FINALLY having my gown re-designed... IT'S FINISHED!! (update post 26)

I think you made the best choice. The others still look very "bridal" IMHO.

Good luck on your move!

I'm so sorry no one answered!!!! But actually what you went with was by far my favorite!!!!!

Shoot! I thought I had answered (Oops!) I was going to say that I like what you picked or the cloud skirt so... glad you went with your pick.

I'm sorry I didn't answer sooner, I'd missed that you'd updated this thread! I think the dress is going to be beautiful and FUN when it's done. I love the version you chose with the ruffles. Can't wait to see your Disneyland pictures once you've moved and the dress is finished!!

How exciting (and overwhelming!) that you are moving to the U.S.!! Where in the country will you be? Are you planning for this to be a permanent move, or is this a short term thing? Congratulations either way!

Brooke

Thanks all! I'm very excited and think it will be lovely when it's finished!

We are on our way to California for two to three years (YAY Disneyland!!). Hopefully on to Europe after that, which is where we hope to settle. :thumbsup2

i just found this thread today so I couldn't have been any help previously but my favorite choice was what you picked , the ruffles on the straight skirt. the others all looked very bridal yet to me. the pink that you showed in the same samples will be beautiful as well.
This is something I might look into doing as my daughter has no interest in using my dress at all.... however mine has been used a few (5) years for halloween bride, dead bride, and princess as i couldn't bare to not wear it again. I wonder if it would come clean enough to re-imagine.... rambling sorry.
I am looking foward to seeing your finished dress.

I just realized I never actually updated this thread! I was caught up with an international move and then took off to volunteer in India...

But my dress is done!! :goodvibes

We are planning an anniversary photo shoot at Disneyland next year, though I'll probably find an excuse to wear it before then. ;)

The total cost broke down as:

Cleaning: $200
Dyeing, added silk, materials, etc: $200
Labour: $550
Tax: $81.94
Shipping: $110 (UPS Ground to Cali)

Total: $1141.94

So... Not cheap. But I am so darn excited!! As I said, this dress is so sentimental and now I'll be able to wear it again!!

Oh wow! That turned out amazing! I remember reading some of the early posts you did about this, but hadn't thought about it in a while.

I'd say that is totally worth the cost - really doesn't seem too bad, when you lay out the breakdown!:)

It's so great that you'll get to wear your dress again - in a new way!

Glad your move went well, too!

It turned out beautiful!!! I'm so glad you are happy with it! I can't wait to see pictures of you in it (hint hint) :)

Your dress turned out so beautiful!! This is such a neat idea. What a great way to re-purpose a once in a lifetime dress so you can wear it on other occasions and have such fond memories.

Thank you so much, all! It's ever prettier in person! And so well put together, even my perfectionist mother would have approved of the sewing and craftsmanship! :goodvibes
