Feeling Hot Hot Hot! The Rain Curse is Broken! Two Weeks of Fun in the Sun! COMPLETE

SO VERY COOL! It's my dream to walk around a park that empty and get to ride things (instead of just getting in early to eat breakfast with no rides).

We love the new Star Tours, too! We've never been the spy, but I always love how it catches people off guard, even if they know that *somebody* will be picked as the spy!

All caught up from Universal to present!!! I've been away from the boards for a bit! What an awesome trip thus far. Your pictures are so detailed. Thank you for keeping such good notes!

I have to take detailed notes, if I didn't I would never remember stuff when writing reports almost a year later.

Yes, it was so fun for us to see who would get picked after that first go on the ride. Of course, your chances are better when there are only five people on the ride. ;)

Wookie dust hahaha I like that. Grats on getting in so early!

Guess they took Minnie to the dark side for a moment or two.

I can't believe you got into the park an hour early! That's so awesome! The new Star Tours is so much fun, too and riding it 3 times is a great start to a Star Wars Weekend day.

I have a twisted mind, when I think Wookie Dust my mind immediately goes to Chewie having a bad case of dandruff! :scared1:

It was so unbelievably lucky, totally worth the early wake up.

May 22nd continued

It was 8:20 in the morning. We had already been on Star Tours three times and we had been to Jabba's Hut to browse the special Star Wars Weekends merchandise. The rest of the Star Wars activities were not due to start for another hour or so, we had time to kill. What is the best way to "kill time" at 8am at DHS? Toy Story Mania of course!

The wait was listed as 20 minutes but it was almost a walk on. We walked all through the queue and then up the stairs to the final part of the queue before we were stopped by the line.

Sadly, because there was only the three of us one had to ride alone and that fell to me. It is not as much fun playing this game "by yourself" but I still had a good time.

IMG_3622.jpg

It was 8:45 by the time we got off the ride so we decided that it was time to start finding some Star Wars character lines to join.

Very close to Toy Story were the lines for Darth Vader and Boba Fett. The line for Vader was ridiculously long and the boys vetoed that. I didn't mind as I had gotten my picture with him in 09. Instead we got in line for Boba Fett. It was not a long line yet and so we were fairly close to the front. We planted ourselves on the concrete and entertained ourselves while we waited. From our position we could see when Vader and Boba came out.

Boba came out for pictures at 9:30 so we had waited in line for about 40 minutes. Seems long but if we hadn't gotten in line when we did it would have been an even longer wait as the line had grown long behind us and that would have thrown us off-track for the rest of the day.

First up, Alek and Erich

So what was Mom doing while we were having fun at DHS?

She had made her way over to the Magic Kingdom for rope drop.

You got some great pictures on this update! I love the one of Darth Vader by himself. And your mom with Tink (the one with her mouth open) is ADORABLE. I love your shirt, too. :)

Aw how fun! We loved our trip in 2008 for SWW and the photos with the characters. They were so good about really staying IN character!

I was thinking if we did our possible SWW quick trip this June that the girls (me and DD9) would do something else while the boys did the SWW stuff because I don't think DD cares to have the photos with Vader and Fett! I was thinking we'd stay at HS and do other non-SWW stuff but maybe we should just do MK instead like your mom? ;) Too cute!

Decisions, decisions! Can't wait to read more as always! :)

i have had a BLAST reading your trip report! i cant wait for more. your mom is so cute and your brothers are hilarious! i cant believe you went to universal and didnt see the beetlejuice show! its so good and a lot of fun. also dont be disappointed you didnt eat at lombards. back in the day they had really good food, we always ate there when we went to universal but my husband and i ate there a couple years ago and it kinda sucked! now that i am all caught up on this report im gonna go back and read your others because they are just too good! i love the two week vacations, thats how i prefer to go to disney so you can relax and do everything you want! cant wait to read more!

Just a warning about staying at DHS, they have started spreading the Star Wars stuff out around the park so expect higher than normal crowds everywhere and not just around Star Tours. Personally, if I wasn't going to do the Star Wars stuff I would avoid the park.

I am so glad you enjoyed the report so far!

I am not too disappointed about missing out on Lombard's, I got my Hard Rock mac and cheese instead so all was good in my world. ;)

That's awesome that they had special Star Wars meet and greets. Although, for Star Wars Weekend, I'm not sure what else I would expect? Anyways... I would totally wait in line for Darth! But yeah, once is enough! Boba Fett's cool too.

Oh my gosh, those pictures of your mom are precious! Looks like she was having some nice alone time!

Star Wars Weekends has the character meet and greets, includes movie characters, tv show characters and Disney characters dressed up as Star Wars characters. There are also celebrity autograph sessions, discussion panels, etc. There is the Star Wars parade. The Jedi Training Academy is usually amped up for the Weekends. There is the special merchandise. The hyperspace hoopla which is the show that ends the festivities for the day. But yeah, it is mostly about the character meets.

How awesome that you guys got in early! Great pictures of your mom too!

We were hoping to be in WDW for SWW this year, but had to move the vaca to April. I'd love to get DD and DH there for it!

Lessa, I am finally caught up again.

How neat that you guys got to get in extra early and ride Star Tours so many times before the park officially opened. I got to be the Rebel Spy last month (I had no idea what people were talking about prior to my trip until I saw my face :lmao::lmao::lmao:).

Sounds like you and your brothers accomplished quite a bit that early in the morning. I do have to admit I ahve no idea who it is you had your picture taken with. :confused3

I love the photopass pictures of your mom on her solo journey into the MK...she looks great!

Ah well, I am sure you will get there someday!

You don't know Boba Fett?! You must not be a Star Wars fan. ;) That is okay, that is why Mom didn't go to DHS with us that day.

May 22nd continued

After our pictures with Boba Fett we made our way into the Streets of America. We weren't sure where each character would be set up. They do hand out special Star Wars maps but they usually just indicate a character spot and not which exact character is there. So we just wandered around to each spot to see who was there. Back in the Streets of America we saw Anakin (Clone Wars version) out for pictures. There was also a line for other characters from the animated Clone Wars show. We skipped over those lines.

We did find this Storm Tropper set-up with a photopass photographer. The photographer had some fun with us. Alek and Erich came up with the two-headed Storm Trooper on their own but the photographer also gave us some direction for poses.

We then wandered down into the main Star Wars area. The one character that we had to get a picture with was Chewy. Of course his line was going to be ridiculously long as he is an extremely popular character. Lucky for us the line was mostly in the shade and there was also a ledge that we could sit on while we waited. The picture spot for Chewy was across from Star Tours where the speeder is located. The line extended all the way back to the Sci-Fi Cafe. This was an improvement over the placement of the line in 2009. In 09 they had us lined up on the other side and the entire line was exposed to the scorching sun.

We (I) was excited to see that they had Ewoks out for pictures with Chewy as well. Since the line was so long the characters went on several rest breaks while we waited. The ewok did not always return with Chewy so it was going to be luck of the draw if he was up there with Chewy when we got there.

The view of the crowds around Star Tours while we were waiting. Insane! I was so glad that we gotten into the park so early and that we had grabbed those fastpasses for later.

Who doesn't love an ewok? They are so cute!

As we got closer to the front of the line I saw that the ewok was no longer with Chewy. :sad1:

A family behind us in line asked if they could cut in front as their kid had to go to the bathroom but they were so close to the front that they didn't want to lose their spot in line. I let them and I was sure glad we did as the ewok came back out! If we had gone before them we would have missed him!

It was finally our turn after about an hour of waiting. Insane right?

We enjoyed our time with Chewy but my favourite Star Wars picture will always be this one from my 2009 trip.

Meanwhile back in the Magic Kingdom Mom had also gotten into an hour long line. That's right, our family did get those Rapunzel pictures that we missed out on our earlier MK days, too bad it was just Mom who was there, I would have loved to meet Rapunzel and Flynn! Apparently Flynn Rider no longer comes out for pictures except for at special events. So sad!
