Filming movies in your town

Not my hometown, but a tiny community near it that I worked in (San Juan Bautista, CA). one was Alfred Hitchock's Vertigo, the other a made for TV movie starring Mark Harmon (around 1990) that I believe was called the Long Road Home. My the tiny mountain town that my grandparents lived there was a Matthew Broderick film, Out on a Limb(?).

Local to where I am now (Memphis) has been a few. Aside from two Hallmark Christmas movies, the short-lived TV show Bluff City Law was filmed locally. I thought it was a great show, sadly it was canceled mid-season.

Long Beach CA - there are literally movies and TV shows shot here daily. Mr. Iglasias was based in the HS where my kids go to school, as was Freedom Writers. Alvin and the Chipmunks 2 was filmed there as well. They replaced the bear in the school entrance with an Eagle - otherwise they changed almost nothing. There was a water scene in Batman and Robin that was shot in the channel entrance at the end of the peninsula. A LOT of CSi Miami was filmed in Long Beach. So many more...

There is a movie being filmed in Sacramento right now about the homeless. It has Beverly D'Angelo, Ashanti and Billy Baldwin. They were asking for extras.

Doc Hollywood was filmed in Micanopy and The Yearling in Cross Creek at Marjorie Kinnian Ramlings home.

I read that a scene from one of the Bond films was filmed at the now defunct Amtrak station in Waldo FL also.

In the latest Batman (The Batman), Many of the scenes of Gotham Police Dept, Town hall and downtown Gotham were filmed in Glasgow and Liverpool UK. The streets were all closed off and filming done during the night. We live an hour from Glasgow.

Owen Wilson was just filming a Netflix movie/show a few streets over from my house a little while ago. It was neat because they had a bunch of old cars. Netflix also just bought the (now defunct) Army Fort a few towns over, so I expect to see a lot more local filming.

Some of my high school friends were extras in Eight Men Out.

Atlanta is full of film production. I was there one weekend when they were filming a scene from one of the Barbershop movies.

They were filming a car scene, with a big domestic sedan on a flatbed with actors inside, camaras and lights all around. There were support vehicles and motorcycle escorts. This entourage drove a couple of miles down Peachtree, past the Fox Theater then go back north to the starting point and drive down filming take after take. It was fun to watch the process. I thought it was probably a scene that they rerecorded the dialog back in the studio with all the sirens and traffic noise.

I used to live near where some of the exterior shots (the Conners' house, Lobo, the Steeples, 3rd & Delaware) of "Roseanne" TV series were. I have seen them all a number of times. I believe that with the house in particular, they only used exterior shots, and the interior of the house was filmed in a studio. I haven't seen any of the new Conners series, so I don't know if that has the same stuff or not.

Those "Lanford Illinois" shots.... were in southern Indiana.

Oh I almost forgot, parts of "A League of their Own" was filmed there too.

A ton in my area, always over the years. Hardly a day went by that you did not see a movie trailer.

Sometimes it is fun , sometimes it is annoying. Like being blocked off on a biking route, a la See - Jason Momoa

Or walking through a shot on the street and getting screamed at by the director.

My uncle's place was one of the homes in Mean Girls (Cady's/Lindsay Lohan's).

When we went to Puerto Vallarta in 1979, my mom chatted up some ladies on the beach who were in port from the Island Princess, docked next door. They were filming an episode of The Love Boat, and they invited us aboard to watch. They chose us to be in a background scene, and we were clearly visible in the episode!

Lots of movies filmed in Georgia. Though its not a movie, but in my hometown specifically Stranger Things.

Walking Dead and some Marvel shows were shot there too.

yep Walking Dead was shot in Senoia. Thats about 40 minutes south of where I grew up

My home town and surrounding communities have had a surprising number of TV shows and movies filmed here. It's so weird to me because this area is Boring Nowheresville, PA. But I just found out they are going to film a TV show on my ex-husband's family farm and I think it's so cool!

My ex-BIL sold the family farm almost a decade ago, but I'm excited to watch this show and see the house I lived in! It's a really cool old house and a beautiful farm so i can understand why they want to use it, but like a lot of old farmhouses the layout isn't great so I'm curious to see how they handle that. Lol, I'm sure this is the closest I'll ever be to Hollywood.

Anyone else have a lot of stuff filmed in your neck of the woods? Ever been an extra? I have several friends that were extras on various movies filmed in Pittsburgh while we were in college.

We were in my former home town for my sister's funeral, staying at the same hotel as a filming crew. Don't know if the producers paid extra for top-notch service or if the hotel staff was star-struck, but we basically had to beg for towel service. Had we known in advance we would have stayed elsewhere.
