February 2021 W.I.S.H. - Being your own Fabulous Self

This morning we had a video call with DH's family. It was nice to be able to talk with them. Afterwards I did an hour and a half workout on the treadmill. DS's bike arrived today and we had to put it together. I proud myself on putting things together. I love building things. Something my mom and I used to do together when I was younger. I have put together 2 grills over the years. Probably the hardest things I have put together until today. I met my match with the bike. I dropped the metal piece that the seat attaches to into the bike frame and now it is stuck. I am not even sure I got the rest of the bike together correctly. We will be taking it to the bike tomorrow and let the pros handle it. Other then this I have been watching General Hospital all weekend. I am so far behind but I am catching up.

Hmmm... I don't see any of those characters painting their office, which is what I did today. I did a little more than the half-of-the-room that I had planned, and am now waiting for the last round of touch ups to dry so I can put curtains and art back up, which was my ultimate goal. It'll be next weekend before I get the other half done, because it's too much to move stuff around to paint then get it back in place for work. Love this color, so I am mighty happy.

My motivation this week is to keep on doing things the way I have been doing them. It's been a couple weeks now, and this is the point where I usually lose focus and drift off course, so "focus" is the word of the week.

I need to really sit down and think about home food and plan somethings out. Last week my ankles were puffy again and the only thing different that I was eating was having salads for lunch, so I'm wondering if it was something in the salad dressing? I didn't have any over the weekend and they are back to normal this morning so the timing is suspect, but that means I have to come up with something else for my lunches.

Some of them do have a lot of salt! (We have to watch that here because of DH's blood pressure.)

Monday motivation - spring is coming...with it's less bulky clothes. :beach:

My latest crusade is decluttering...again (kind of like Anne said, I repeatedly start and then lose interest in this project.)

Back in January we had to deiced for the rest of the year if we wanted this kids to stay virtual for the rest of the year or go face to face. We decided to keep them home because numbers were still high. We were fine with them staying home. They have been doing great. Well today we got an email out of the blue that gave us the option to send our kids back to in person for the 4th quarter. We are sending the. The numbers here are so low. They only had one in the district last week and we have a few thousand kids from K-12. Plus I will be full vaccinated and will back in the office sooner then later. There is a good chance that DH will at least have his first shot by then as well. I am a bit excited about this. I just made hair appointments for all of us. Well not DH we have been cutting his at home and that is going well. DS has to get it cut before he goes back. It is looking really ratty and getting pretty long. DD wants to dye her hair blonde and I am trying to talk her out of it because they will have to bleach it and it will ruin her hair. So now she is on a red/purple highlights. We are now looking at getting DS back into karate as well. This is all happening so fast. I am excited but nervous too. We have done nothing, gone nowhere and seen no one for so long now and that just makes me nervous. We have until April 12th. Oh and the kids need school clothes. PJ's and sweats are not going to cut it for going into school.

That sounds great! I bet they are excited to be going back.

TOPIC TUESDAY

Since so many of us are using upcoming trips to Disney World as our inspiration for healthy eating, let's talk...

EATING at DISNEY

562812

Do you retain your healthy eating while there, or are you on "vacation"?
What are some of your tips for healthy eating while you're there (if you do it)?
What is your favorite snack? Favorite meal? Favorite restaurant?

And bonus points for posting a trip picture or two, to get us inspired... double points if it is of food!

My biggest healthy “eating” tip (and a budget tip) would be to ask for a cup of ice water at quick service locations. It’s free and keeps you well hydrated (although now you have to sit still...I used to get one an walk around with it and make sure it was finished before getting on the next ride).

Ever since our first when we had burger and fries or nuggets and fries for every single lunch, I’ve searched out better quick service meals. This is one of my favorites...Be Our Guest kids meal for lunch.

Seafood is another good option in Disney. We enjoy Cape May Cafe and all you can eat crab legs!

But for the most part, I eat what I enjoy while I’m on vacation;)

(“Spikey Pineapple” from Polynesian is a favorite!)

I most definitely indulge on vacation. Cinderella's Royal Table Breakfast, Stuffed French Toast is my favorite, but I have no photo. 'Ohana Breakfast is my close second.
No photo description available.

California Grill Dinner ties with Narcoossee's for my favorite. Cali Grill appetizer, main course, and dessert takes us hours to eat, but we really enjoy the fireworks as the grand finale.

We usually travel in the summer, so it’s hot. So we often share a meal at the counter service restaurants. I often get an appetizer and salad for dinner. Breakfast is usually on our balcony (peanut butter toast and fruit). But, honestly, most of the time I just order what I want. I probably have more ice cream on a 10 day trip than I do 6 months at home!
My best tip is to get back to your eating plan as soon as you get home and don’t get on the scale for a week!

One of my favorites-Grey Goose Slushie!

I go into every trip thinking that with so many choices I'm going to eat so healthy, but with so many choices it soon goes astray. I've had trips where my only sweet treats were daily Minnie frozen strawberry bars and trips where I picked up a mint chocolate chip fudge sundae at the POP ice cream counter every evening and devoured it in the room. This upcoming trip I'm determined to eat well, which means as little sugar as possible.

Flying Fish is a favorite, I'm planning on it being open by the time I go in September and heading over for a walk-up dinner at the bar for my first night. This is the Crispy Fried Oyster dish I had there twice during my last trip, it was so good.

And the best cup of soup I've ever had. The waitress at Hollywood Brown Derby brought it to me as a treat, and it sure was. Sweet Potato with Pomegranate seeds.

Goofy at Garden Grill, my favorite character meal.

The beef and sweet potato hash at Satu'li, a must have each trip.

And a pretty shot of the golf ball for good measure.

I'm definitely in "vacation" eating mode, but:

I do try to make sure to still have some fruits and vegetables!

What is your favorite snack? Favorite meal? Favorite restaurant?

I don't really have a favorite snack. I tend to go with moods on that one.

Favorite meal is probably breakfast. - I love Mickey waffles!! (...and breakfast buffets in general, back in the day.)

I like lots of different restaurants as well, but my favorite last trip was probably Skipper Canteen - it was "new to us" and I had the Kungaloosh! dessert. :thumbsup2

(A few pics from that trip are here, but I don't think there are any food ones.)
