DH got me a 'Be a Zoo Keeper for the day' experience for Xmas and it's on Sat (1 week today). :Pinkbounc
I'm going to Woburn Safari Park in Bedfordshire, and I can't wait.
In the morning I get to work with the smaller animals like Wallabys, Birds, Squirrel Monkeys, Lemurs etc. and then after lunch I will be doing some work with bigger animals (Bears, Tigers, etc.).
Not sure exactly what animals yet, but I will let you all know on Sat night next week.
I adore animals and cannot wait.
I cried my eyes out when I found out what he had got me.

Can't wait, can't wait, can't wait.

That sounds brilliant! My friends df bought her a meerkat experience at a zoo and she loved it!!

Sounds like you are looking forward to this :) Hope you have a great day.

Wow, what a wonderful present, I hope you have a fab day, and if you get a chance take some photos for us :)

What a great idea! Have loads of fun and we look forward to hearing about it

Wow - it was fab, fab, fab!!

Got there at about 8:45am, dressed in welly boots, thick socks, tights, jeans, vest top, jumper and fleece (and I had my waterproof coat just in case - but I didn't need it!).

A guy called Chris came over from 'Animal Encounters' and took me back there.

First we went in with the Lemurs, who were gorgeous.
I carried the bucket of food so they were all over me, jumping on my back and trying to get the lid off the bucket!

We fed them, and then cleaned up their poop (yuk!).
It was wonderful to interact with them so much, and I learnt that they love their armpits tickled too - very cute.

Then he showed me round all the other animals (marmosets, turtles, penguins etc.) I got to meet a penguin who had been hand reared so he was really friendly!

Then we went over and fed the parakeets, and I held a python (had it round my neck!!!).

Met some wallabys (they had lots of babies so that was sweet) and met some squirrel monkeys too.

Then I dropped my bl**dy digital camera into a bucket of water so have not only broke it, but also lost all my photos from the morning! Was sooooooo annoyed.

After lunch I met 2 of the elephants which was a wonderful experience.

Then in the afternoon I spent most of the time in a jeep going round seeing all the other animals (monkeys, wolves, bears, lions, tigers, rhino's, giraffes, deer and buffalo).

As I was in the rangers jeep, we got to go off road so where all the customers were just driving through sticking to the road, we got to get up close with the animals.

Helped put the tigers and lions to bed, and then was able to get out the jeep and get right up to the cage.
I felt quite vunerable but it was amazing.

So overall (except for breaking the camera, losing the photo's, losing a glove and falling over!!!) I had a really, really amazing day and I would recommend it to anyone who loves animals, isn't afraid of mucking out poo, and who has always wanted to know what it's like to be a zoo keeper.

If I manage to get the photo's off the memory card thingy, I might be able to post some pix but don't hold your breath.

Wow Karen !! it sounds like you had a fab day. I'm so pleased that you enjoyed your present so much. Sorry to hear about your camera, but I hope you manage to salvage the memory card so that you can remember such a special day :)
