Feeling Hot Hot Hot! The Rain Curse is Broken! Two Weeks of Fun in the Sun! COMPLETE

Lessa, I am a few updates behind (darn vacations!).

I love your tour through World Showcase...your pictures are wonderful. I could spend hours and hours there.

I especially love the photo opportunity with Belle and the Beast and, of course, your brothers.

Just spent the last 5 nights enjoying your trippie, that I discovered on the US bit. Don't know what I'm going to do with myself now i've caught up. Thanks very much.

I am glad you came over to read the rest and to say hello. :goodvibes

It is always tough catching up on the Dis once you get back from vacation.

Me too! I love World Showcase. :goodvibes

love all the pictures!!

And I've never seen Belle or the Beast, that is too cool. :cool1:

We have seen them in the past, most of the time it is just Belle out at that location. Sometimes it is all about lucky timing.

Just chillin

What an awesone picture! Great catch!

We spent a fair amount of time just watching the animals and not rushing through, no need to hurry. :thumbsup2 As we were leaving I noticed the mist effect that they have as you exit the trail, I like it.

Gorillas in the Mist! :rotfl:

Wow, so colorful!

This guy had personality! He came on over to the glass when he saw us and struck that pose.

Hey You! I got my eyes on you!!!

Overall I enjoyed Rafiki's Planet Watch. There are several things to do and it was a nice way to mix up our usual Animal Kingdom routine. I don't know if I would visit every trip but it is something I would do again.
Really enjoyed the RPW update. This is one we haven't taken the time to do either, but it looks like it would be well worth a trip over to check it out!

Lessa, sorry I got so far behind! I have tried two or three times to get caught up and the DIS just would not cooperate! I can relate to your issues with the heat. When we finally got to go late last summer it was the same way and we found ourselves just bailing a lot of the time. Of course, that means a more relaxing vacation too! :goodvibes

Rosie as self-proclaimed President of the Brother's Grimm fan club! I can definitely see that.:rotfl: Even with the heat, they were still in rare form!

Yes, this vacation was definitely more relaxing than our others. There was a hardly a day that went by that did not find us in the pool.

Love the pictures of the boys with Beast and Belle...

And they must be getting tired because your last few family pictures have been really good... :lmao:

And did you change the colors of the pictures with a different setting on your camera or using a photo editor??? Love them!!! Great job!!! :thumbsup2

 Yes, we were all feeling a bit done out. The heat was draining.

It was setting on the camera. I can use a colour select option so only a certain colour shows up. In the Japan photos I colour selected for red and then blue. I can also do sepia, and black and white and several other effects. It is fun to fiddle with from time to time.

A short update to wrap up the day.

May 21st continued

The heat was getting rather unbearable and we decided that we wanted to head back to the resort and hit the pool. The luxury of visiting WDW several times is that we no longer feel the need to stay in the parks from open to close. There were no guilty feelings about leaving the park to go relax in the hotel pool.

I wanted to use our Test Track fastpasses before we left so we made a quick stop there. Mom and Erich had chosen not to ride earlier in the day so it was just Alek and I.

IMG_3573.jpg

Test Track may not provide huge thrills but I think it is still fun. Alek thinks it is a waste of time.

I made sure to get our ride photo on our photopass card before we left. I wish they would offer this with all the rides, maybe they are afraid it would cut down on sales? :confused3

We wandered through the lovely air conditioning of Mouse Gears and Innovations West before exiting the park.

Another Flower and Garden display that was still up.

We left the park right around 3pm, it was 102F not including the humidity. :faint:

We were eager to get back to the resort so we could hop in the pool.

When we got back the parking lot by our building was packed full of cars. This had been an irritant for me for most of the trip. The resort also serves as a conference centre and they were leaving the gates of the resort up so that the conference guests (and anybody else really) could drive back to the resort guest parking since the conference parking was full. Well, this of course meant that the actual resort guests had limited parking options. :headache:

Sign for the conference

We got up to our room and I didn't have my room key. Where did it go? I had it out in the car in case we needed it to lift the gate (which we didn't because they had it lifted for the conference.:headache: ).

Mom had her key so she let us into the room while I retraced my steps to look for my key. I found it on the sidewalk in the parking lot. So glad I found it!

Mom and I made our way to the pool right away. Alek and Erich loitered in the room for a bit to watch tv and play their game systems.

The pool was packed, no wonder considering how hot it was that day! Once again they had entertainment staff there playing music and organizing pool games. When Alek and Erich showed up they participated in a game of tug of war in the pool.

It was lovely getting to relax in the pool and beat the heat. I have no idea how long we stayed there, probably about 1-2 hours.

That night we went off property for dinner. We ended up at TGI Friday's. Good food, decent prices. I will spare you the food porn pictures, I assume most or all of you have eaten at a Friday's. ;) We like to eat here on vacation because we don't have them in Canada, at least not anywhere that I have lived or visited. The food was yummy and filling and the service was good. :thumbsup2

We went back to the resort after that, watched some Harry Potter and then went to bed early. Alek, Erich and I had an early wake-up call in place as we were heading to Star Wars Weekends in the morning!

That F&G display is adorable. :goodvibes
Ahh, humidity. It's a beautiful thing, really. Thankfully I'm used to it hahah.
Oh gosh, glad you found your Key to the World! That would have been awful!

102 degrees you say??:scared1: WOW!! No wonder you wanted to head straight to the pool! I certainly don't blame you. We're taking my niece and nephew down in May and I'm hoping they can stand the heat for that long. I mean we get some pretty warm summers here in GA, but it's different when you're out in it all day long!

Awesome update! You take some of the prettiest pictures I've ever seen!:thumbsup2

I used to be able to handle the humidity, got used to it from living in Virginia Beach. I think I have been back in Canada for too long, can't take it anymore! I can't stand the cold either though, never got used to it when we moved back up north.

Yep, it was stinking hot and humid that day. We were lucky during the first half of the trip, the temperature wasn't too bad. Towards the end though the temperature was sky-rocketing.

I can't wait to hear about Star Wars weekends! I keep wanting to go back, I just haven't made it.

That exchange with the Beast and Belle was just hilarious. I've said it before, but I just don't know how you do it with your bros. Hahaha.

I have had a lifetime to build up a tolerance. ;)

Was the TGI Fridays you went the one at crossroads if it was then I have a funny story from it from our family trip in 1998. We were staying at the Tree house Vilas at the Disney Institute. and there was a checker board in the living room. Anyway one of the nights we were there we went to Dinner at the TGI Fridays in crossroads and there was a mess up in the kitchen with our order and it had to be recooked a couple of times. The manager came over to apologies for it and we said that it wasn't to much of a problem. My Dad had one question for him though it was about playing checkers and if you have an opportunity to double jump someone do you have to do it?

Also about the humidity I Don't really notice it to much when I've been down there maybe it's because it sometimes gets that hot here in Toronto, sometime it will be 30 degrees Celsius (86 Fahrenheit) and feel like 40 (104 Fahrenheit).

Nope, it wasn't that Friday's but we have been to that location before on previous trips.

Oh, it gets like that here as well (we are only 2 1/2 hours east of you) BUT it is not a constant thing, usually only for a few days of the summer, AND we are not walking around in it all day. ;) Most of the time though Ontario has pretty nice summers, not too hot.

Very true but for some reason we seam to have a lot more hot days then else where in the Provence. Maybe it's because of the buildings downtown. The only good day in the summer now are then ones when we have a nice breeze of the lake which seams to be rare. This year wasn't to bad though we only had about 4 or 5 heat alerts this year.

102 with humidity beats Vegas! Yikes! We are good for 107 with 10% humidity. But Florida, its like you need a shower every 20 mins.

I could never bring myself to book at Coronado Springs. I have southwest style here e v e r y d a y.

Maybe it is the Toronto pollution that adds to the muggy summer weather. ;)

 Well, no Southwest style up here. ;) The rooms were the main draw in my opinion, more so than the theme of the exterior of the buildings. Nice big beds, optional free microwave, privacy doors in the sink area. :thumbsup2
