Feel like the Discount Fairy Skipped me!

I think there might be another way to look at this. AAA offers a discount that you can usually book early. You can plan for it. The nice thing about AAA room only for us is the cancellation dates are such that it allows us not to purchase insurance. (About 130.00) 45 days out, we still might have to cancel (certainly hope not, but sometimes DH's job...) but with AAA at 6 or 7 days out, we know for sure. I priced our vacation/tickets, and it was about the same as what I already had with AAA and UnderCover Tourist tickets. The best part for me is I avoided a package, but still got a good rate. (Between the room rate and the tickets, we saved about 440.00.) That's not including the savings by avoiding insurance...

I haven't been able to get any discounts either (since February I've been trying) and today was no different. We are at the WL, standard rooms. The only offer I have gotten was a couple months ago for a AAA rate, that was $300 more to upgrade. I'm happy with a standard and trying to get the price down not up.

Was hoping for a discount at either AKL or WL for one night (prior to week at AKV), but there weren't any...

I got so excited at one point when the CM told me there was a discount at the Poly until she clarified things and told me it was for the Ambassador room (:confused3 never stayed there, don't know what that is) for over $1000!!!!:scared1:

In fact, I couldn't even book a rack rate room for Joe Schmo at the Contemporary, Poly, AKL, BWI!

Ended up getting a BCV studio for $230 w/tax. It will have to do unless something better (aka cheaper) comes along!!!!:wizard:

I am not staying in deluxe but at CSR and the discount fairy totally skipped me. My only option is to move from CSR to either CBR or POR to save $392. I can't convince myself to do that. I haven't even been to disneyworld but I was talked into CSR.

Debbie

For every 100 CSR lovers, you'll find 100 CBR lovers. If you haven't been to neither one, save your money now and try CBR.

I haven't been to neither (only ASMu, BC and YC). Wanted to go to CSR, however, convinced myself that the savings were there to justify CBR.

Codes come out on property that has high availability. This means CSR is booked solid. Also, many have skipped CBR due to the pool closing which will reopen in sept.

My .02...

 Let me tell you how frustrated I am at the discount fariy's perfromance. Our dates are 9/26-10/4.

First you have free dining offer good for check in until 9/20 for up to 14 days (10/4). This would have saved us +$700, but since we check in 6 days later it not applicable for us, despite the fact there will be folks on with free ddp while we are at wdw. Why not allow check it later than 9/26 but cap length of stay to 14 days and/or not to extend beyond 10/4.:headache:

So then there were the GP and DV codes that came out in late july good for stays through 9/28. At least they were room only and I was able to take advantage on one of these codes (DDH) to discount the first 2 nights of my stay. Savings $95 total on a ASMu-FS.

Now here come the new GP code this morning good starting 9/28. A 8 night stay looks to be saving around $450. Sure there was avaliability at the resort and in the room class, but I miss check in by 2 days. Any split reservations would, well, off set the cost savings of the code.

I guess it pays to check in on Sunday. I'm so frustrated

Did you call? Because you should be able to apply the code to the qualifying dates. I have three nights, in the middle of my trip, that are blacked out. But the CM applied the discount to the dates beginning and ending my trip on which the discount DID apply.

Add me to the disappointed...I persuaded my dh to add days at the end of our cruise but we don't need tickets and there is any code for that...any luck one might come out before October? Does any know how it worked last year? THANKS!

We are staying at the Polynesian October 18-24 and I tried 3 different codes and none of them worked. The only code that worked for me was "SOL". ;)

Hey, that's the same code I got!!!:lmao: :lmao: Anybody get a villa discount? I was told there were none.:confused3 But you never know....everyone gets different answers! We're in a 2br villa @ OKW.

I was SO excited to see that there was a code, only to see the dates. We are going Dec 5-14th which is the one FULL week where there is no code. Boy, we sure know how to pick a week!:confused3

We're in a 2 bedroom villa at OKW too and I was told it's only good for studios...no luck for us. We're paying so much at this point (there are 7 of us so). I really was hoping for some type of break! Oh well, maybe the PIN fairy will visit our house!

I was offered an AP rate for water view YC CL for 9 nights but you had to take dining. Over $7,000. Too much for DH and me. No AP rate available at either the CR or AKL or any other deluxe except the YC CL offer. We got AAA rate for our 5 nights at CR but are paying rack rate for AKL. No fairy dust here.

I had dining but after talking to another Guest Services last night she look more closer to my ressie & some nights were included in the time frame some were not. This what throw me with the other CM but it is clear now.:) To get club she said I would have to change my dates which I can't since I brought my air when it was cheaper than it is now. So I am happy with what I have.:cloud9:

This trip is for two room at Yacht Club Club level lagoon view for 6 nights with DDP. One room for DH & myself & DS & DIL. This is a gift to them for their 5th wedding anniversary & my birthday. Might be the last trip down to Disney for a few years as next year 2009 will be DH & mine 40th wedding anniversary & we want to go to Hawaii & to Milan Italy to trace my grandparents birthplace.

We are staying 12/4 to 12/15 and no discounts for us either. I feel your pain.

:rotfl::rotfl: Same code I got for AKL Oct 21-27. Saved me $0.00 and now I can upgrade to the warm bucket of spit.

Yeah, I hear that warm bucket of spit is great! Make sure to get the refillable bucket so you can get free refills for your entire trip! ;)

Yep that's the code that I'm able to use too! It's the only code available for second week in December!! Yay - thank you Disney!

So true! We booked early and have 2N Tower MK view at CR and the remaining 6N of our stay at ASMo all w/ AAA discount. I was realy hoping for the room only code to get 30% (or more) off. Would have even changed to the pkg deal w/ tickets and ins. if the disc was right. But sadly the room only disc in Nov/Dec matches the AAA disc. no reason to rebook! And the MYW pkg codes would have us move from the Tower to the Wing. And while we might ret'n some day and stay very happily in the wing....this trip is all about the tower and the view. So.....no extra discounts. I'm glad I booked early w/ AAA and secured my tickets b4 the price increase w/ an added bonus of 7 days for the price of 4. Overall I saved $329 vs. rack rates. I should be happy.:rolleyes1 Did I mention how much more I had to pay for airfare vs. what I secured for a 2008 Feb school vaca'n trip we had to cancel? Family of 4 went from $800rnd to $1200. Of course that cost has now gone up to $1500 so again...I should be happy.

:rotfl2: Leave it to a fellow Hoosier to make me laugh!

We're at the Poly Oct 9-13 and I tried the three codes plus AP code, called five times throughout the day, no luck whatsoever. :sad1:

Well, it's official, I can't apply any code but SOL to my BC stay. Of course I CAN upgrade to the water view and pay them even more money ;) I think the discounts lately have become a joke! It figures I finally get another card after 5 years and it's unusable to me!

I called this morning and used the codes that were released today. We already had a reservation at the CR with a tower, theme-park room view. Our package was discounted $696.36. We are staying Dec. 18-22nd. So yes, there are discounts available for the monorail resorts. We ended up upgrading to deluxe dining instead of just the regular dining. With the deluxe dining, it was still cheaper than the price we were given on our package with the basic dining plan.

I have the same ressies and was told nothing applied to the Contemporary(Oct 25-Nov 2) what gives?
