Hog Nose???? Now you have me laughing so hard my sides are hurting. Is it really hog nose? How do you prepare that?

I believe I'd get a second job before I'd eat a hog's nose. But, hey, that's just me. I have a hard time eating chicken legs.

I have a question and I am not trying to be snarky but I am very curious.

You say you all have snack for xxx amount of money. Now my kids have differnt tastes and likes, and I cannot imagine not offering a choice of snack. Do your kids all have the same snacks everyday? Also notice that the adults are included in snack $, so you eat the same snack as your child? I just do not think I could pull this off. :confused3

The reason that sometimes my family eats the same snack one day is that I buy whatever is on sale. And I buy a lot of it :) If the Pepperidge Farms outlet has a good deal on goldfish (like 50c per bag) then I'll buy 8 or 10. If pretzels are on sale at the store, then I'll buy pretzels. I'll buy 4 boxes of frozen Minute Maid lemonade on sale with coupons.

My rule is we can have two open packages at the same time during the summer, otherwise snacks will go stale! I don't bake cookies in the summer because it's just too hot.

And I now can't buy things I used to because of dd12's allergies (diagnosed this March, soy, peanut etc)---it's not fair to her if we were to eat something she can't anymore.

That's how we do it. Everyone, including mom gets the same snack. We've never done it any other way.

I look at the sales and then make a list for them of what snacks we'll have available. We almost always have baby carrots to snack on. This week we'll also have white grapes, tortilla chips (Kroger has a med. sized store brand bag for $1.29. We tried them last week and really like them) and salsa, vanilla wafers, red delicious apples, and potato chips. Oh, and I think I'm going to get some ice cream, too.

Yes, we do eat the same snacks as our children.

So your kids have a choice as to which snack they feel like for the day? Now I get it.

Yep. It's all available, so they can choose any of those snacks on any day (if we have any left). We don't have to worry about things going stale here. :)

BTW I don't count fruits and veggies as "snacks"----they may eat fruit/veggies at a non-meal time but to us, "snack" food means popcorn, pretzels, goldfish, a frozen treat, an adult beverage ;) etc

We eat locally and seasonally so no apples yet for us. They'll be coming in about a month---the orchard is just down the road :) Today we're going for a bushel of peaches and to check on the availability of pick-your-own blackberries!

:scared1: Hog nose? 4 free hog noses?

Just reading for ideas, and stumped on this one!

SORRY ONES Its Wild Hog meat he went hunting for FREE and then cause it was his first kill the guys paid for the meat to be processed . I being pregnant can NOT have it . So he cooked those and I cooked 2 regular pork chops for me and the girls . My Ds likes the Hog chops (as my dh calls them ) So he ate those and we ate the regular ones .

Sarah

Yep the only fruit we had was the bannana's yesterday . Sunday is my day NOT to cook dh dose all the cooking and sorry but veggies do not go with mac and cheese and pork and beans . The kids usually sleep threw snack and usually so do me and Dh . Breadfest is fast run out the door to church and lunch on Sundays is usually left overs . Oh and they did have yogurt as well .

LOL Well that is what you said. :)

You still had that lentil soup left over you gotta give me the recipe if it lasted 3 meals.

Lentil Soup is very easy and very filling here is how I make it and yes my kids eat it up and so dose Dh they actrully like it better then a meat filled dinner .

1 bag of dried lentil soup
either 3 cans of chicken brooth or 3 cubes and then I fill up the crock pot half way with water . If I use the cans I put an extra can of water in the mix . I generally do not use the cans cause of the cost .
Then I cut up a half of an onion , carrotts , cerlery sometimes patatos (these I cut very small ) I add itilian seasonings and 2 spoonfulls of minced garlic or two gloves of fresh garlic . And I cook for about 6 hours the last 1-2 hours I throw in two packages of frozen spinish (in a block not a bag ) and 1/2 cup of parm cheese .

I serve it over Shell noodles and more cheese on top with garlic bread or rolls or bread and butter .

Like I said everyone loves it . My one DD who was not eating it did finally start eating it after I got off the computer . She was just tired .

BTW it feed us dinner (and everyone had WAY more then they should ) lunch the next day and then just me for lunch the following day . I general get a Dinner , lunch and 2 smal frozen lunch portions out of it .
