Ferdinand the Bull movie not a Disney/Pixar

I am so sad. Ferdinand the Bull has always been my favorite Disney character since I was little. Love the story... it's a Disney Short Film. I have the short film, book, music, pin, and a large plush Ferdinand with a flower in it's mouth from 1983 at what was Disney Village (Disney Springs now) Now there is a Ferdinand the Bull movie coming out in December and it's not even a Disney movie. How did they let this story slip by... It was the only movie with Walt Disney as a character (cartoon matador). I am in disbelief.

I remember listening to that story via one of the old Disney follow-along reading /records. In fact, I had to go check out the short film on youtube again and my 13-year-old daughter just watched it for the very first time and said "Mom, that was so cute!" She thinks he is adorable and is now a Ferdinand fan. I agree though, Disney missed an opportunity for sure.

Thank you for bringing some Disney magic to my family with this post, especially on such a very rainy and dreary day. =)
