February 2024 Refurbs and Closures - Radiator Springs Racers begins Feb. 26 through March 1st. Reopens March 2!!

I wish Disney would do smaller refurbs more frequently. Like, every Wednesday, we know that pirates of the Caribbean is down, every Thursday, Matterhorn is down, etc. then we can plan accordingly.
That makes absolutely no sense. How would that work? They dismantle whatever is they need to fix and speed run to try and finish before having to reassemble the ride before rope drop next day?? Doesn't seem smart, cost effective or a productive use of time.

Say an animatronic isn't working... should be able to diagnose and fix in 1 day. If you need to disassemble an entire ride, that's different completely.

I think Disney just got screwed because Fantasmic, Splash and HM are all down

I think if we had those up then who cares about some rides going down but we have three huge attractions down and it affects the park

It kinda shows why Disney needs to be adding and not just replacing attractions because crowds are high all year round now...so same goes for DCA the next attraction should be something just added and no redoing something we already have

That's assuming they can even fix and diagnose in a day. In the real world, I would much rather they take a week in feb to fix something correctly than 10 thursdays.
As a family who goes once every 10 years, and the refubishment week or month falls during my vacation, and I can never see that ride or attraction, I would rather have 1 day off than a long time off.

I would have liked to be a fly on the wall at the meeting when they decided to take HM down. I've heard it was an ADA issue, I've heard it was this, I've heard it was that. But, I really would like to know the truth, because it did seem like the absolute worst timing ever.

I agree and have wondered the same thing. I think it's terrible timing to have Splash and HM down at the same time.

I have to imagine the thought process was to work on HM before the crowds arrive for the new Tiana's ride. I think they would rather get the HM queue fixed up to make more walking space to get to the new ride. There is ADA work, but they're also improving the queue area so it doesn't overflow through NOS and into the walkways as much, and they're adding a proper gift shop at the exit instead of the outside shop, which also backs up to the old entrance to Splash.

True, true. They had 3 years between the time Tiana's was announced until the time they closed Splash, though. That seems like plenty of time to plan and complete HM. Whatever the reason, it is just unfortunate to have that corner of the park decimated right now.

The Mark Twain riverboat which was scheduled to reopen tomorrow, Saturday, 2/10 will now reopen on Saturday, 2/24. The delay is due to the severe rainy weather of the last week.
