It seems crazy that we first booked this holiday three years ago! But here we are, having had to postpone it for over a year... nine days away! Eeeeeeeek :cool1:

Our girls are BEYOND excited... and, I'm even more excited than them! Hahahahahaha! Just spending today finishing off packing and we're all sorted!

Anyone care to join me for a bit of a dance?

And... as for the cheeky questions...

1. How do people manage navigating from MCO to Disney in a car? We have a sat nav, but not one with US maps and sat nav hire isn't included with our car hire. Is there an easy way? I'd usually use my phone... but scared of the costs!

2. Do you guys bring anything with you onto the plane to entertain the kids? None of the three are readers, and the youngest is a little too old for colouring books. Will they be okay with the IFE?

You are going to have SO MUCH FUN!!!

From www.allears.net
DIRECTIONS TO RESORT:

From Orlando International Airport (MCO) take 528 West to I-4 West (exit 67). Follow signs to Disney's Old Key West Resort.

Our airline, Jetblue, had individual TVs. Beyond that, I bet your kids will be OK with a fully loaded Ipod.

Have a wonderful holiday!!

:cool1::cool1::cool1:

For the plane mine plays on the ipad or watched IFE.

Maybe take their own headphones that are comfy.

A small pack of plastercine passes some time (about £1 in asda)

I've also got her wiki sticks in the past - bendy sticks that you make shapes with. Think they were off amazon.

MCO to Disney:

Take the South exit out of the airport (well signed overhead)

Then look for the signs for the 417 South towards Tampa.

You will go through 2 tolls which you need to keep right to pay cash.

After the second toll you will take exit 6 - it will bring you down to the interchange with the south end of I-Drive - keep in the centre lane as you need to go straight.
Next Lights is the 535 - again you need to keep straight.

Follow this road and it will bring you into WDW. OKW will be signed :goodvibes

Link to google map directions: Google Maps MCO to OKW

Edit: Google maps shows a couple of routes - I don't recommend taking the north exit as it brings you om to the I4 which can get really busy and isn't fun if you don't know the area

You are super organised. We leave on Sunday for the airport hotel and I'm still to pack. Saying that DH is away overnight with work tonight so I'm going to make a start.

Getting to Disney is very easy. As soon as you pull out of the parking garage it will be signposted so you can pick up where you are going as per the directions on the Allears site which is fantastic.

Our youngest DS is 6 and this is his 4th trip. He is ok with the IFE and an iPad so I'm sure you will be fine.

In the meantime here is one for you and your nieces :cool1::banana::cool1::banana:

how exciting !!i remember when you booked you will have an amazing time hope the next 9 days go quick xx

we didnt take anything for the flight the seat back tv had touch screen games and 100s movies so they jut had that

How exciting! My DD likes sticker books where you put stickers on girls bodies to dress them. Also word searches and colouring books. Go to a pound shop. My teenager just watches three back to back movies in the Virgin flight every time. I find it harder to amuse myself than the children TBH! Have a wonderful trip. Get some quarters before you travel for the toll booths. Any currency exchange should be able to swap you a roll for some $'s.

I'm literally bouncing around my house today with excitement! A week today we'll be on our way up to Manchester... and it still doesn't seem real. Does anyone else feel that a little bit before they go, when they've been looking forward to it for so long?

I finished the very last of the laundry and packing last night and printed off all of our various bits of paperwork. The only thing left to do is sort currency, but we get paid the day we travel up to Manchester, so we'll exchange then :)

Eeeeeek!

Thank you all so much for everything! You're all wonderful!

xx

Totally not necessary - the toll booths from MCO to WDW are all manned and will take up to a $20 bill.

In fact I usually change a $20 at one of the toll booths if I am a bit short of low denomination bills so I can tip bell services. We never buy cash as we just take it out of our SunTrust account at an ATM on arrival at MCO so usually have all $20s depending what was left over from the previous trip.

I don't believe I said it was necessary. Personally I prefer it.

You didn't say specifically it was necessary but you implied it as on where in your original post did you say it was personal preference.

You don't come across any unmanned toll booths between MCO and WDW so change is not necessary at all!

No. That's how you interpreted my post. Please stop patronising me I don't appreciate it.

How exciting! I hope you and your nieces have the trip of a lifetime!
