Few Questions on Moderate and Budget Resorts.

I know it is a little early for planning a 2006 fall trip but I would like to start a lttle now. Just found out that my parents would like to come along with my family trip to Disney next year. So there will be 4 adults and a child 4 years old. I see that in one section of the Port Orleans has trundle beds. My questions is 1. First will that be feasable to do this? 2. If yes, what is the xtra charge per adult? 3. And how do you go about in reserving that type of room if it is possible? I am going to reserve this in the fall as soon as the AAA rates come out later this year. I would like to determine if it would be cost efficiant with 2 rooms at a Budget Resort or for us to split the cost in a moderate. Thanks for your help.

The rooms with the trundle beds are in the Alligator Bayou section of the resort. If you were to book it for four adults and one child, you would be put in that room.

There is a $15 extra charge per adult per night. So, having four adults in the room would cost an extra $30 per night. It would probably cost you close to the same amount to book two rooms at a value resort--then you would have two bathrooms. I personally think four adults and a kid in a moderate hotel room is a bit much.

The trundle will only sleep one child. It slides out from under the bed. When we used it we had it slide between the beds, that way my DD8 could watch TV. A moderate is too small for 4 adults and 2 children. I would say go with 2 rooms at a Value.

I can't imagine 4 adults and a child sharing one of those rooms--WAYYYY too crowded!

We were four adults and a three year old in a trundle bed room at PO Riverside two years ago, and it was fine. We paid $15.00 per extra adult. I would prefer this to two rooms at a Value Resort (although I like the value resorts for just the two of us!) because the resort is beautiful. My granddaughter loved walking right outside into "the woods" (hey, she's a Jersey Shore kid...if there are more than four trees it's the woods). There were lots of bunnies and baby ducks when we were there.

Nice to see a view from both sides of the issue. I see the one person thought about having 2 bathrooms. I may considered that especially with 4 adults it may take awhile for everyone to get ready every morning. I guess I will have to sit down wilth all persons in the party and see what everyone wants. My wife and I were spoiled last year staying at the Dolphin and would like to stay onsite again. For my parents they have never stayed on site and I am sure they would not mind either way. Thanks everyone.

We had adjoining rooms at port orleans riverside once - my parents in one room and me and my grandma in the other. it worked out nicely. i would think that it would be too cramped with four adults and a child in one room - especially the bathroom situation. although now that i think about it we did do that once! only my cousin was 8 and was a little too big for the trundle so she preferred to sleep on the floor. definitely don't try to cram everyone into one value resort room - i thought it was fine for 2 people but any more and it would have been way to chlaustrophobic.

If you're willing to split the cost of the room why not go for a deluxe - Poly, YC, BC, GF or Contemporary would be plenty big enough for 4 adults and 1 child.

I'm not a big fan of the values, but I think I'd rather get two rooms in a vaule than share one Deluxe room with two other adults whether they were my parents or not.

You could get a Jr. Suite at CSR for about $373 per night. Or you could get a suite at the DTD Hilton for about $200. These are the options I'd be looking at if I was in your situation.

Being spoiled by DVC, I'd recommend renting points and getting a two-bedroom at Old Key West. If your parents are like mine, they don't like eating out a lot. The kitchen amenities allowed them to eat in the room most of the time. You also have two full bathrooms, two bedrooms, and a pull out sofa bed in the den. This might be more $$$ than you are willing to spend, but it would be about the same as getting a deluxe room at the Poly, etc, and much more personal space. So if you are contemplating getting the deluxe room, add this option to your thoughts.

I would ask for connecting rooms at a value if possible. This would allow a "napping" room and an "awake" room during the afternoons and evenings if you needed it. Getting 5 people to sleep at the same time each evening is difficult.

It would also give a second bathroom in the mornings.

I don't think anyone would get much sleep with 5 in a room.
