February 16, 2013 WONDERful 5-Night Western Caribbean ~ out of Port of Miami

Hello All! My Name is Ashley and I will be joining you all on the Disney Wonder in Feb. I am SO EXCITED! I will be going with my husband and three children along with my mother, sister, uncle, cousins, and grandparents :-D We'd all like to join the fish extender exchange if someone would like to give me the details. I've already started getting somethings together :p This is my third disney cruise but I haven't been since I was a child. It was the single most memorable part of my childhood though and so I am very anxious to share this with MY children :-D i look forward to meeting all you wonderful people :-) Have a great day - Ashley Shruga:hyper:

Welcome aboard! Look forward to meeting you

Hey, we're non-DVC timeshare owners too :). We own at a resort in PA but we trade off frequently (ok, all the time) for Orlando/Kissimmee. In August, we're staying a week at Liki Tiki Village! I can't wait, it's relatively new and I am excited to see a ts-resort that I've never seen before.

We have stayed at Star Island Resort, Calypso Cay, Celebrity Resorts (my least favorite), Magic Tree, Blue Tree, Parkway International (my favorite so far), and there's another one off of 192 that I can't remember, it's a huge high-rise, ultra- luxury-type resort.

I <3 the DVC resorts best, though, but since we'll never own enough points to visit as much as we like + cruise, the non-DVC ts's are the next best thing!

You have to try Vistana Resort, we love it! and every unit is newly refurbished

Wow! How did I miss all the action! Welcome to all the newbies!

I am MamaShruga's Grandma! We will be on board with Ashley and her family along with a total of 14 members of our clan. We would love to be part of this group! Ashley is the creative member of our group and she is already plotting ways to keep the rest of us busy making fish extenders! What a fun idea!

My last trip on the Wonder was probably 10 years ago and I don't remember anything like that - so this sounds like lots of fun for our family!

Our group has two 10 year old girls, two six year old girls, one five year old girl, and one three year old boy!

Any idea of the number of people in our group yet??

I like the FB, however, I don't see that many over there yet - come on folks, or would you like to discuss from this site? Max, are you willing to be the coordinator of this group? You have my vote!
Anxious to hear from everyone!

Hi Lois...Welcome aboard. I hope this board picks up, I have never been on a cruise thread where it is so quiet or with so few people. I am surprised especially since it is a school break week in NY. I look forward to getting to know you and the family, it is so excited when you go as a group. I am traveling with my BFF Laura, she has never been on a Disney cruise, and my daughter Samantha who is dreading the day she turns 18 and can't go to the teen club anymore.

Hi, Ashley, I feel as if I already know you lol. When I "met" you on Fb, I figured I must have missed the email notification that there was a new post here, and I did lol.

Your kids (and you, and your whole family:dance3:!) are really going to enjoy the cruise:cheer2:

My dh (Mark) and I <3 DCL and <3 the FE too :). I already know what we're doing for it, too. But it's a secret:ssst:.

Hi, Lois (from Michigan) :), I <3 that sign-off! The FE is so fun, I love the concept and participating too, I cannot wait for this cruise!

Your group sounds like a lively bunch, oh that little 3yo boy, he must be so spoiled LOL.

So far, we're a small group, but now you have almost doubled us :). We were approximately 8 adults and 13 kids (more or less, because we don't have everyone's demographics yet, but I think we should rectify that real soon!)

I don't mind coordinating but I think I might need a little help, I'll post on that over on Fb :). Thanks for your vote:angel: though :).

Some of us are livlier than others - me, not so lively!! Love to watch, tho! My husband and I have enjoyed river cruising as we got older, and we have taken our grandchildren with us as well, but only one at a time! Now we have a bunch of "young uns" again and decided it was time to do the Disney thing again. Actually Ashley's first trip with us was on "The Big Red Boat" - we took all of our kids and grandkids and they all cried when they had to leave the ship. I don't think I'll ever forget how much fun we had on that trip!

Anyway, here we are with the next generation I will be there with my daughter, my granddaughters and my great-granddaughters!! Sweet!

For anyone that is interested, I have started a list on Google Doc - you are welcome to tweek it, add to it, or do anything you wish to it - I was just anxious to get it going!

I would like to nominate Max to be Chairman of our group as she seems to have the most experience - any seconds??

I don't mind secretarial unless someone else wants that spot!

How about social director?

Who else do we need Max?

Max should def be chairperson!

I am keeping the FE list for our Fantasty cruise this September and did it for our Dream cruise last September. I am happy to do it again, if you need someone. I had an interesting exeperience this time around.....not sure if we should set up some guidelines from the start....like max. number of cabins, cut off date etc.?

Hi Everyone, I have a list started in Google Docs and it is posted in FB, however I have to have 10 posts to list it on here, so hang in there, I'll have my ten posts up in no time!
Lois

Are Y'all getting excited?? My great grandkids are counting the "holidays" before the trip! I bought three of the little girls some luggage for their birthdays just for the trip, and of course, they have used it for overnite trips at least a dozen times already - hope they are still in good shape by February!

An "interesting experience" hmmm - can you shed some light on this - or is it better left alone  ::yes:: I would prefer to iron out wrinkles before the trip!

I would love to get the list posted here - anxious to see how many people in total we have already!

We have a 3 year old and 5 year old - would like to do something with either dolphins or something with animals - any suggestions?

Lets just say some people did not want a cut off date, some did, some wanted a max number of cabins, some wanted unlimited. Some people only wanted to post on one thread, and not another. Some familes that had multiple cabins, they didn't want to do a gift for each cabin...the list goes on. But the 2 biggies in my opinion are max number of cabins and a cut off date!!

Alot of them were/are first time cruisers on DCL and new to FE and I don't think they realized (or have realized since we sail in a few weeks) how fast the number of people added up and how much stuff it is going to end up being, bringing it to the ship and then home, and how much it costs!

Trying to use up my 10 posts so I can post the LIST! Anyway, I would like to take my grandchildren on the submarine ride - is it hard for an old lady to climb down into that little tube? I think I remember going on it many years ago - not sure if I am agile or thin enough now????

Do the dolphin encounter in Chakanaub....however you spell it!

You make some very valid points. I have been looking around at various sites and I was amazed at the extent of creativity and also at the expense some folks have incurred to participate.

I am willing to go along with whatever rules you think are helpful - rules are good!
Lois

That dolphin encounter sounds interesting and fun - I will definitely check it out and perhaps there are some other families with little ones that would like to join us! I am going to spend some time next week studying all of the options - then figuring out how much $$$ I have to save up!
