Tried to do a search for this but came up empty handed...

If DH & I want to have a few drinks @ PI, is there a boat from POFQ to/from DTD? And if so, is it free, how often does it run, etc."

This is our first (all) on-site stay. We're thinking of switching to The Peabody or Gaylord Palms, so we're thinking about all the pros and cons of staying on-site.

Yes..there's a boat from POR and FQ and also another for anyone interested from OKW and SSR;)

It runs like the buses I supposse...every 20 mins at most back and forth between DTD and the resorts.

We love staying at Port Orleans, we have stayed there 3 times!! I always vote for staying on site though...

There is a wonderful, relaxing boat ride from the resort to DTD. It is free and runs about every 20 minutes! It's great!! :boat:

Have fun!!

Just something to keep in mind,on my last visit to POFQ, the ferry would pick up at POR first, and then POFQ. The boat was often full and would bypass POFQ because there was no room left for additional passengers. :grouphug:

I've had that happen the opposite direction (at POR) as well, but we've never been passed by at either resort :)

Be sure to check the times for the boat while your there because during slower seasons it does not run as often and begins later in the day.

Staying on site does have something special about it - POFQ is a lovely and quaint resort. Not large, easy to walk around - and the walk over to POR for Boatwrights is very nice!

Enjoy!

Last month, the boats seemed to stop at POFQ in both directions. In other words the routing would be POR->POFQ->DTD->POFQ->POR.

Since POR is the bigger resort, and the distance between the two is not that large, might I suggest catching any boat that is available, no matter the direction.

I know that everybody is required to disembark at DTD, I am not sure if everybody is required to disembark at POR as well.

Yes, that boat runs from 11 am until 11 pm every 20 minutes. If you miss the evening one back, you can always take the bus. The busses run from the Marketplace from 9:30 am until 12 midnight and from the Planet Hollywood location from 11 am until 2 am. There are also taxis available out in front of World of Disney and the AMC theatres.

This may have changed but...

When we stayed at POR we heard that these boats were not considered standard Disney transportation like the buses so if there is a long line they won't necessarily run additional boats.

This is true, the boat services to DtD from Port Orleans and OKW are partially paid for by what is basically a DtD merchants association. Plus they don't have a large "fleet" of boats to put into service. I think OKW has a maximum of 2, I don't know how many PO has for a max.
