Festival of the Lion King rehab

Well, I guess I can mark that show off of my list!! I will be there from Sept 3-10, 2003. We saw it on our last trip but my mother has never seen it and she is going with us this trip.

I'm so disappointed! I've never seen it, and was hoping to during Labor Day Weekend. :(

Hmmm.. that is just a personal webpage. I would wait to see it announced publicly on www.disney.com or www.wdwig.com or even this site.

Just don't get the panties in a bunch yet...

Ok, just checked on the link.. it is a delphi forum, very much like this one.

I saw that the post was Samirella, the same person/persona that posted here.

I have YET to find anyone else to confirm that besides her. It has not been officially confirmed by any other sources. If anyone has taken any journalism classes, stories are confirmed after two sources.... so far this is still one source.

Yes, I posted the information. Minor construction has already begun. How do I know this? I perform in the show five days a week. I see the heavy equipment backstage. I see (as do the guests who have seen the show anytime in the past week) the black tarp that has been draped behind the Elephant section and stretches from the Giraffe section to the Lion section. I'm truly sorry that you can't accept this information because it hasn't been posted on the official site. How many times has the official site had incorrect information? I merely posted this information so anyone who planned to see this show when they were here, could plan around the rehab. If you absolutely need a second source, you can find it here

Also, the WDW website says this about rehabs:

Q. What attractions are currently closed?

A. To provide Walt Disney World® Guests with the highest-quality experience, attraction maintenance is occasionally necessary. Please refer to the following schedule to see what attractions may be closed during all or part of your next visit. For updated details, you may wish to call (407) WDW-MAGIC (939-6244)†, just prior to your visit. Dates of refurbishment are subject to change without notice.

I find the intercot information spotty at best. Not that I am doubting, but you understand where I am coming from....

I just find it odd, that if it is official, why hasn't it been officially announced.. or even posted on official sites, or had management "leak" it to other sites. At this point, that could be the case with intercot,. but again, I just like to point out that it isn't official yet.. and until it is official I like to point it out that it "could still be a rumor".

FWIW, I have found the information on the official site very up to date, and correct. I have never had a problem with incorrect information.

I love the show, and it is one of my favorites. The Broadway one is the only one that pales to it...

If its closed August 24th, I will eat my words. But I won't believe it until I am standing there looking at it.. or get official word.

Because CMs never know what they're talking about.

Like a couple of weeks ago when there were no parades, fireworks, or Fantasmic! scheduled for the month of September.

Hope you're hungry!

:p

Hey, Samirella...What do you all as performers do during that time? Do you work elsewhere in the park?

Well, I hope it is true because that show will be even twice as nice in the airconditioning.:D

We'll be there during that time too. Thanks for the info. It will definately help with my planning.

samereila... just wondering what you do in the show..are you a gymnast...i love all the shows at disney..i told my daughter please work there some day so i can go visit you all the time...she is a gymnast and singer....thanks..amy

Have to say that my heart stopped when I first saw this thread. This is my favorite show at WDW. We didn't get to see it on our last trip in '01 because the other family we were with didn't care about it!! (can you imagine??) Anyway, my dh hasn't seen it at all and my dd and I are looking forward to seeing it with him next month. Phew. I'm thinking that this going the third week of August isn't such a bad thing after all. The parks hours start dropping the week-end we leave and the refurbishments start a week later.

I contacted guests services and they couldn't tell me if or when it would be closed because the dates were to far out. But I do know that I have talked to more CM's other then Samirella and they have confirmed that the show will be closed due to the work being done on the theatre. And I was just there last week and there is currently work being done and it pretty odvious that in order for them to finish the work, the theatre will need to be shut down for a period of time. But the end result will be very nice. Not only will it make the show more enjoyable because it will be air conditioned but it will also be darker in the theatre so you will be able to get the full effect of the show with all the lights. I also think more people will see the show. There are not to many places at AK where you can find air conditioning and at least during the summer people will be looking for a place to cool off and what better place then the Festival of the Lion King. We visited 2 years in a row and never seen FOTLK or Tarzan, what were we thinking.

Not to mention it will be nice for the performer to. It gets very hot in there during the summer and I know last winter it was so cold, they had to put big tubes in to feed heat into the theatre.

This has definitely made a mess of my plans. Our first day in WDW is 8/23, and we HAVE to do MK that day as it's the only time Spectro is running. I suppose we could go to AK first to check out the final day of FOTLK and then hop to MK. Oh, what to do????

We will also be there that week and according to my notes from the www.disneyworld.com site, Spectromagic will also run on 8/25. I am trying to reconfirm for you but cannot getthe site to open up.

good luck with your plans!

That's promising. I must have missed that. I also had trouble getting the official site up. Maybe they're extending our hours... ;) Naw. It was probably just a momentary lapse of reality.;)

I hear ya:) We can see Spectro on the 30th too but I still had MK planned for the 23rd. I don't know if we should hop over to AK to see FoLK.

I just double checked Disneys site and there is no Spectro listed on the 25th...only FITS at 8:30.
