i feel so lucky to even be in this position to say "what cruise should we do"? with that being said, heres my dilema;
1. 4 days disney DREAM end of march 2014, 8 of us, 2 inside state rooms $5927.76.
2. 4 days disney Magic end of march 2014, same 8 of us, 2 delux oceanview cabins, $4879.76.
so thats $1000.00 cheaper right there. I have been on the dream and we just loved it. out of the 8 family members going, only 2 of us were on the DREAM, me and my then 8 year old grandchild. so this time, it's my husband, daughter, son-in-law, and 3 more grandkids, ages 3, 14 and 16 besides myself and the grandchild who will be 10. (None of them have even cruised before on any cruise line). THEN the TA adds this to the mix; 7 days on the CARNIVAL DREAM leaving at the same time out of port canaveral. $4900.00, 2 ajoining family oceanview stateroom. so longer for cheaper. i have done a short carnival cruise and was ok with it, then i did DISNEY. oh boy what a difference, but like i said, no body but me will know the difference. Is the aqua duck worth almost $1000.00 to do the dream over the magic? Is the magic almost as great as the dream? and finally is carnival ok for the 8 of us for a longer and cheaper vacation? i'm hoping for some feed back from anyone who might have been in this position. I have never sailed on the Magic, only the Wonder and Dream. After doing on the Dream I would not go back on the wonder (nor would my kids - much prefer the clubs on the Dream). But I would have trouble justifying 1000$ extra for that (clubs and aquaduck)... It's a real dilemma right there and then add the 7 days on the Carnaval, oh my very tempting :scratchin

I would put it up to a vote.

That would be a difficult thing to choose. My wife and I, and some friends of ours continually think... "While on the other ship, I know Disney is better. ". And then we wonder if we would have made the right choice. At the moment, we haven't gone that route, and continued with Disney. We figure for money we spend, we want to know we had the good time we were expecting, rather than going for a different option because of price or length of time. This is our opinion, and I guess it could change over time, but this is where we stand at the moment. I hope you're able to make the right decision that's right for YOU

thanks everyone, i guess one of the biggest questions right now is if the MAGIC AND DREAM are comparable. (besides the aquaduck). is it as clean, is the food as good, are the shows as good, pools, etc. once i narrow that down to where i feel like going on the magic would be as great as the dream, then i can make my decision between the carnival dream and disney. oh boy, glad i've got time. oh and my family says 'ANYTHING YOU PICK WILL BE FINE WITH US". no help there. :rolleyes2

I guess you could also ask yourself

Is there anything that is on a ship that some of your family will miss if not there.

For example, Disney has no casino, I think carnival does.... Questions like that. We personally like that Disney doesn't have a casino, but again, that's our choice. I guess that same question can be used pertaining to smoking, the types of shows presented, different activities presented, stuff like that. If you ask your family questions like these, it may make your decision easier.
