Ok,
My turn to do a little whining..........I know it won't last forever because I have been totally on program, I started exercising last week..........but man is it depressing when you see the scale go up even when your doing all the right things. I also saw a stall about 3 weeks ago, and I had two really good weeks including loosing almost 3 pounds last week.

What I did differently this week:

1.
I started the WW "Flex Points" last week, and made my target 22 points with my bank of 35 flex points. I ate at least my 22 points, and actually tried to get my extra flex points in by drinking milk and/or eating extra fruit.
Last night we went to Cracker Barrell, and I had 2 AP points and 10 flex points left, so I had one of my favorite meals. I used all my flex points for the week.

2.
I started eating prunes this week. I started having 2 prunes with a glass of water each morning when I wake up. Again, an extra 1 point in fruit.

3.
I started exercising this week. Friday evening I did a 3 mile WATP's. Saturday morning and afternoon I did the 3 mile WATP. Sunday Morning I did the 3 mile WATP's.

4.
I earned AP points, more on Saturday, but I only used 1.5 of the 4 I earned on Saturday. Friday & Sunday I used all of the 2 AP points I earned.

Plus during the middle of the week I got my TOM.

I know that I had several changes this week, and all or some of them could cause a gain.

My weight stayed about the same during the first half of the week, and I gained towards the end of the week. Ok, I can hear Katholyn telling me I shouldn't get on the scale so much!! I do know that it flucuates up and down, I guess with the changes this week, I really was hoping that I wouldn't see it go up. And I do know that it will eventually start the downward climb again.

Ok..........enough whining. I am done. On with week 2 of the FLEX PLAN. I can't give it up now, or I will never know if it was just timing or the flex plan that is making me gain. Maybe I will get lucky and I will either be the same or loose even .2 at my weigh in tonight!

Plus, what better time to have the extra Flex points since I am going home to Vegas to visit my mom.

I'll post tonight and let you know how it went.

Melanie

Hey Melanie! I won't get too down on you since I myself did some whining not too long ago! :)

There could be many factors that contribute to a slow/non moving scale...TOM, water, fluctuations in muscle, etc....

Don't be too hard on yourself! I am trying the FLEX program for the first time this week and will see how it goes on Wed...but you are right, you should try it for a few weeks before you say it is the program. JMHO. :)

Keep up all the hard work! You are making great life changes and you are inspiring the rest of us!!! :)

Have fun!! :)

Melanie,

I am so sorry that you are discouraged - you are always so upbeat and motivated it seems. I am always so inspired after your posts filled with information and hints! It seems like you did exactly what you were suppose to do this week and I am sorry that you did not see a loss for all that work.

I am at about the same place as you - not losing at all and it is frustrating. I am trying to remember that I am healthier from all of this even if there is no weight coming off right now.

Here is TONS of PD that you and I will see a loss this next week!:D

Hi Melanie,

I hope your WI goes well tonight. But even if you don't see a change, it doesn't mean you haven't made progress. Every week on plan is progress and your body will show it when its ready :)

Here's a pat on the back for being so GREAT at knowing what you eat and staying on track!!! Whenever I get stuck on a week where I felt like I should see some scale movement and DON'T I just look at the big picture. I want to be at goal averaging 1-2 pounds of loss a week. So when I have those big 3 pound loser weeks- it's almost always followed by a maintenance week- don't know why it just works out that way. But in the back of my head I keep chanting "Eat less, move more!" And I also have a little Katholyn whispering..."Measure, measure, measure..." and another little fairy uttering " less carbs, more protein and veggies!" Whenever I have a maintenance week I shoot for keeping my carbs below 75 or so a day and I automatically lose some pounds.
So focus on the big picture and know that your average weekly loss is right on track- if you're average weekly loss ever falls below a pound- (and you're not less than 10 pounds from goal) then focus on adding longer workouts/eating more protein and veggies/ and measuring to make sure that lean muscle hasn't already replaced that bulky fat! :) I've been sticking to this since April 1st- and I've probably had 5 maintenance weeks in that timeframe- usually always preceded by a 3 pound loss or more. But the closer you get to goal the slower the weight may come off. Keep up the GREAT WORK- we're all right there with ya!!!

Ok,
Its after lunch and I had a great Chicken Ceasar Salad, no dressing but with added sunflower seeds. I have had a huge compliment, someone stopping me in the hall and saying how I really look great and that the loss really shows. How do people seem to know when you really need to hear that. I also went out to lunch and bought myself 3 slim fit tees from Aeropostale. You know the kind that the teeny bopper girls wear! Well at least my DD and her friends do. I needed some t-shirts to go with my shorts for my trip this weekend and I threw away all my x-large baggy t-shirts. I wanted some nice fitting youthful looking t-shirts.

I feel so much better this afternoon, and I am going to be happy no matter what the scale says tonight. I started exercising last week and I feel so good with how I look. Imagine how I will feel when I get to goal. Thanks for all the encouragement!

Thanks for letting me have my down and discouraged moment. I feel much better!

Melanie we are in the same boat. If it where'nt for my pm buddy Tara i don't know what i'd do. She needs an award just for putting up with my whining. Especially lately. I have not lost anything last week. But i'm changing a few things up this week and she talked me into staying with my exercise program. I just started back last week and was ready to stop for weight loss. But then i realize the whole reason i started back was to firm and tone so if this is a wall i want to look the best i can at the weight i'm out and like all things giving a little time this plateau will soon pass as well. I hope your feeling better and i sure hope you stick with your plan you've been doing such a wonderful job at it. I just know your scale will whoosh soon. Here's senting the whoosh fairy your way!!!!!

Okay, I won't say anything about how often you weigh yourself ;)

I am going to suggest that you try to not obsess over a number on a scale. The bloat fairy is always visiting and causing unscheduled gains. Frustrating? Yes. A true gain? NO!

Measure yourself (I really am a nag about that, sorry). Concentrate on getting smaller and forget about the getting lighter part. Your goal is to get smaller the lower weight will follow soon enough.

Don't let a scale get you so frustrated, okay? Hang in there, sweetie, you're really doing a great job with this.

Melanie-

Good for you getting rid of the "big and baggy stuff" You will be so styling when you visit. So do Vegas hometowners go to the strip? If you do, wear those new, fitting the "less of you" shirts and strut your stuff and if the strip isn't part of the agenda - let Mom see them - you know there just isn't too much more than a "proud" mom and she has one great daughter to be so proud of!

Have a great time and I really do hope that the scale number can take a "back-seat" as you realize just how healthy you have become :D

Sending PD for some whoosing your way soon too!

Just be positive...I know it is hard, expecially around your TOM...I don't even get on the scale at that time...too depressing. I just keep eating right and exercising, and when all is said and done...there is a weight loss and I move on.

Keep doing what you are doing...the weight will keep coming off.

Congrats on your loss so far! Keep up the good work!

Sounds like things are going better for you! The only way you are going to succeed is by focusing on what you have accomplished, not just numbers on the scale, you have made a life change--for the better!! Keep up the great work and you will CONTINUE to succeed!!:p

Thanks for letting me whine yesterday. I think us women do that alot with all our hormones. I guess we work so hard at this, you just want to always see positive results. After lunch yesterday, I really felt so much better. Maybe I was just hungry, and it caused my mood to go down.

Thanks for everyone's positive words! You are all such great support. Where else can we get support like this!

I did manage to loose .2 yesterday. Very funny because I said if I even lost that I would be happy. Well I am very happy, because it's going in the right direction. I really have nothing to complain about, because the scales have been wonderful to me this time around.

Thanks everyone!

Melanie
