Fellow Disney Poohs: If You're 6'4"+ and 350+

Look, I know there's a lot of Disney threads here about overweight and tall people (of which I am both -- thanks in part to a good old midwest farm upbrining for the past 36+ years). So I won't take up too much space and time hopefully (well, other than the space I take up in real life...heeeyoooo!).

If you're 6'4" or taller (or thereabouts), AND 350+ (or thereabouts)...or have family that is...send me a private message if you're willing to. Of course, you're welcome to post here if you like...I just didn't want to clog the main board too often.

But I'm going to Disney in December, and just want to get an idea of what experience you've had if you are BOTH big AND tall, like me. I used to play football at Iowa State (go Cyclones! ...what, nothing? no one? OK, fair enough), so I've got a lineman's body, no doubt about it. It's one thing to be 6'8" and skinny, or 5'4 and bigger, but I'm looking for someone my size who can send me some insights on anything the could or couldn't ride, tips, etc.

I mean, if you want to post in this thread, that's fine, some others may appreciate it. But feel free to message me too. Thank you all for you help.

Sorry, I don't have any insight for you. From past threads, it seems Matterhorn and Goofy's Sky School are a couple that have been an issue for many your size. I've ridden both and my opinion is, your not missing anything.

I'm sure others will help you with their experiences.

I haven't been with someone the same size as you. I have visited DLR with my brother who at the time was 6'5" and crazy skinny. I suspect height will be a bigger issue for most rides. He found CS to be a bit of a squeeze in terms of leg room but managed okay. I don't remember any major problems although it was a long time ago so things have changed.

I'm not that size, but dh is. I think the only rides that were uncomfortable (but still doable) were Goofy's Sky School in DCA & the Astro Orbiter....which is nauseating & nothing you'll miss

I am 6'6" not as big. Rides that are doable but tight:

California screaming (I cross my feet and that gets me the last bit of room)
Space Mountain (I ride in the rear seat. I am not positive the rear seat is the biggest though)
Pooh ride I think the front seat has more leg room???

Matterhorn. Tight and a rough ride...

That's about it for me... Other rides are fine... I would not even try Goofy Barnstormer...

You will be fine on pretty much everything except Matterhorn and Rockets in Tomorrowland.

My DH is an inch taller and around the same weight but has long legs.

Matterhorn was a tight fit & uncomfortable. Space Mtn…what can I say, our car was pulled over to the side because he took too long to get in. I think if his legs hadn't been long it would have just been a tight fit. The rest of the DL rides went from 'no problem' (most of them) to taking a bit longer to get in, but really I think it was more his height than weight. He kinda had to 'fold himself' into them but not enough to cause a problem or be 'a spectacle' if that's a concern. The 'cross your legs' trick works btw. I use it and I'm not pooh-sized. It just makes getting in the ride vehicles easier. Also, grab the seat belt before you sit and pull it up & across as you sit.

Goofy's Sky School, nope. No way. We haven't been on the swings or the Zephyr. CA Screamin & RSR a 'tight fit' but doable. The rest of them are pretty much OK.

When you're in line, try to keep an eye out for people around your size ahead of you & see how they do. DH was surprised at how many 'big guys' (over 6', not skinny) there were.

Many thanks to those who have responded so far. And again, I apologize, I've lurked the boards for years and years, and I've read the Pooh threads, but there has always been good insight, just not specific.

I've been losing, and still losing, so I hope to be around 330 or so by the we go in December. Still far too heavy, but better than right now.

Hey there fellow large guy! I am exactly your size. height and weight. You should not worry about too much my friend. Almost everything is okay for guys our size. I have been on everything except Goofys sky school, and the Astro Orbiter both of which I have heard would be very uncomfortable for me. Space mountain is a tight fit, but doable, it's more the leg room than anything, The pooh ride is also very tight for leg room, but super wide. You may find the same at Monsters inc.
Don't stress too much and just have fun. It also helps on rides with a seat belt to pull it out before you sit. The seatbelts are always more than long enough, but can be hard to get out after you sit.

If you have a question about a specific ride just ask, and I'll let you know how it was for me!
I'll be there the first week in December so if you are there at that time keep an eye out for a fellow lineman!

I'm a big guy at 6'2" 350. Matterhorn and Space Mt. are doable, but you'll have to wedge yourself in, same with Autopia. In many rides (Pooh, Big Thunder, most of the Fantasy Land dark rides) you'll be happier sitting in your own row or with a small kid with your knees to the side. On most rides you'll have no problems at all. Lap belts at disney are loooooong, so no issues there on any ride.

Lane, many thanks. I'm actually not too terribly "worried" about the trip, because I do know Disney is friendlier than every other park for large people, but it's definitely good to have someone with some knowledge about it. Thanks. I'll look through and think of any questions I might have.

My biggest concerns off the top of my head (from reading others) were: California Screamin, Matterhorn, Radiator Springs Racers, and Space Mountain. I had already written off Astro Orbiter and Goofy's for the most part.

Well, looks like Matterhorn is closed when we are there in February. So guess that won't be a concern. :-(

One thing to note on the Pooh ride... The front row has more knee room, but not foot room, so if you have bad knees you will want to be careful. You have to be able to really bend your knees if you have long legs.

Okay, here you go.
California Screamin' GO DO IT NOW! So fun. a little tight, but the shoulder restraints come down over the top and hold you no problem. I went on it for the first time on my last trip as I had always skipped it with worries about being told I was too fat to ride. No worries there. Leg room is tight, but very doable for such a blast of a ride.

Matterhorn: Ugg, so much worse since the refurb a couple of years ago. Still doable, but your knees will get a beating because of no leg room. It is once a trip ride for me. It's such an icon I can't skip it, but once is all my knees can take.

Space I covered above. Doable, tight, no leg room, but I do it at least once a trip. the hardest part is the lap bar comes over both your legs with your knees together, and they are pinned right up against the seat in front of you. Still a must do for me, it is so fun!!!!

RSR's: NO WORRIES AT ALL!!!!! Seats a fine, lap belt is long, just pull it out before you sit and enjoy one of the best rides ever!!!!!! Try to go at least twice, once in the daylight and once at night. Totally different feels!
