Festival of the Masters, Nov 7-9

"More sculptors, photographers and painters than you can shake a brush at will be showing off their creations during the 28th annual Festival of the Masters Nov. 7-9. Some 150 award-winning visual artists will transform Downtown Disney into an outdoor gallery. There are also children's activities and live entertainment. There is no charge for admission. "

That's according to Deb's web site. Can anybody tell me WHAT children's activites and types of live entertainment I can expect?

last year they had colored chalk and kids were allowed to draw and color all of the sidewalks from Marketplace to West End. I don't have any youngsters anymore so I didn't pay attention. but that is the one thing I REALLY remember.

Festival of the Masters is a fantastic art show but I don't know about the children's activities. There are demonstrations by Cirque Du Soleil performers and various school bands throughout the day.
We would love to go to DW again this year for this show BUT...
when we went last year, everything was just too crowded.
The weekend was Super Soaps weekend, New Jersey Days (or whatever they call that), Veteran's Day weekend, and the Food and Wine Festival at Epcot too.
We go to DW often and don't usually even notice the crowds.
We spend a lot of time at the Boardwalk, usually dining late at Flying Fish or Spoodles. We had to eat somewhere off property one night that weekend.
We went to MGM early one morning, we knew what we were getting ourselves into and it WAS crazy!! Great people watching!
The Food and Wine Festival itself did not seem that crowded, we had a really good time there.
I'm not sure we won't go for the art show again this year, but I do wish they had it on a different weekend.
I am not even sure it is Super Soaps weekend and Jersey Days this year, I guess I need to do some research.
Anyway, the Festival of the Masters is the only arts and crafts festival we really enjoy...the weather has aways been beautiful during that time and the variety of talented artists is great.
The sidewalk chalk art was fantastic!

It will be Super Soap weekend again, but I was trying to avoid MGM studios.

Is there any way of finding out when the art show will be held in 2004? Thinking of going in the fall next year & this sounds like something we would enjoy. thanks.

It seems like the festival is always held on Veteran's Day weekend.
Plan on going, it really is a great show and a wonderful time of year to vacation in Florida!

For those who have been to the festival of the masters before, I am wondering how early in the morning things get going there. Does it open with the shops at 9:30 or earlier? Is most of the artwork in the West Side or is it pretty spread out? Thank you for any info.

if memory serves correctly, the tents do not open any earlier than the shops.

They are not rigid about their opening time by 10:00 I think they were all open.
