My wife and I spent our honeymoon in Disney many years ago. We are still in love and raised 5 children. Have 5 grandchildren. Not being the reactionary type. During our honeymoon we walked through the numbers to join DVC and it didn't make sense to us like most.

For many many years when the cash side of Disney was reasonable and our children were young we would stay on property. Wife and I fell in love with BWI IKC and took several anniversary trips at club level. As our children reached their teenage years we ran the numbers again and determined that we should just purchase a vacation home instead of DVC.

We bought a beautiful second home in Davenport, FL. While it was great to have a home with our own pool on a amazing property. We have always had a connection to Disney but that feeling of staying on property just wasn't there. As fate would have it the manufacturing facility I work for was shuttered. Keeping finances in mind, always, we determined that we should sell our vacation home.

When the prices continued to rise with four in college we ran the numbers for DVC again and determined that we would just stay in Celebration. We love Celebration and walking to dinning and being so close to Disney. We are headed back in May and spending several days in the parks and on property. We have also rented several times in Reunion. Another beautiful proper...but nothing like staying on property.

A few weeks ago we got the itch to look at DVC Resale. This time we determined that it will be 15 years before we retire and really missed being on property at Boardwalk. Our kids are now grown and we are empty nesters. We won't be purchasing property near Disney until that point. We didn't run the numbers as we have been down that rabbit hole several times before. It really has come to the point that DVC now makes sense to us.

So we placed an offer last week and we are going through the process now of purchasing a Resale contract. We are studying through vlogs and like most learning through the 11 mo./ 7 mo. use year scenarios. We are so thankful to have this opportunity. We are so excited to get back on property.

My wife asked me tonight if I was going to cry at the point this goes through. Told her it's been a dream to do this for decades.

So I look forward to being a part of this community. Learning from all of you and sharing our trips and new memories we make! We only have the memories of these moments we spend with our family.

Journey to DVC ownership has been a long one. Fingers crossed - we are almost there!

Have a great evening everyone!

Congratulations on your decision. It took us a long time to buy too but we did it in 2007. We too thought about a vacation home, but bought DVC instead. Thought about buying an RV, bought DVC instead. 😂

Good Luck and congratulation on stepping into DVC, sometimes you have to follow your heart and not be as concerned with the numbers. We purchased our first contract direct back in 2008 on a trip to WDW with our son who was in college and his girlfriend at that time. Eleven years later the girlfriend is now his wife and they have two children. We took them and our grandchildren on a trip last Thanksgiving. It is those special moments when you share DVC with the ones you love that you know your decision to purchase was the right one.

YEAH! We are currently waiting on ROFR for a BWV contract, too. This will be our first DVC contract. I hope we both get through. Good luck!

Good afternoon everyone! We were approved! ROFR went through on 4/22/2022. Now we are waiting on the title company and all that goes along with it to complete this process. I will say waiting for this portion to go through was a bit of a emotional roller coaster. We were up and down and honestly making plans of what plan B was going to be.

So for all those waiting there is hope...despite all the reports they are still approving ROFR's. Keep the faith.

Wanted to thank everyone for the well wishes and wish those luck whom are working through this process.

It's such and awesome feeling to be one step closer to our dream of being a part of the DVC Family! Have a great afternoon and weekend!

Yeah!! Congrats. We also passed ROFR for BWV on 4/25. So exciting….. we are still waiting on our contract, too.

We are in a similar stage of life, minus the vacation home. We wanted to buy a condo in Kissimmee area but the prices have gotten out of control. We are down to 1 left in college and decided to buy into DVC, even though we had always been against timeshares. We have been to Disneyworld 15 times in last 8 years, so it made sense for us. It took 5 tries but we finally closed on a BCV contract this week and have a 2nd one on ROFR. We didn't mind the 2042 expiration as our kids are not into Disney. So we get to enjoy 20 years of DVC, getting us into our 70s.

Congrats!!

We were considering an RV as someone above also said and ended up buying points at BRV - a 20 year dream for us.

First time we stayed there on our own points, I just walked from room to room weeping. It was an awesome feeling!!

Then we added on a small contract at BWV. Beware...Addonitis is real!!

My wife and I are in the exact same spot. 2042 takes us into our 70's. The plan is at that point we are retired for several years and will be living the condo life very close to Disney. Will use the points for the kids and grandkids to visit. My wife and I will vacation in between with one or two big family vacations to Disney. Big one coming up in 2024 as we want to go to Disneyland and Aulani for our anniversary. We are looking forward to all the years along the way like everyone.

Appreciate the kudos. We will do our best to fight the Addonitis bug!

That's great news - and welcome home! We have just had our points loaded on a resale 150 BWV points (after losing our first offer to ROFR). We live in the UK and will be 85 and 81 when 2042 rolls around - and probably not wanting to make the 9.5 hour flight across the pond by then! We love the BW area and fully intend to enjoy the next 20 years (health permitting!)
