We just got off of the Dream last week and the weather couldn't have been any nicer! Sunny and low 80s. We were thinking of trying the Magic in 2017 but the cruise that fits our schedule and to celebrate my son's birthday, would be February 8, out of Miami. How is the weather in the winter? I know it can vary each year, but my kids spent most of the cruise in the pools and never got out of the water at Castaway. I'm nervous about it being too cold since we were spoiled by the weather on this past cruise!
Just wondering about anyone else's experiences. Thanks!
Melissa

We have cruised in Feb. 3 times (soon to be 4th) and have had good luck with the weather. We were able to use the pools and swim at Castaway each time. I know there can be rain and wind but we haven't experienced it yet. We enjoyed it and weren't too hot! '

We have also cruised three times in February, soon to be 4. Two of the trips had perfect stunning weather and we swam every day. Last year - not so much. We couldn't dock at CC which was a huge disappointment. I thought that only happened in Urban Legends. Instead we went to Nassau and it was so cold and windy, not many people got off the boat. We did have great weather in Cozumel and one day at sea that was really cold and cloudy. However, it did allow us the chance to do everything onboard that we wanted. Hoping for great weather this year!

Thank you for your responses! The kids want to try the Magic but I'm leery about the weather. I know it can be hit or miss no matter when we go. Knowing that you both are still gong to book another cruise for February makes me feel better. I guess being spoiled with hot sunny 80 degree days for our entire cruise and WDW vacation last week makes it tough to try something else but we'll never know if we don't try it. And like you said, NYCMommy, it would give us a chance to do other things on the boat that we didn't try because we spent most of the days at the pool on this past cruise.

We went the first weekend in February last year and it was great weather. I am very cold natured and didn't get in the water past my knees at cc, though many others did. Of course even in May I often times don't go in at cc because I am so cold natured. What we did to there, that was fun and didn't require getting in the water, was the nature hike and kayaking excursion. I did get in the pool on the boat, and of course there are the hot tubs!

Ladypiph, thank you for the link to the Navigators. There's a range of temps but glad all weren't cold.
Griffindesign, I'm cold natured too. I'd prefer to be in hot tubs! My kids don't take after me so I guess that's good! I'm happy to lie on the beach at CC if the water is chilly.
Well, we decided to book the February cruise!! It will be interesting going from the Dream to a classic ship (Magic)!

Honestly - we did SO much more on the boat that we had no had a chance to do the previous two cruises, so it was sort of a blessing in disguise? Lots of movies, classes, shows, Bingo, kid club time.

So far - the Magic has been my favorite! We did the Dream, then the Magic, then the Wonder and this year the Fantasy to complete the Grand Slam. Curious how the Fantasy will stack up. I just love the smaller ships - everything seems just a little less crowded.

Wow! All 4 ships! Hope you enjoy your cruise on the Fantasy! You are not the first to tell me that the Magic was their favorite. My kids loved the Dream's Oceaneers Club and Lab (we went post refurb so it had the Star Wars area)so I'm hoping they enjoy the one on the Magic as much.
And I agree that there's so much we didn't do inside the ship because we were at the pool all day. Now that I know my kids loved the club, I will book some "me" time on this one! I'm getting more excited!!! Thank you :)

The Dream was our very first cruise and while we loved it - we felt there was so much we didn't know, or didn't do right or missed out on. The Magic had just gotten out of dry dock and we had stunning perfect weather so it was all around great. I liked the smallness of the Wonder but it needed a few more bells and whistles. Really hoping on this one that we can use all of our knowledge and have the best time! Both my kids can go to Edge or kids club so hoping they enjoy it!!

We have always cruised in Feb as it ties in with the UK school holidays, that's 4 cruises so far and 2 more years booked! No complaints about the weather yet. We did miss CC one year as we couldn't dock but had a great day with the captain finding some great weather for us at sea.

That timeframe in 2012, my cousins were on Dream. It was cold in Florida and it was cold on Castaway. Now, my cousin was raised most of her life in FL and so have her kids, but her hubby is from PA, and even he was having an unpleasant time on shore.

But they convinced us to cruise with them the following year. We were in FL while they were cruising and went out to see them when they got home after disembarkation, and as we all sat bundled up in their house from the cold, we made the plans.

And that timeframe in 2013 was perfectly pleasant and lovely.

Honestly, the water FELT warmer to us in Feb than it did to us the next October. Oct was HOT, and the ocean doesn't really change *that* much, and so the water felt colder in Oct than it did in Feb. :)

We've had two further cruises in January (2014 and 2015), and both have been very nice, weather-wise.

I'm sorry you missed CC. That's the one day that is really important to my kids. It seems as though a lot of you are repeat Feb cruisers so I am happy to hear that!

Thank you bumbershoot. That's interesting that you felt the water was warmer in Feb. It actually took me a bit to get used to the water last week (so mid - Nov) despite it being mid 80s outside. Luckily my kids don't freeze like I do when temps dip below 60! :) I just want to make sure THEY have a good time. I am perfectly happy bundled on CC looking at the beautiful scenery, where as they wouldn't be. I can't control the weather but I will think that I will not be freezing in CT at that time but on vacation on the Magic. A cold cruise is better than no cruise IMO!! Now you all have me really excited for this cruise despite my new countdown saying 446 days :(
