We have seen this Broadway caliber show many times. The four singers were missing the older lady today. The show was not the same. I hope she is not ill.

I guess the show must go on.

Hmmm....odd. Do they only have 1 of each character? I thought they had 2? I feel like yrs ago we may get a different one during the same trip.

Even on Broadway, each character has a back up, an understudy. For every show the back up performer gets fully prepared-make up, costume, etc. then sits in his/her dressing room. Who knows when the "regular" performer gets sick, twists their ankle, for whatever reason is unable to continue. Come to think of it, maybe because on Broadway, they figure everyone in the audience paid for their ticket. But then so did everyone in the "Festival of the Lion King"audience.
I hope she's well, but where's her understudy?

Also the show is every day, right? There must be others who do the singing. People have days off.

We saw the show a few days ago. I’m thinking precovid , weren’t there more dancers at the end.

I noticed the script changed a bit. With the warthogs, when the singer would say what’s your name…..I think that Swahili for “ this is your lucky day”. Now she says, youre my new best friend.

Is audience interaction back?

If you mean , sound like an elephant and the kids circle at the end, then yes.

There are contingency plans/shows for when an actor cannot perform. In the past, the only actor they could not do the show without is Kume, the "leader". There are two casts per day for the show, but sometimes if it is an earlier show, the second cast may not be on site and they may not be able to get a sub in enough time for the show.

We had a similar situation with a show previously, too - I'm sure things happen and a spot needs to be worked around. It wasn't the same because we know the routine - but it was still fun.
