We did finally make it home and I saw my dentist. Unfortunately the tooth could not be saved. It was definitely infected but the dentist also said it more than likely had a crack in it. He took a 3D layered X-ray and looked at all angles and could not find any other roots that might have been missed during my root canal a few months back. Since we had done the root canal and crown the only other plausible option was a crack in the tooth which meant it had to come out.
The kicker was he could not guarantee me he could get me completely numb because of how much infection was in the tooth and surround area. I chose to go the oral surgery route so I could be sedated. I am still in quite a bit of pain and I think it is gonna take some time to heal. I am concerned the infection may have not all been contained so will be calling the surgeon in the morning to further discuss this but for now glad the main source of the pain is gone. My face is swollen and the jaw bone and up behind my ear are still throbbing!!
The flight home was PURE HECK. Never again will I fly with a tooth infection. I took two strong pain pills and borrowed my daughter's new Mickey pillow pet she was willing to share
and tried to sleep through the four hour flight. Then our second flight was delayed (which ended up being a life savor because the flight out of Orlando was super late leaving. Plane issues and then a guy got on puking and they had to pull him off and clean up where he had sat)
So all in all, our trip was crazy. Glad to be home and trying to fend off a stomach virus my FIL had while they were here. My daughter woke up with it this morning and my other kiddo and myself are kind of feeling off. Not a good combo with a freshly pulled tooth and trying to avoid a dry socket!!
Just glad to be home!!!!!! Thank you all for your kind words and advice. As I had said in a previous post, it helps to have others to reach out to when ya feel stuck with a problem in Disney! You guys get it and you get that I am not crazy for starting to plan our next trip!! Although I am a little hesitant!!
Happy Sunday to you all!!
