I just found this info on the Frommers web site regarding getting around in Nassau:

Water-taxis also operate between Paradise Island and Prince George Wharf in Nassau. They depart daily from 8:30am to 6pm at 20-minute intervals. Round-trip fare is $6 per person.

As I understand it, the Wonder docks at the Prince George Wharf. Is this correct? RT to Paradise Island seems awfully cheap at $6. How close to the Atlantis Hotel is this port on Paradise Island?

Has anyone taken this approach to getting around at Nassau? We would like to see the Atlantis, but aren't impressed with the excursions or their prices.

Any thoughts appreciated....

Yes, I've taken it. I would recommend a land taxi instead. It's usually $5 each way.

The water taxi is nice, but you must wait until it's completely full. Then it's a bit of a walk from the water taxi dock to Atlantis.

All this is true (waiting for it to fill up, etc.) and then a walk up to Atlantis (and it *is* uphill), but for us, this is part of the charm of being "someplace different." We always take the water taxi.

Cheap?! That's $50 for a family of 4 just to get there and back. And it's less than a mile.
