Hi Everyone,

I've been to Disneyland several times, but to Disneyworld only once. We'd like to plan a trip for 2012.

I am reading conflicting reports about crowd levels and hoping you can help.

My kids are on vacation President's Week in Feb. and we usually get the 3rd week in April off for Spring Break. Next year Easter is April 8th (if that makes a difference)

If you had to choose one or the other weeks-and the only consideration was crowds, which would you choose?

Our schools are off for spring break next year April 9-13. If your vacation falls after this week I would go then. If this is your week, then I would choose Feb.

I would absolutely recommend a trip in February. April is known to be one of the busiest months, due to the fact that most schools are closed for Easter/Spring Break. February is my preferred month to go and the lines are fabulous and the weather is usually pretty nice. Feb. gets my vote! :thumbsup2

i've done both and liked april better. we did the last 2 weeks of april last year, temp was perfect and crowds were actually pretty low. we did feb. in 05 and it was during a cold snap and crowds were insane. that being said were braving the possible cold and heading down the 11th next week. on top of that, due to the cold you'll have to pack more, a friend who lives 2 hrs from disney said pack layers, we are and also taking small blankets for the kids and of course hoodies to stay warm(coats will already be on us when we leave the snow and cold behind here).

Layers are always best at this time of year for Florida. When we go in Feb., I usually am wearing jeans, a t-shirt, a long-sleeve t-shirt and a hoodie. There have been mornings when I would actually put gloves on too. Although, I am usually cold - I'm the person who takes a hoodie to restaurants in the summer since I hate the cold AC.

Take layers and be safe. :thumbsup2

The crowds will be approximately the same for either the February or April weeks you mention. So, I'd go with February if you live in a climate where its nice to get away from the winter cold. Otherwise, chose April and enjoy the Flower and Garden Festival.

I've done both and I would definitely pick April! Both weeks will be crowded since they are school vacation weeks. (The rest of Feb. is pretty quiet, Pres. week is not.) April tends to have better weather and The Flower and Garden Festival. The prices are almost always lower April vacation week than they are Pres. Week. (The exception would be when April vaca. falls around Easter which it does NOT next year as you mentioned.) Also, in 2012, Mardi Gras is on Tues. Feb. 21st. which I am guessing is Pres. week. When they two coincide, Pres. week can be extremely crowded as you will now have northerners and southerners with the same vaca! If you asked about 2011, I would say February, but if past trends are true, my vote is for April Vacation all the way in 2012!:thumbsup2

Thank you all for your input. I'm not sure if it's made my decision any easier, but I appreciate hearing all the viewpoints. Also, good point about Mardi Gras. So much to consider...

I'm from a temperate climate (WA state) and don't like the heat at all. High 70's hits the top of my comfort level.

How warm is it generally in April? Maybe I should not only be considering crowds, but also weather?

Anyone else care to weigh in?

This can vary of course, but most late Aprils that I have been (I usually visit my grandparents in SW FLA every year) have been in the high 70's- high 80's but no humidity yet so quite pleasant.

February varies widely - I've hit everything from 40's to 80's during Pres. Week.

definetley, i heeded my friends advice and its almost all packed...i froze on some days back in 05....never again! i dont care if i look like an imbomibable snow woman im gonna be warm! lol

I think the crowds will be the same for the days you mentioned (Feb is generally less crowded than Apr, but you are going during presidents week, which is generally more crowded than other weeks in Feb). I would choose April. The weather is February is very unpredictable. We went during a cold snap in February and we were miserable. Disney World is not really designed for cold weather IMO (lots of shade, very few places outside to get warm). You can still get cold snaps in April, but you are more likely to get nice weather. I vote for April!
