Does anyone know what the date was for the last few years of when they filmed MVMCP at the MK? I noticed on this site that the dates were December 2 and 4th, etc. I thought that the party was usually on Friday night but December 4th is a Saturday night. Is this likely the night they will film or do they film on the Thursday night? Just wondering before we buy our tickets. For anyone that was there when they filmed, was it alot more crowded? Thank you.

I just saw on another site on the Dis that they are stating MVMCP is December 2, 3 etc. On their main page it is stated the 4th, etc. I think I will call Disney myself to check the dates. Still wondering when they will film the party for the travel channel?

They did filming last year as part of a Holiday Special for the Travel Channel with Samantha Brown, I think they did it during the first party night. I don't think they filmed it previous years or will necessarily do it again. ABC filmed the Christmas Parade to be showed on Christmas morning the first Saturday in December the past 2 years. That was during the day, not part of MVMCP.

DebbieB has it correct the Christmas morning parade has been taped on the very first weekend of Dec. So, historically speaking Dec 4th should be the main day of taping. They do tape some of the smaller stuff on the days surrounding the first Sat. and last year the taping was done on more then one day due to weather delays...

I remember the Christmas special they showed on Christmas morning we got asked to be one of the familys to tell what we love about Christmas at Disney and also our family name and say Happy holidays from so and so. We did this just after Thanksgiving during the day at MGM studios. We arrived on Sunday after Thanksgiving and we were only there for 4 nights so it was filmed sometime between Monday - Wednesday after Thanksgiving.

If that helps any.

Thank you. I thought I remember reading that the Christmas parade was filmed on a Saturday last year and it was not the Saturday after Thanksgiving but the next Saturday. Am I correct?

That's correct. It was December 6 last year.

We were there during the taping(s) this past year. MK is almost always crowded on Sat. and during the tapings it was even more so. Unless you really like crowds I would avoid this and take in another park. Just some friendly advice.

The Travel Channel taped all the stuff at Epcot on the Saturday after Thanksgiving - we saw them and the planted families there that day. I would assume that the MVMCP was the one on the next day since it was at night and I believe I saw them wandering around then as well...

We were there for the taping of the christmas parade. It was the Saturday after thanksgiving, around the 5th. They do tape small parts throughout the week but the main parade is taped on Saturday. You really have to like crowds though to be at the MK on that day. It is extremely busy but exciting nonetheless.

I thought they only start showing the Christmas parade during regular park hours closer to Christmas. Do they have a special showing of it that first Saturday in December?

They only show the parade at MVMCP parties and the week of Christmas AND then they show it once the first Saturday (usually) in December only for tapping purposes and it's very long and crowded and a bit boring at times. They start and stop a lot.

Last year because of the snow storm they also did some tapping that Sunday too and we saw Regis and Kelly!

Thanks for the info. I think we will stick to watching it at MVMCP and avoid MK on that Saturday :D .

When they tape it for TV, it's not like watching the regular parade. They stop and start, send one float at a time down Main Street, etc. It's a long drawn out process. Disney does not advertise the taping, it usually ends up on these boards through word of mouth from cm's. I saw it when it was done on a Thursday in 2001, I just happened to ask a cm at the tip board if anything was going on for Walt's 100th Birthday on Dec 5 (Wednesday), she told me about the parade taping. Regis & Kelly were in town taping their show earlier in the week. Regis also taped episodes of Millionaire, which featured Olympic Athletes, we were lucky enough to attend that.
