Ferrytale Dessert Cruise vs Highway in the Sky?

I'm thinking of booking a last minute indulgence for my solo trip this weekend. Has anyone done either of these activities, and how was it? If you had to choose (again, I'll be by myself), which one would you do? I'm not big on Disney desserts so the drinks would be the main draw for me if I did the Fireworks Cruise - do you get a few drinks or just one? Thanks!!!

I've done the fireworks cruise and really enjoyed it. There are savory treats as well as the desserts and I had no problem getting refills on my glass of champagne! I also liked that they had separate activities for the kids so they were well entertained prior to the actual fireworks show. I will say - I went two summers ago when it was still Wishes; not sure how well HEA translates to being out on the water. Whatever you choose, enjoy! [Highway in the Sky is 100% on my Disney bucket list!]

Thanks for the info! I decided to do Highway in the Sky, partly because I'll be solo and I've heard it's not super fun for solo travelers, and partly because of this cold front coming through! As much as I love the ferry, it's going to be CHILLY in Orlando, especially out on the water. I'm so excited about HitS!!!!

I have a question. Where was the viewing for the fireworks? Was it up on the upper level near Cali Grill or as I saw in another review of Highway it was in an area right under the monorail. Thanks!

It was right under the monorail. I thought the view was fine though. You can't really see the projections on the castle from that distance/angle but you could see all of the fireworks fine.

Thank you! When I went in December I had the Fireworks Desert party with Plaza Garden viewing, which was AMAZING!! So having already seen the projections from a great vantage point, I believe this will be another vantage point to view the fireworks. Did the noise from the monorail spoil anything? I have just heard some reviews they had difficulty hearing the piped in music due to noise from the monorail. I did get a reservation and am looking forward to it on my solo trip in February, especially after reading your review! Thanks!

No, the monorail going overhead didn't affect the show at all. I thought it was cool to be right under it! It doesn't go by that often either. I honestly don't remember if it going overhead affected my ability to hear the music, but since I don't remember that, I would say even if it did it only takes like 10 seconds to pass. I thought we could hear the music perfectly fine! If it had really bothered me or made the show bad, I definitely would've remembered it. And I'm excited you're going! It was definitely a blast and a great way to end my trip.
