We went to FLK recently and the woman who comes out dressed as a bird during Can You Feel the Love Tonight just danced around, there was no flying as in past years. Does anyone know if this is a change to the show or just a one time thing. We really missed her flying, it wasn't the same at all. Other than that, we loved the show as always.

There may have been an issue with her equipment. I've seen the new show and she was flying.

Ditto to all of the above.

"Birdie" still flies as a regular part of the show (when there are no technical difficulties.)

One time thing. May have been an equipment issue or an issue where they had to quickly use a backup dancer who wasn't trained on the flying.

That's a shame as it's a wonderful part of the show!

Thanks for the replies. We were hoping that was the case. Guess we will have to catch it next time!

New show as in not the same as 2 years ago???

It's the same show.
Although we think it is even a bit better now in several ways due to some technical improvements.

To clarify the overall discussion, the show used to be in a theater in the Camp Minnie Mickey section of the park.
That theater closed last year as the Camp Minnie Mickey section of the park is being rebuilt
as the new "Pandora/Avatar Land" area.
They built a NEW theater for Festival of the Lion King in the Africa section of the park,
and that's were the show (same wonderful show as before) runs now.

Oh awesome!!! FoLK is my most favorite thing to do/see in ak.

And it is fitting that it is in Africa now... :)

Hopefully there is still an ice cream vendor nearby, and a shady spot in line to sit and enjoy our ice cream... that is how we always managed the kids before in line while waiting... when they heard FoLK they knew it was ice cream time...lol
