Win a life-sized Dalek! No joke; it's really true! Allow me to elaborate why..
Back in 1970, there were no videos; if something got too old they would erase it to make way for new tapes. They didn't think that this would have repercussions later, as they thought that the series wasn't that important. But, since the series became popular, people want to see them once more.
Consenquentatly, fans managed to get themselves copies of missing episodes from some source or another; Car boot sales, friends, abroad.. etc; and so they have given them back to the BBC. BUT there are some still missing episodes and to which the BBC want so they can restore them and put them to DVD/Video. At present the pretty much only have the soundtrack to some, and incomplete sequences of others.
To get them back , blue peter are giving away daleks to people who can find them! Isn't that sweet!
