Oh boy..I started in August at 200 and got down to 189.6 2 weeks ago. I don't know what has happened. The last 3 days I've gotten on the scale and it was slowly crepping up and today it read 194!! What have I done?!?!? You would think that would stop me and get me back on track but I've been thinking about pizza and chinese food every day lately. I think maybe I've been too good and am just tired of it all, like it's not worth all this EFFORT and I'll just fail anyway..like I'm doing now!! I was so pumped in the beginning and avoiding temptations was simple. How do you keep on doing it?

I woke up this am feeling sad because I knew the scale would be up again. I was flipping the tv channels and saw the Firm infomercial and watched almost the whole thing just wishing to look like that. I'm so bummed. I'll try to be good today but I just had to vent..thanks for any support or magic miracles you have to offer.

((HUGS))),

First off- You are not a failure! Look how much weight you lost. Gaining a little over 4 pounds back does not make you a failure.

You came to WISH, that is a great step in the right direction. Right this minute.............STOP whatever you are doing and tell yourself that you are awesome, that you can do it and that you WILL get back on track right this very minute. Not at the end of the day, not tomorrow and not on Monday, but today- RIGHT NOW!

You can do it. Whatever you ate or did in the past is in the past. It's over and this very minute is a new minute. It's never to late to get back on track. Think about how you felt when you wrote this post, how you felt while watching that FIRM commerical, or how you felt when you were 200 pounds back in AUGUST! You can do it- I have faith. Stop whatever you are doing and just DO IT!

What plan do you do? Do you have a PM buddy? If you don't- PM me, or someone else who motivates you. We are here for you, and you are not doing this alone.

Good luck- and we are here for you
Melanie

Let's start with a {{{HUG}}}. You are not a failure! If you were you wouldn't even bother posting or coming to this board!

You got off to a great start! You didn't say what plan you are on but I would say look at that first. What worked for you in the beginning, why is it so hard now?

The most important thing to remember is that you are not on a diet - you are changing your lifestyle to something healtier!
In life we all have things that happen that make us go off track. Some are happy things like birthdays, weddings, etc. Others are not so happy things like stress, illness, etc. The important thing is that we learn to live with what life gives us and still keep our goal in mind.

I'm doing WW online and it has helped me evaluate portion sizes and what are good and bad choices for me. Does that mean that I avoid everything that is bad? No! Does it mean I think twice before eating it and looking at how much I can and should eat?
Yes!

I've only been doing this for about 7 weeks and I felt like I was losing a little motivation and the weight wasn't coming off as quickly as before. That's when I knew it was time for me to get my body moving with some exercise. I started doing WATP and feel great this week.

It doesn't matter what you've eaten the last two weeks. What is more important is what are you going to do and eat for the next two, and the two after that etc.

You start today with a clean slate - get back on your plan - or maybe get a new plan if you found that one wasn't right for you.

We're here to support you!

Oh yea,
Pizza and Chinese food are not bad (unless you are doing Atkins, low carb or South beach), don't feel down and depressed. I eat pizza several times a week-including last night. What matters is portion control. If I have pizza for lunch, I have 1 slice, if I have it for dinner I have 2. If I have two pieces (usually 14 points for two), then I just watch what I eat for the day and I can't have anything else high in points.

I have lost over 36 pounds eating pizza several times a week. I also eat chinese food. I eat out all the time! Probably 3-5 times a week, I eat out-sometimes more. I do it, and I still loose weight. I don't starve myself! I have hamburgers, bratwurst, pizza, mexican food, chinese food, italian food. I have peanut butter almost every day. I just make healthier choices, eat more fruits and vegetables, find things that are filling but low in points...etc!

You can do this-

I'm sending huge hugs  your way! Oh boy, have I been there!! ::yes::

There are days when this all just feels like TOO MUCH WORK!! But there's one thought that usually pulls me through it.

I'm going to be alive for however long God gives me on this earth. I get to CHOOSE how I want to spend that life. I'm going to eat every day - I get to CHOOSE which foods. I can choose to eat the stuff that makes me feel fat and unhealthy and worthless or I can choose to love myself by eating food that makes me feel good about my body and helps me to get more healthy.

I'm going to eat anyway, right? I may as well choose the healthy foods most of the time because they allow me to shed extra pounds and avoid some awful diseases like diabetes and heart disease and have more energy to do things with my loved ones and friends.

Choose what's good for you and what will help you to feel good about yourself. Don't expect to be perfect - none of us are - just choose to be healthy more than you choose to be unhealthy.

Once you get the ball rolling and see the changes start, that helps to keep you motivated. This beginning part is hard but I know you can make it.

Lean on us - we're here to help you through. We'll answer questions, help with problems, support you when things get tough and celebrate your successes - and you WILL have successes!!!

Chin up now! Pick an eating plan. Drink lots of water. Move your body a little bit - even if it's just a walk around the block.

Onward and downward!! :sunny:

We all have days where we just want to call it quits. You just have to remember that we are NOT dieting, we are making lifestyle changes. You can not deprive yourself of food you love. Eat what you want, just smaller portions like Melanie said.

I have lost almost 45 pounds, and I still eat pizza, subs, McDonalds and pretty much everything else I want.

I've also just came off 3 weeks of major bad eating, but I started to workout and that seems to be getting me back on track. It's so hard to keep at this, but I look at pictures from February and realize I don't want to be that person anymore...in one picture I am holding my new niece and I look so unhappy that it breaks my heart to think how I was back then.

So I am back to portion control, writing down everything I eat and drinking lots of water.

I also have that picture on my fridge along side of a picture from my 20's when I was at my lowest weight...when I'm tempted to eat something I shouldn't like real icecream) I see those 2 pictures and stop and have a glass of water or some low points food instead.

You should'nt feel bad. The you have realized that starving your self is not the answer and now you need to focus. I don't know your plan but i have lost my weight soley by portion control. I can eat anything i want to but in moderation. I also drink water all day long! I have a reg pepsi in the morning and then water all i can hold literally all day. Do your homework find out what a portion of food is. Read the serving sizes on packages you prepare for supper and only eat that recommended serving of food. For meats 4oz is plenty you'll be suprised an delighted how far you can strecth food during the week. IE not having to cook everynight! I grill off a pack of chicken we may have some with mustard and onions grilled up together the next night off that same pack i can make fajatis! Baked spagetti portioned out and scored can last two nights for you a serving is 2 oz's. You will find yourself NOT hungry not deprived if you EAT while you LOOSE. Start with your next meal don't worry about the last 2 weeks start today. I wish you the best.

You have had so many great suggestions and very inspirational and hopeful messages. Isn't that what makes WISH so great? {{{{HUGS}}}} to you. I think that a few pounds like that could easily be water. Also, I find when I'm stressed, I stop paying attention to portion size and the weight creeps back on. It then becomes cyclical. You have done great. Treat yourself to some incredibly healthy food, realize that those infomercials are loaded with "your milage may vary" individuals, and feel proud that you have taken some very important steps to become a healthy, life loving person! I know you can do this! Failure is not an option or even in a WISHers vocabulary! Cheer up aweety. You are still in onderland! What an amazing accomplishment!

Keep the Faith!

{{{Hugs}}} to you, I know how you feel. I have been there and done that as I'm sure most of us have. The most important thing is that you don't feel like a failure, because you are a success. You have recognised that you have a weight problem and that you want to do something about it. OK you may have put a little of the weight back on that you lost, but you are still at a lower weight than when you first started. It doesn't matter how long this journey takes us as long as we get where we want to be. Yesterday is over and so you have a clean slate today, with which to work. If you feel like you want to eat pizza and Chinese food go for it, do not deprive yourself. Like others have already said just check your portions. Like Tammy, I do not follow a specific plan. I eat whatever I want to eat, I just make sensible choices and keep my calorie intake under 1200. I find that allowing myself to eat whatever works better for me. So decide what is going to work best for you. There are lots of different plans that you can use, or you can always come up with your own. Drink lots of water and exercise and you will soon see those pounds coming of again. Good luck :grouphug:

I wish I was as big a failure as you! ::yes:: You are doing a great job. And just because you are hitting some rough patches now does NOT make you a failure!

{{{{HUGS}}}} We've all "been there" -- that's what makes our WISH support group so incredibly special. This is a tough journey we're all on, whether we have 10 pounds to lose or 300 pounds to lose.

I agree with everything already said, so the only additional piece of advice I have:

Stay off those darned scales ;)

Get yourself back to realizing that you are a phenomenal person for even taking this challenge upon yourself, and don't get on those scales for at least a week. You know that gain is water ... and it will go away !

Thanks guys :teeth: :teeth:

I was just having a pitty party for myself I guess. My plan is just portion control I suppose. I did Jenny Craig 12 yrs ago and lost all my weight and over the years w/ marriage and kids they slipped back onto me. I used to write everything down and that worked well for me. My plan is just not to eat crap - too much anyway!! I've tried Atkins type and that did not work for me at all.

I know people say to stay off the scales but I was making such great progress it was motivating to get on everyday and see those fractions disappearing.

I think I've eaten the rest of the leftover chocolate Halloween candy so maybe the storm is over..haha.

Thanks for the big kick in the booty...I really needed it  I think I'm stressing over my upcoming trip to Disney too and looking decent for once in the pictures. It's crazy how vacations freak us out to no end.

Thanks again...

(((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))
You aren't a failure, you are a success because you just keep trying, even though you want to give up :D
I have been having the same problems lately, and some of it is my backsliding and some is the wacky water gain I have been having...I mean a difference of 2.5 lbs on the scale from day to day!
Sometimes that scale can be a hinderance to our goals...it makes us look at the short term, instaed of the long term, where we should be focused!
I hope you have a wonderful time on your trip!

Wow! Everyone has setbacks. Don't be so hard on yourself! Make a plan for some legal snacks you can have. Have those available. Congrats on the weight you lost and having the courage to confess on WISH. Take care and don't stay discouraged.:grouphug:

{{{Hugs}}} I'm glad you're feeling better about this! And you should feel better because you are definately not a failure!! You are doing lots of things right--beginning with coming here to share your feelings!

You've already gotten lots of good advice, so I won't repeat what others said, but I did notice that you asked....
How do you keep on doing it?

One thing that motivates me is setting goals. Not only do I feel great when I reach the goal, bu it lets me break my losses into smaller, more manageable amounts. If I had to think about losing the whole 130 lbs I need to lose, I would probably have just quit at the beginning! Maybe this would work for you, too. Why not check out the Thanksgiving or New Years challenge threads and see if you would like to join in?

Another good motivator is the Cheat Free Challenge. The original challenge was for 100 days, but lately several WISH'ers have set goals of 30 days. You really could choose any number of days you wanted to try for! And Jody (wovenwonder) came up with a cute new clippie for the Cheat Free Challenge!

I hope you have a great time on your upcoming trip! Hang in there!

Please don't ever think of yourself as a failure. I keep motivated by remembering that I am doing this for me and me alone. Nobody else's perception of your body matters. Somebody else mentioned (and I'm right there with them) that you shouldn't buy into those "results not typical" type commercials. Those heavenly women with heavenly bodies don't motivate me...the REAL women on this board who are living the WISH every day is what does it for me!

I am also using a type of portion control....I have the most trouble burning fats (rather than carbs and sugars), so I limit myself to 20-25 grams of fat a day and drink lots and lots of water. That way, I can have that piece of chocolate cake as long as I've had low-fat meals throughout the day. Whether you're on a plan or not, read the label for everything you eat. If you know what's going into your body, you'll feel more in control.

Keep your chin up! You have lots of support here!

Okay so I read that you are doing portion control and also craving Pizza and Chinese Food. So why don't you have it? Order a Cheese pizza or a Veggie Pizza take 2 slices out of the box and then walk away from it. Make a big salad and have that along with your pizza. I did this on WW and was always full. If you are craving Chinese Food order a cup of Hot and Soup Soup, or Egg Drop Soup and then order a half of Chicken and Broccoli with Sauce on the Side. Or Beef and Broccoli - or anything based with a protein and a veggie and eat that.

Don't give up because you have come so far already. If the scale is creaping up you might just need to try something different. Exercise a little different or drink an extra glass of water.

(HUGS)
