February 2014 Car Rental Deal Watch

I hope these prices go down at some point.. The best deal I have so far is Feb 16-25th through Alamo at $477.00.. (Military rate) Last year during the Easter week for 11 days I paid $230.00 through Thrifty.. Oh please come down car rates...:worship::worship::worship:

Ikr:confused3 I don't usually pay more than $200 for 2 weeks for a compact for our dates. But I also know that I won't be finalizing my reservation until the coupon codes for those dates come out with Alamo -- we almost always use the weekly rental code. And I have snagged a couple of specials closer to our dates in the past (one year I made the reservation the night before we left, less than 12 hours before we were due to arrive in Orlando but I'm hoping I can get something I'm comfortable with a long time before that)

I actually do know somebody who went to Ohio State so I'm wondering.....

If you are coming in for the weekend (Princess 1/2) Dollar has a great rate if you return by 9am monday. I got a midsize for just under $100. It's the best rate I've found. It was listed under specials/"special weekend rates".

Just booked a mid size SUV through Dollar with the code 5CO6E for Pres Week. I loathe Dollar, but may cave in b/c nothing else is close. I did keep my Alamo res for 249 just in case.

THANK YOU for the heads up on this...I just re booked and saved over $100.00 using Thrifty which is a Dollar counterpart.... I have had nothing but good things to say about Thrifty in the past 5 times we have used them... Hoping the prices still go down but it is getting better thanks to you.. :)

After looking for about a week or so, here's the best that I've come up with for Feb 8-17 9 whole days for whatever class of car is best value:

Budget: $225
National: $258

Way too high for my liking so hopefully we see some downwards movement in the next couple of weeks!

Which car class for those prices? $225 for 9 days is pretty darn good (unless you are talking compact...)

Budget - Econobox
National - Midsize (so Emerald Aisle)

I am spoiled from always travelling in off-season so over $200 is like a whole new world to me!!

OUCH!!! $200 or more is crazy. I usually go on Feb and never pay more that $115 for a midsize for a week. But then again I don't book my car until the Tues before my trip. That's because Tues is the day they release last minute car rate.
So be patient and keep looking you should be able to get it much cheaper.

This gives me some hope! I am currently booked with dollar for $200 for the first week of Feb and would love to get it down!

I think it's the 9 days that is driving up the price. Weekly rates are usually cheaper and then adding extra days drives up the price. $115 for a week would be amazing. I'll have to keep checking...

Curious - Who have your rented from to get that $115 rate in February? I will have to keep checking. My trip is Feb 7-13, and the best I've been able to get is National using Emerald club and $25 coupon - total $210.

Yep 9 days so that is $25/day all in for the least expensive option.....for an Economy!! :furious:

Ok I will try to be patient now. :cloud9:

Just checked Alamo and they have the $25 off weekly rentals coupon out til feb 24th... if your original rental was going to be more than $175 per week. Not good for a compact but somebody here may be able to use it.

We'll use it for a mid size SUV if the rates on those come down enough.

Coupon code: AD2893AND
