February 21st ~ WONDERful 4 Night Bahamas from Miami

I lived in Florida after college for three years in Coca Beach....could see the ocean from my bed!! We'll go back one day when we are done being a northener!! You Will def want to

Opps....you def want to go back to Key West! One day is not enough....it's one of our favorite places!!

I am willing to start a list for the FE....message me your cabin #, family members name & ages, & an email address.

My boyfriend and myself will be joining you on this cruise. This will be his first cruise ever. My first cruise was on The Fantasy in May with my daughter (it was her college graduation present). I had such a magical time on The Fantasy!
In Disney fashion, I'm sure the same will be on The Wonder!
I actually can't believe I am cruising this soon - I am excited about this already!

My question - Can I stay at WDW the day before the cruise and use the Disney Cruise Line Transportation to Miami on the day of the cruise????

Welcome!:goodvibes Our little group is growing? Not sure about transportation to Miami, but I don't believe it goes to Miami.. We're having a rough time finding how to park and cruise at a decent rate in Miami...:scared1:

Welcome! Disney does not provide transfers from WDW to the Port of Miami. As of now, they only provide transfers from MIA to the Port. It's about a 3.5 - 4 hr drive from WDW to POM.

From what I have found our so far....We will be flying into Ft. Lauderdale the day before. There is a shuttle (SAS Shuttle) for $20(?) pp that takes you to Miami hotels.
I just wonder how I would get to the port the next day. I'm still looking for hotels in the Port of Miami area that offers shuttle service to the ship.
(My TA did tell me , if we flew in the day of the cruise, and there was enough interest, DCL transportation might be provided from Ft Lauderdale. But....Indiana in Feb???? I'm not going to take any chances with snow and ice.)

So exited to have more people! I was started to wonder if there was another thread for a meet up that we don't know about! I'm starting a list for anyone interested in joining the FE! Just message me your name, email address, number of people & ages! So far I'm the only one on the list!

Hey guys! Summer sure went by fast! Just wondering what everyone's up? This message has been quiet! Someone suggested we make a Facebook group for for the FE then we have an attachment with all our info that everyone can have access to. I'm wondering what everyone is thinking about the FE & if there's any interest.

I agree, this board is VERY slow... :confused3 and it's just 5 months to our cruise. I've even been debating about canceling the cruise. Very up in the air about it... Frustrated with the lack of affordable park and cruise hotels, it's a longer drive than Port Canaveral, and then taking our DD13 out of school for 5 days... and yes I knew it was a longer drive, and I knew I had to take Jenna out of school, but I hadn't even thought about the hotel and parking in Miami, because Port Canaveral was a dream!

But it's just me being wishy washy, I know I'm not cancelling, jenna wouldn't allow it:rotfl2:.

summer went wayyyyy to quick, don't know where it went, Back to the school grind, which I detest. Mornings are horrid:offtopic:

But I'm agreeable to anything, Facebook, disboards.. whichever brings the people... It's soo much nicer to know you "know " the people on the boat...;)

My wife Amy and I are in the planning stages for this cruise. Started yesterday afternoon and by last night convinced her to buy in on it :cheer2:

She was hesitant to buy into a cruise as on the last (and first one) we went on this past April the weather was so bad that the ship cancelled Key West and nearly didn't get into Nassau. So we had two days at sea and she was dizzy from sea sickness part of the time. We hope that with a "no days at sea" she won't suffer as bad. Walking on land helps her.

AS for the FE, Amy and I are all in! Loved it on the first cruise. Once we get our tickets we'll post our info.

Anyone know if there will be a semi-formal night on the 4-days? There was on the 5-day.

We are looking forward to seeing Key West as we missed it last time. Also Nassau as we did the Atlantis Ultimate Trainer thing last time and it took all day so we didn't have time for shopping. I definitely want to get a rum cake or two as well as a bottle of rum for my collection. I have rum from Haiti, Puerto Rico, and Guam. We plan to spend a short time on Castaway Cay but outside of a walk, lunch and pics it really isn't our thing. We will probably take advantage of the empty ship. I know we have it backwards to most people who stay on the ship in Nassau and camp out on Castaway but we are shoppers.

Welcome Jim & Amy!! :welcome:

Thanks.

Going through the thread in more detail and it looks like you need a connection to Upstate NY to cruise. Well I'm from Detroit but Amy is from the North Country, does that count?

Right now the tentative plans are to fly into Miami the night before and stay at the airport hotel that night. Than next morning hop the Disney Shuttle to the ship. That is what we did with the Magic in April in Cape. Worked out well.

Also hope to have a couple hours extra after the cruise to take my niece to lunch as she just started FIU this month.

Recommendations for Key West from the vets? We were going to get a Trolley Tour pass and just hit all the stops but if some others can give recommendations we're up for it!

Also anyone traveling without kids like Amy and me? Last time we hooked up with another couple to share a table. Not that I hate kids but not as comfortable as most. Also makes it more enjoyable when your get to know your table mates before the cruise.

Jim

Love Key West.....we just spent a week there in Feb. Its one of my fav places! There's lots of shopping there! I also get sea sick & am worried about it. That is why we never cruised before. I thought this would be a cruise to get my feet wet since there's really no days @ sea (or there's not supposed to be!) I'm trying to decided if I should take meds or not! We have kids so you def won't to eat with us. Maybe I could find someone else to eat with them so my husband & I could eat alone.....jk!

Glad to see more people joining!:) welcome Jim and amy!

Never been to key west, It's always been my hubby's dream, so here we are!

As for meds, I'd say bring them, that's what we did for my first cruise last feb. I took them one night...

I don't remember there being any semi- formal night on our last 4 night cruise (and my first) when we went on the Dream in February....

would love some ideas about key west....'

I guess all us Northerners need to get away by the time February hits!:rotfl2:

We have our then 14 year old daughter with us, and believe me, noone wants to eat with us....:confused3, she'll talk your ear off!

While the sea was REALLY rough when we were on the ship, about 2-10 degree rolls. For a squid like me not bad but for a landlubber like Amy it was a bit bad. I will qualify it that the 10 degree was only when the captain was taking really hard turns wasting time since we couldn't get into Key West.

She is going to check on the patch when she goes to the doctor next month. The guys on the ship who wore the patch had nothing but good things to say about it. No real drowsiness.

And I don't hate kids, they're much better when you can give them back to their owners :D Seriously just a preference nothing more.

Jim

So did she take dramamine & it didn't work? I used it with good success but never on rough seas. I was wondering about the patch too but also heard that when you stop using it you feel sick at first.
