Final report! - Cant believe I booked Super Bowl weekend -

With the current temps and forecast, I imaging there will be lots of jeans and pants. This is my first trip to FL where I'm actually packing something other than shorts and t-shirts.

I have a LL for Everest booked for mid-day this Sunday - I'm really looking forward to experiencing Everest with a wind chill to help make it feel like you're actually on Mt. Everest! My 1st Grader will love - will probably want to ride it over and over.

Yeah it was in late May and late August that I was one of the very few crazy people still in jeans.

Yes, I rode Everest at around 10 or 11 am last month. It was cold! So awesome. I also rode it at Moonlight Magic on that trip. So amazing at night.

We did it at a MM in November a year or two ago, less than a 5min wait but it was sooooooo cold that even with a short wait I had to tap out after 3 rides, kids went on it a few more times before we finally made them move along….I guess it does add that extra element of authenticity.

but my daughter thinks traveling back to the hotel (BLT) from either Epcot or AK will waste too much time and it wont be worth it.
If your daughter wants to maximize the park time, then do not go back to the hotel in the middle of the day. Transportation time doesn’t count after park closures.

Traveling between parks and the hotel will cost time anyway. Even though you might be able to walk between BLT and MK round trip within 20 minutes, I wouldn’t do that in the middle of the day if you paid cash for a hopper ticket.

However, on the other side, if you need to go back to hotel or to another park, transportation time is kinda similar. It will take half an hour regardlessly. If you are taking a bus then going to AK only takes maybe five minutes longer. How long you wait for bus or boat or monorail matters more.

I have the free fireworks viewing booked at BLT. But now my daughter says she would rather do Chef Mickeys. We cant do both unfortunately. We do character meals every trip but this would be a first for her at Chef Mickeys

Regarding firework vs. Chef Mickey, it depends if you have plan to watch the firework in MK.

Honestly, you can do an early meal then see the firework though you said you can’t. Not sure if you can’t get the right reservation or you have other plans. But it takes park time when your daughter wants to maximize park time anyway. What about letting her skip it, and do character dining on a resort day?

It took me YEARS to score a night ride on Everest. For a while I referred to it as my Great White Whale. I think I finally managed it during that brief window when they were trying to turn AK into a three meal park. (RIP Rivers of Light. I loved that show.)
I want to see Pandora at night with the bioluminescent landscaping. A night ride on Everest would be cool too.

Sometimes if you get in line for Avatar right before closing you will be exiting late enough to see Pandora lit up.
I'll give that a try during our December trip! I think our May trip would be too bright at park close. However, we rarely stay at AK past 2-3pm, so I'll have to think that out.

It looks like the hours for AK these first few weeks of February for Fri/Sat/Sun are 8 am to 8 pm, and sunsets are around 6 pm, so if you're doing AK one of these days, and stay until the end, it would be dark. I was going to do it this Sunday, but I'm not sure we'll last quite that long as temps drop into the 30s. May give it another go on Friday, 2/6.
