Fee for handicapped parking at Grand Californian Hotel?

Our first trip to Disneyland the end of April this year. At DisneyWorld you can valet park for free with your handicap tag. I hear valet parking is $17 and wonder if that applies for handicapped parking too?

Handicap parking is free SELF parking, right across from the lobby doors (whereas the regular free self park for GCH guests is actually across the street from the hotel). There are not many handicap spaces there, however. If those spaces are all full, they will valet park you for free with your handicap placard.

I see this is old but I have the same question. I will be staying at the Grand Californian next week and am considering rentinga car from LAX as it is much easier for me than getting into and riding a bus to the resort. But how much does parking for handicap guests cost at the Grand Californian? It is free for me to park valet at the hotels at WDW but I'm not sure if that is the same at DL. Self parking is free at WDW hotels and that isn't the case for DL.

Yes, I know there are parking charges in general but I'm asking specifically about handicap parking charges. At WDW the valet parking is free for me.

They're allowed to charge full price for parking, even if someone displays a handicap placard. I'd assume it will be full price, since they're not required to give any discount.

I believe the difference is likely that at WDW if you are a resort hotel guest then self parking is free- as such if you have a handicap placard, they will go ahead and valet park you for free. DLR does not provide their resort hotel guests with free parking. It is an additional $17 a day on top of the resort rooms that are typically higher priced than the rooms at WDW. We alternate between DLR and WDW, and this is something that always annoys me at DLR! As such, I would expect that you would at the least still have to pay the $18 parking fee. Now, I don't know if maybe if you have a handicap placard and the handicap places are full whether they might valet park you for the $18 fee as opposed to the full valet fee-- I could see them doing that.

Yep just raised from $25! Self parking is across the street by PPH so you may want to pull up, get your stuff out, then go park!

Yep...just hubby and I this trip, so one big suitcase for us both. I'll jump out with it and start checking in while he goes and parks.

I do have DVC membership but I'm not staying on DVC points for this trip. I guess that means I pay for parking. Are the handicap self parking spots close to the entrance or are they across the street in the same lot as the regular spaces for self parking? At GCH I mean.

You must be staying on points to receive the DVC free parking benefit.

I can confirm this as of May 2015. But watch your bill! We were double charged each day for both valet and self-park and it took a ridiculous amount of effort to get it straightened out. The day we arrived Handicapped Parking was full so we went valet. You really don't want to end up in non-handicapped self-parking as a disabled person because it is a LONG walk back. At the end GCH did straighten it all out and charged us the self parking price for valet parking -after they decided we weren't lying about handicap parking being full when we arrived earlier in the week (for goodness sake it was Memorial Day). I had forgotten how frustrating that was, better luck to you!

I just ran across this and valet is now $70 per night. Makes the $28 per night in the decade old posts above look pretty darn inexpensive.

my initial point was that $28 seemed cheap compared to similar resorts run by Disney, and it was, because it was 10 years ago and now apparently it's $70.

DW is attending a conference in SF and the hotel is $90 a night for parking so in that sense, Disney is following the industry I guess. Demand is very elastic on base rate of rooms so hotels have to make money at the edges with other charges.
