Fell down the stairs and broke tiba, fibia and ankle---offered surgery or casting

At Scottish Rite. When we called the ambulance they first to us to Kennestone Hospital but once they Xrayed her leg and saw the break they decidedto send her to Childrens. They were wonderful! It ended up being a blessing because the orthopaedic surgeon who was called in and that did the surgery was the dr. my DD was seeing for scoliosis.

Where did you go?

I was at West Paces Ferry before it closed. My doctor had an outpatient surgery center there attached to his office. Once the surgery was over, they wheeled me over to the hospital for a 2 day stay. My doctor was/ is Dr. Gillogly who is now the ortho to the Falcons and Thrashers. Now he only does surgery at Northside. He's done my sister and dad's knee surgeries as well. Scottish Rite is awesome!!

I broke my ankle in 2 places in Sept 08 and had a plate and 4 pins put in. I was in a wheelchair for several weeks and then crutches. I ended up missing 8 weeks of work and went on temporary disability. I could have done my desk job weeks sooner, however, I couldn't be released to come back to work until I was off my narcotic pain pills.
I still have my hardware in and I have a slight limp even now. I agree with others that weather changes bother my ankle for a day or so. Definitely do your PT and take it seriously! I had a semi recumbant cycle that I used a lot during that period and it made a huge difference! My Pt could tell when I hadn't been using it.
Hope you heal quickly. Don't ever push yourself too hard. I found out the hard way. i went with the no pain, no gain, philosophy and then I would overdo it and be flat on my back for several days afterwards.
