Do you all pay out of pocket for your toddlers to eat, the ones who aren't old enough for the ddp. Or do you find that there is enough food w/o doing so. I have not seen the size of the meals. But I am hoping between 3 adult meals and a kids meal there should be.

How big are the kids meals? Is it realistic to think that he and my dd could share one?

TIA

We did not buy much at all for our DS who was 2 last fall when we went... I think a PB&J at the resort one day and a sandwich at Earl one evening. Other than that we had plenty of food for him from our plates. And, remember at buffets kids under three can eat for free.:thumbsup2

We also found there to be plenty of food. Our DD was 15 months last year and outside of mickeybars, she ate off of our plates!!
and like the pp said at the buffets the kids under 3 eat for free!!
Have fun!!!

I never bought any extra food for my DD2 in any of the three times she's been to WDW, and she LOVES food. She just eats off of everyone else's plate, the portions are typically huge! And of course under 3 are free at buffets, so it's not an issue. I think one time I did order her an extra fruit and veggie plate at Sci-Fi and she didn't even touch it because she ate so much of her sister's and my food.

I think we bought 2 kids meals. 1 at Spoodles and 1 at LeCellier. And both of those were because DH, DS and myself wanted steak and DD won't eat steak. All the rest were more than enough to share with her.

I bought CS meals for DD. She loved the mac and cheese one, and the PB&J meals. At TS, sometimes she ate off my plate, sometimes I paid for her a kids meal. At Japan for instance, I ordered her a side of noodles, they gave her some rice and I gave her some of my chicken.

I think the counter service meals are similar in size to typical fast food meals...the burger meal similar to a McD's quarter pounder meal, for example. The kids meals might be a little bit bigger than fast food, but not much.
What others have posted isn't true for us - I think it depends how much your kids eat. My DS (21mos last trip) is a big eater, so we would not have had enough food with 2 CS meals for the 3 of us. He likes vegetables, so we usually brought a pop-top small can of vegetables and then he ate half of my sandwich and finished up with crackers or fruit. Or we bought him a kids' meal of his own. I figure this next trip, I'll eat the kids meal and he'll eat the adult meal - LOL!
Table service portions are larger, I think, and (as others have mentioned) buffets are free!

When we were at WDW last year our DD was 14/15 months and we typically bought her a meal (even though muchof it went wasted) so that DH and I could order what ever we wanted without regard to if DD would eat it or not - which allowed us to try more adult/interesting dishes.

This trip, DD will be 26 months and I think I will share with her most of the time since I am pregnant and can barely eat anything!!! She would probably pick a more adventurous diet than me this time!!! :-)

DD9 was 2 long before the DDP, but even then, we never spent a penny on her food--except one Mickey bar, I think. There was always plenty to share and the buffets were perfect.

Sometimes I buy Julie her own meal, but usually we share. We've even shared a child's portion on more than one occasion and both been good, but I don't eat much at all.

When booking our dinners for our upcoming trips, the CMs kept reminding me that Julie could share off my plate, and I know we'll be fine. She eats more than I do, so she'll go to town at 1900 Park Fare I'm sure.

I would say there would be plenty of food unless everyone in your party is a big eater. We went back and forth depending on the day. Sometimes our DS (2 1/2 at the time) ate off our plate and other times I got him his own meal, especially if we were ordering things he wouldn't like. He isn't too picky but there was a time or 2 that we wanted to be adventurous.
We also weren't on the dining plan during that trip so we were paying everything out of pocket and were keeping costs down.

this trip we have the dining plan and one DD is 4 and one 2....I am not planning on buying an extra meal for the little one, but I am bringing an extra Mickey plate (that the kids meals are usually served in) ---see, DD thinks she should have everything her dear older sister has....and to prevent any fighting I am hoping this will work.

OUr DS turned 2 on our trip in Jan 06 and I think we only got his own CS one time. And that was in Epcot WS where the kids meal was an uncrustable PB&J that would be hard to share and DH and I were not eating at that time. We found that the TS were plenty to share! They even brought DS his own drink at no charge even when we offered to pay. I think you should be fine- we all had more than enough to eat!

For counter service we do buy OOP kids meals. Simply so that she can have exactly what she wants to eat. Now that DS is old enough to share with her too, we will not have too much wasted food :)
