prefer to make unflavored for myself. Which means that by making her coffee, I wouldn't have been having the coffee I wanted. But that doesn't matter at all, right? All that matters is that I'm selfish and only think of myself when making coffee.
I'm seriously considering bringing my coffee maker up from the basement and keeping it in my bedroom so that she doesn't know when I make coffee in the future.
Whatever, I'm sure I'm being ridiculously selfish about this and I was entirely in the wrong, but ... I'm annoyed and I needed to vent.

So ... yeah. That's why I'm in a crappy mood.
