Dh is getting orange bowl tickets as a Christmas surprise. My kid brother (16) is getting the same surprise from mom and dad, going with us, and taking a friend. By some miracle, we got a 1bedroom at BCV for our first 2 nights, and at SSR for the last 4, driving down to Miami on game day.

Now I am worried about how to feed these boys. DH and I usually eat nice meals, once a day, and a light lunch. These boys eat like 5 meals a day, and they eat alot. It would be a small mortgage to feed these guys the way DH and I eat for a week, and I don't think they want to hang with us alot anyway. Should I get them meal vouchers and stock the DVC kitchen with frozen pizzas, cereal, granola bars, etc.? Or should I skip the vouchers and just give them so much $ for meals per day? Any suggestions on places to eat with them? We do want to treat them to at least one "nice" meal.

My goal is to spend less money feeding them than I spent on their plane tickets and park passes ;)

definitely buy some groceries - teenagers get hungry at odd times - then I would give them some money.

I would hope that the friend would be sent with some money for those extra snacks.

We have a 12 year old and a 16 year old boy and I know your situation all too well. I agree with SC and encourage you to get in lots of groceries. Don't give them cash or it might end up in a video game at one of the arcades.

Good luck on your goal. I have found Southwest to be one of the least expensive parts of our trip. At least you are prepared for the worst.

Thanks for the sympathy, HBC! I am trying to put together a grocery list now. Any reccomendations on which comapnies delivery groceries to the room? I don't mind the guys buying lunch and dinner, but I expect them to eat breakfast and their 2 "extra" meals a day in the room.

I ordered them a few q&c each, disney quest tics (they already had hoppers but no pluses), and 3 VKL for a meal for all four of us at RFC. I'll just pay for my entree, but those guys will want surf & turf, and I know vouchers are the cheapest way to do that. Hopefully they won't starve ;) If I get desperate I can always take them to an all-you-can-eat buffet offsite!

We used Wegoshop.com on our trip a few weeks ago and they were great. They delivered right to our room at an agreed upon time and even called us from the store when the brand we had requested wasn't available.

Good luck and have fun.

It would be good for them to use the Q&C vouchers at Beaches and Cream at BCV. They could get the double meat hamburger, fries, drink and their own large dessert.

is at Fort Wilderness Trail's End buffet. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner - all at the most reasonable price I've seen on property.
We had breakfast there in August - the food was great! Lots of food for my 18 year old....he can certainly pack away an amazing amount of food.
You can't make ps's there, so I don't know what the wait time for a table might be. We didn't have any problem getting a breakfast table.
I believe you can also get "buffet to go." They give you a container and you fill it up...off you go.
Hope that helps!! I know the all you can eat places have saved me with my hungry teenager - yes, indeed. :D

After coming back from SSR in October, they had family meals for 25.00 that were huge!! Our family of 7 had plenty and there were leftovers for lunch the next day! They change the menu daily and have a different family meal each day. The meal we had was turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, awesome green beans, and corn bread, it was the best meal we had at WDW!!! Hope this helps!

Thanks so much for the ideas!

simplaw, we're at BCV the first couple nights, so B&C would be perfect!

Ksp, we've never tried the buffeteria before, but sounds like we might have to this trip. Dh and I do like riding bikes around FW, but I don't eat that much, so when its just us, we don't usually do buffets, we usually do the share-an-entree and order an appetizer plan.

Tnkbell, I didn't know that SSR did family meals. Do other DVCs do this? The meal you described sounds wonderful, and defenitely worth the price! I'll make sure to ask about this when we check in to SSR.

HBC, I'll have to give wegoshop a try, but there website was down last time I looked for the order forms.

Thanks again!

As far as I know SSR is the only DVC resort to serve family meals that can also be carried out. By far this is the best deal on WDW property! I don't know since the resort is new if this is experimental marketing or what but I hope it's still there the next time we go!!! Good Luck!

Happy Holidays Tarralee,

We have 3 teenage boys (19,17 & 13). Snacks and breakfast food in the room are a must. buffets are a great value, Bomas, Whispering Cannon Cafe and the Liberty Tree are some of the least expensive (for disney), nice, dinners (18.00each). Earl of Sandwich, great sandwiches, good price, also ESPN Zone and we always have pizza delivered at least one nite (pizza hut or call the front desk for a number)
Have a great Time

Thanks DeeDeeDis for the tips. I'm hoping we'll be able to add the new MYW dining option to our DVC reservations, but if we can't, I think its going to be alot of buffet/all-you-can-eat meals, and a stocked kitchen in our villa ;)

We ate at Hollywood and Vine at MGM for the first time this trip. It was a buffet and DH ate a bunch and thought it was good. Sorry I don't remember how much it was. We have three children who don't eat much, so they usually make $$$ on us at the buffet - but DH eats a ton. We also did Liberty Tree Tavern Character meal and it was all you could eat - brought to the table. It was Ham, Turkey, and Flank Steak - plus the trimmings. It was a good meal too! It also seems like someone here mentioned a place either in the swan or dolphin that was similar to B&C - that cost less. I also think maybe you get a DVC discount there.
