(Final 8/12)The WILDEST Ride in the Wilderness!" Princess Half Marathon TR/Feb.2014

Oh the joys of teen girl drama! I'm glad you guys were able to talk it out later, but I totally agree you deserved a few drinks after your accomplishment. And, while the walking is always good after a race, I totally sympathize on the pain part. Yowch.

Yep, she's usually not super dramatic, but I guess she was overly-so because she wanted it to be all about Eleanor's experience. Most of the trip was, but I reminded her that this trip was first a trip for me to run my first half marathon. Luckily, she's like me and moves on pretty quickly. We don't tend to hold onto stuff for long and we were fine before even hitting China! :thumbsup2

Glad it eventually got resolved.

I feel sometimes it's hard to juggle everyone's expectations on vacation.

Usually ours come very last & sometimes that's a hard pill to swallow because we are the ones that put the blood, sweat and tears into the planning of the vacation.

I almost always try to take a girl's vacation a year because I need it.. I need a vacation to be about me...... guess I'm just selfish like that. :)

Also, several of the pavilions have their penny machines located bigger gift stores near Int'l Gateway and right when you exit Future world and enter World Showcase. I know for sure China is one of those......

That was so sweet of Savannah to pick that rose out for you. I loved the color she picked out.

I don't have a girl but I do have an almost 16-year old boy. So I definitely know all about those teenage hormones. I feel like sometimes just my blinking annoys him :lmao:.

Those margaritas looked so delicious. I have those on my list of things to try in August. Last year I tried an awesome drink in China. It had Cantaloupe juice in it (at least I think it was real juice).

Looking forward to your next installment!

Such an odd moment when you are by yourself waiting after a half. I had to do that after last years phm. Even with directions, my family could not figure out where I was and I then had to pull it together enough to direct them and meet them. In some ways I feel as though I should have just went back to the room myself. Maybe it was just the post race emotions... it felt like it took forever to be reunited with them. Maybe it really wasn't.

How nice that your dd brought you a rose!

 I am not sure I would have been able to handle the transportation woes like you did. I guess this is a good reason to only use RD transportation on race day. Things get so rerouted and detoured and it just is hard to navigate. (I tried to on one night when there was a race the next morning...can't imagine how confusing it would be with an actual race going on).

I am sorry that you are Savannah got a bit grumpy with each other. You definitely deserved your drinks!! I can understand her wanting to make things special for Eleanor too though... So hard to balance these things, I am sure!

Just curious... since I didn't follow the phm stuff that closely this year. Who was the official princess? I see the gem and sash are blue. I wonder if that has to do with the princess. I think last year was Rupunzel... pinkish/lavenderish stones and sash.

I really loved your race updates. You did a wonderful job writing very authentically. That moment and accomplishment will be with you forever...thank you for sharing it with us.

As I consider running the GSC in 2015...having never ran anything over a 5 miler, I think it would make it so special to have the PHM be my first (and only??) half marathon. I don't think I would have thought of that without your report.

Sorry about the teen drama. I think that is what makes our jobs as mothers hard....we never really get to just be completely about ourselves. YOU DESERVED a drink (or whatever you wanted)...yet we still have to think about others.

That flatbread at EU looks great. I will have to remember that one since my kids usually aren't up for any adventurous CS at Epcot.

I know it's pretty much my fault...I created the monster! ;) She's just used to us doing what she wants (which is USUALLY what I want) when at Disney.

Huh. Not sure if they saw those, they were hunting like crazy for them. I loved how the penny machines were this new thing for Savannah this trip. Such a little thing but so much fun!

Oooh, I have heard of that cantaloupe drink but never tried it! I should add it to my list as well! :thumbsup2

I think it was Cinderella? I didn't see a lot about a official princess, maybe because of the Glass Slipper Challenge being the inaugural year?? :confused3

Thanks! YES! It is the perfect race for your first or only half! It may be the only half I ever get to do. I have scheduling conflicts for nearly every other month of the year with my job and feel pretty lucky that this is a race I can do! So much fun and support, it would be hard to find another half that could stand up to this in a first time experience! :goodvibes At least in my book!

You definitely deserved those drinks. glad you and savannah worked it out quickly

:goodvibes

We usually do. I've worked hard to treat my kids like I would treat anyone and take their feelings into account...and they do the same for me in return! :lovestruc

Yes, you do deliver!!!! Drama with a teenage girl? NO!!! SAY IT ISN'T SO!!! THAT CAN REALLY HAPPEN??!!! WOW! I KNOW NOTHING of those moments!!! :rotfl2:

Yeah, I knew you wouldn't understand. :lmao:

Oh my gosh, what a fantastic race report! I really felt like I was running right along with you :). I'm amazed at your courage - for the pain to have started that early in the race, and you just kept going - you're a very strong person

I absolutely love the shot of you crossing the finish line where you can just see all the emotion on your face - the pain and the triumph! You are definitely inspiring me to run the half next year - maybe I'll see you there :thumbsup2

Thank you! :goodvibes I hope you run it and I hope I get to meet you too!!

I'm finally here! Am I too late? :) I am going to enjoy reading this, because I have loved seeing your pictures on FB! OK, off to read! :surfweb:

NEVER too late, Erin! Besides, I'm going at a WAY slower pace than my get-the-whole-TR-finished-in-a-week-pace that I have in the past! ;)

Wow you're more ambitious than me post race haha. I went directly to the pool and had a nice nap :rotfl: and a drink!

I was definitely feeling stiff, walking around the parks for a couple days and then running 13.1 was rough.

Those margaritas all look delicious!

I think I was a little AFRAID to stop moving, for fear I wouldn't be able to move again! :lmao: AND, I'm always like this at Disney, I don't want to miss a moment, so I sleep very little and keep going most of the time. After the race was no exception, I just kept going and going and going that day...as you will see! ;)

There is a new development in the Jazzirit hands saga, my friends. :rolleyes2

So yesterday, I'm telling Savannah and Dallas in the car about the whole Jazz Hands/Spirit Hands dilemma that I had. I explained the whole story (ad nauseum) about how I thought it was Jazz hands and then went to find the scene in "Bring it On" and found out they were actually doing Spirit Fingers...

When I told them that we put the words together to make Jazzirit hands, she wrinkled her face up and said WHY???...wait for this...

then she said, "the "irit" part doesn't even sound like SPIRIT!" Yes, my daughter is just like me. What did you expect? :rotfl2:

Then, she looks at me with this grin and says...they aren't Jazzirit hands, they are SPAZZ hands. :lmao:

She demanded that I call them that, it was far more fitting since I'm a spaz already, and then told me that I had to tell all of you about her brilliant word. :rotfl:

So now we are in trouble, I'm afraid. Far too many fabulous words to describe our fabulous hands as we cross the finish line!

I like SPAZZ as well. Easier to remember AND spell AND say.

I'm good. Let's change it. SPAZZ hands it is.

:)

:rotfl2: I'm seriously rolling here...we're having a discussion on whether to change jazzirit hands to spazz hands. This is my life! :lmao:

I'm a little nostalgic about jazzirit. I want to still use it for something. Maybe I'll just call you that Nicole. :p

because it makes PERFECT SENSE to a sane person to be nostalgic about a WORD that I have been using for 2 weeks. Yep. :rotfl2:

This is one of those days I just have to accept I've gone off the deep end. :bitelip:
