For those not finished having kids yet, 'fess up.

Do you plan your DVC vacations around your family planning. Or do you plan your family planning around your DVC vacations!!! ;) :jester: :jester:

We have 2 DD's now - both under 4. I'm sitting on the fence about adding to our family of four. DH says that he will be happy with whatever I decide since I'm the one who actually has to carry & give birth. :smooth: Smart guy, huh?

My two girls are enough for me to handle right now since I work full time (I take them with me - family business). I think it would be nice to have one more child (in the future). But I wouldn't be too, too disappointed if we don't.

DVC encourages us to plan our vacations so far in advance. I have a trip planned for 5/03 already. My next big trip would be 1/04 and I plan to reserve a OKW GV to celebrate my DD's 5th birthday. Can't wait!

So, if I plan on having another baby, I would have to do some tight planning to schedule it around these 2 trips or wait until after!! :o ;)

Meanwhile, my 2 SIL's are messing up my Disney family reunions by getting pregnant one after another. (jk) Then they want to wait 'til the kids are older to go in order to enjoy it more! Pleeeasee... older DD had been to WDW 4 times by the time she was 3!! :p

Certainly, if God blesses me with another miracle, I will be appropriately overjoyed and will re-arrange my DVC trips accordingly. However, I have to confess that when I'm actually planning my future DVC trips, I really hope that NOTHING disrupts that perfect schedule!!!

57 days to go until BWV & BCV!!!!!
:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

My god, I think we are living the same lives, except my DD's are 7 and almost 2. I work at my husbands business and am able to bring kids with me.

Yes, my husband would like another child, but like you I don't know how to fit it into my Disney schedule. My 7 year old has been to WDW 12 times and the 2 year old 4. How could another and manage another?

Well, I am wishing you the best in what ever you decide.

P.S. Leaving 7/25 for 5 day trip to OKW w/o the kids!

Last summer I really wanted a third but dh did not. We have ds 4 and dd 8. This spring dh decided he would like another child. We already had a trip planned for Thanksgiving so we just started trying for a third this month. We have decided we will give it about six months and if God blesses us with one more that will be great but like you I won't be too disappointed if it does not happen. I don't want the kids to be too spread out. Like you said two are pretty manageable. It seems a lot of people say three is pretty chaotic. So you are not alone. Yes I am planning my family around my DVC vacations. :D

If you have a third child, will you put 5 in a studio? ;) :p

Please note, I AM ONLY KIDDING!!! Please don't flame me!

But a question, if you add to your lovely family, will you also need to add to your points? (We have 4 legged kids only, so that is never a question for me :))

I have a friend at work who has 3 kids and is not sure what to do this year when she goes. (Not a DVC member). Her DD just turned 3, and now she will need to get 2 rooms most places. Oh well, I keep telling her DVC is the way to go!

This is so funny that you posted this. I am completely planning everything around my DVC vacations. DH and I just had a beautiful DD who is now around 9 1/2 months. We are in our mid-30s and definitely want to have at least one more. However, we are talking about taking our points to use them for a Disney cruise. We actually sat down and talked about how far apart we want the kids (at least 2 yrs) and when we want to go on the cruise (when DD is around 2 yrs). The other thing to take into consideration is that DCL won't let a pregnant woman cruise after 24 weeks. So, that had to go into the planning too. All of this planning, just around DVC.

But, ya gotta love it!!!

Pumbaa,

5 people in a studio? Yikes!! Although, technically 4 plus a child under 3 is allowed, I think that with young children a washer/dryer is essential.

Some people think that a studio for 4 is fine until the kids are older. I believe that a studio is better when the kids are older and we spend more time in the parks and less time in the room.

Even now we get a one bedroom for the 4 of us because:

1- We spend a lot of time in the room so the extra room is nice;

2 -The baby still naps and the kids (hopefully) will sleep early like at home so having a bedroom is ideal;

3 - Without a washer/dryer, I tend to over pack, especially for the kids.

If we're blest with another child, we would still only get a one bedroom if it's just my family. I doubt my young kids would sleep in the 2nd bedroom by themselves. Even now, they seem to wind up in our queen size bed by morning. Boy, I'm looking forward to the king size bed at DVC so that DH & I don't get squeezed out to the edge of the mattress every morning!!! By the time, the new baby is 3, I believe the older 2 should be ready for the second bedroom in the 2-bedroom.

Now if we really do have another child, I have a feeling that we would try to invite the Grandparents or one of our young cousins along to help with the kids. So, we would probably get a two bedroom anyways.

As for more points, I never feel that I have enough. In fact I'm drooling over an add-on at BVC. DVC was my gift from my DH for birthing DD #2. I got diamonds for DD #1. I much prefer DVC!!! ;) This time, I picked my own gift. It certainly gets used more. In fact, DD #1 will probably give up her future claim to the diamonds and duke it out with DD #2 over the DVC contracts!!

Hmmm,... more points for having another baby? :smooth: Actually, I think we have more than enough for now. We bought 2 resales - 150 OWK & 150 BWV (1 for each DD) - with a ton of banked points. We are still ahead of the points game because of those banked points.

nisiemouse & alikat99,

I'm glad I'm not alone! :)

Sometimes, I have so much fun planning future vacations that I think, "hey, there's no time to have another baby if I want to go at these times!" Then I think briefly that maybe I'm done with having more kids so that I can really enjoy my vacation planning.

But then I realize that the beauty of DVC is that I'm not locked into a certain time and unit size. I have 39-40 years to enjoy DVC vacations with my family - so what if the next few years of vacation planning is uncertain?

ROFL... must be our military lifestyle. We have 2 children, and we're currently trying for another baby. If we're blessed, I have no plans to cancel our November trip. I'll just ride a few less rides :). It's another reason why I love DVC and our APs - we don't feel like we have to do everything on each trip.

OK OK OK OK, I admit we completely and totally planned our 3rd and final "addition" around our DVC vacation plans, and succeeded within a narrow two month window!!. At 11 mo., we booked GV for a family Thanksgiving at HH. We did not want it to get cancelled by a pesky pregnancy. As it turned out, baby is due Oct 2nd so we will be a family of 5 by the holiday. Can't wait for the trip.

We make room in our DVC for life, Or is that vice versa??;)

Sleepy at DVC: We just purchased a small add on at BCV to bring our point total to around 300. I figured if we do have three we would definately need more points and if we don't I am sure I will not have any trouble using them. Our OKW resale had a ton of banked points also. I love the way you evenly split your resales for your dds.
Johnnie: Congratulations on your latest add on. ;)

As a mom of 3 DD's............I wouldn't have it any other way. We manage to do WDW without having to take grandparents, cousins etc (although it would be nice). We value the time we have together......just us 5!!! With DVC we can come and go as we please.

Being pregnant at Disney isn't bad (so long as it is a healthy pregnancy). We leave in less than 2 weeks and I can not wait to spend 15 days of quality family time together! While at home our lives are so busy..........DH's work, and the girls and their different activities!!

May all of you ladies that wished to be blessed with a 3rd, I wish you the best...........It only makes for a more magical trip!!!

Hi. We have 3 kids ages 7,6,3. In the past couple months, I was starting to think that maybe I wanted another baby. Up to this point, I have said "no way!" I knew that we wouldn't have a problem with our accomodations. What's one more child in a 2 bedroom? Then I started thinking about our HH plans in April. If I got pregnant now, we probably couldn't go. That wouldn't work. Then I started thinking about how we want to go on the Disney Cruise again sometime in the near future. That would cost a fortune and we don't have enough points for 5 people let alone 6. We'd have to get 2 inside staterooms to fit us all. DH only wants to stay in a stateroom with a verandah (he's spoiled now). So, we came to the conclusion that 3 is enough. I guess I do plan around Disney!
