We showed yesterday at 8:30 am. I was hoping to place our last time in the Novice class, but Georgie had the final say on that one.
She decided it would be her lowest score ever!! We qualified with an ugly 176! She pretty much let me know yesterday that she was bored to death with all the heeling and halting. Yup,she's had enough about- turns and figure-8's. We had a great weekend watching breed, obedience and agility. A dream weekend for anyone who lives to be with dogs, that would be me! So,on we go to train for Open. I'm glad we got a lot of ribbons and placed many times in Novice A and B,because I don't see that happening for us in Open. We're going to have to really tighten up and fine tune our run-thru's if we even want to qualify. I'd say,we're ready to move on!!!
Thanks to all of you for your good luck wishes for me and Georgiegirl!!

CJ(..we'll be back!!)

Sorry about yesterday.

We have shows this weekend. I show in conformatin though. I have a special entered Friday and Saturday. Sunday we have a special thing going at church, so I am skipping that day.

my dog dont do nothing but eat and scratch (me too)

What kind of dog is Georgie?

When I was a kid we had golden retrievers - I was VERY young and would do jr class in both obedience and conformation. We never did much - tho' I know my dad took 2 of the 3 to CD. Then I became an nasty teenager :o and mom and dad took the dogs on to field training..

In retrospect dog shows were a blast!!

Well it's on to open for y'all now!! Best of Luck!

Luck to you also dianeschlicht !

Yep, the ups and downs of dog shows, eh?

Were you at Topsfield, by any chance? I was there for three days. My Tilly won her class all three days, but took no points. Yesterday, I was 'yelled' at by friends, who told me to get to a handler's class with my girl. I've been trying to get to a class for months, but either had a sick dog, a dog in season, or too much other stuff going on. Wednesday, for sure, I'll be in class, and I'll be there every Wednesday for the rest of the summer. God knows I need the help -- Matilda's fine, I'm the problem. Ticks me off that I lost for her, but I know that's what happened.

The excitement, for us basset people, occurred last Friday when our own Yahtzee took first in the Hound Group, followed by (drum roll please) --- Best In Show :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: !!! It's extremely rare for a basset to do this, and he had some tough competition. We shreeked, we cried, we hugged anyone near us. I was particularly happy for the Yahtzer's handler, who lost her top dog this past winter. Yahtzee had a Group Three on Saturday, followed by another Group One yesterday. Best In Show was won by a dobe, Airhead, I'm assuming you probably know the dog?

All in all, it was a fabulous weekend. I love dog shows! Good thing, since DH and I can't see our way to the World this summer. DD is there now with a friend, their h.s. grad. gift....

I was at the Topsfield show all weekend!!! Hey,we probably
passed each other on our way to an event!

Great job CJ!!!! Hope you do as great in Open as you guys did in Novice!!! Jasmine's show is Saturday and her hair is still coming out in clumps. Oh well, thats why I like performance, doesn't matter if you show a bald dog. LOL Way to go Georgie!!

Airhead, did you stay there? I'm asking because we rented an RV and camped right at the site. There were a number of dobes in our area, and I can't help but wonder if one of them was you?

I live just 10 minutes from the Topsfield fairgrounds! That was the other reason I entered all 3 days. Where were you parked? I
probably walked by your RV 100 times!!

We were on the grass near the main entrance. Don't you love when there's a show near home? The Fitchburg shows are about two minutes up the road (in fact, DS #2 has a summer job at the hotel), and I so appreciate being able to stay in bed as late as possible and that my dogs can relax at home between shows. In fact, our August Specialty is in Fitchburg......
