You can still register your Amex to get a $25 statement credit if you buy local. I sign up both of our cards. I am so exited we get our dog food from a small local place between the 2 of us we are basically getting 1 free bag of dog food this month!

That's EXACTLY what I got about 20 minutes ago or so, so yay!!! Guess it's really on its way!

At least our work was somewhat productive. I feel bad for the thousands of people that tried and had no luck! That whole process was screwy and mind boggling. I hope to never go through that again.

Today's FedEx giveaway was for AmEx gift cards. If you look at the FAQ's on the FedEx Facebook page for the giveaway, it clearly says AmEx Gift Cards.

The "Small Business Saturday" promotion is separate. It requires an Amex card since it is a $25 statement credit for purchases of $25 or more, made at small businesses on 11/26/2011. https://sync.americanexpress.com/sbs2011

I had two places in mind for this offer, but one is closed for the entire Thanksgiving weekend and the other doesn't take American Express.

I think I might register anyway and worry about where to buy later, just in case they shut down the promotion. (Hmmm...just checked the list. There's a pizzeria, speciality food store and local hardware store that are eligible, so it should be fine.)

Thank you, I got the gift card as well, and the email confirmation. You certainly had to be patient, and it was all over the free sample sites, too. I get a lot of free samples through these sites. Almost everyday is like getting a surprise in the mail. My favorite freebies are the shampoo, deodorant, coffee, and k-cups. And VS--they send a coupon for about one pair of undies every month; I haven't bought them in years. That said, this might be the best giveaway yet.

I believe that it is a regular AmEx gift card in the amount of $25. You have simply pledged to use it at a small business.

The other offer was for a $25 statement credit on your AmEx account. In order to get it, you must spend $25 or more at a small business on 11/26 and use the AmEx credit card that you signed up with.

It was a list that came up after I had registered, but it had the same businesses as their Facebook list.

The list is small businesses on facebook who have registered with Small Business Saturday. It is not a list of eligible small businesses. Many small businesses that are not included on the list are still eligible as long as they accept Amex. The terms and conditions state:

Eligible small business merchants are independently owned small businesses located in the United States that accept the American Express Card. Purchases made at large or national chain stores, at franchised business locations and at government agencies are not eligible. Prepaid, Corporate Cards and ExpressPay transactions are not eligible.

Thanks OP. I had gotten out of class and had to go to McDonalds for the free wifi. Then I was an hour late. Lucky for me the site wan't working then came up. I got the card and the email. The I was able to also sign up my Amex card for the $25 credit. I will have $50 on Sat to shop!

I just got an email from a local small business encouraging me to register my Amex card so I could get a $25 credit to my account by shopping at their store on 11/26.

Guess I can use a gc that day!
