Feb. Member Event at Doorway to Dreams (Updated p.11 with incentives)

Our family was one of the lucky winners of a vacation at the August event...we go in March! Other giveaways were extra one-time use points, gift cards, and artwork from Animal Kingdom.

did you have to pay a gift tax on what you won?? What kind of room did they give you? How much were the gift cards for? sorry I am nosey!!

The value of our trip (estimated, not actual) was taxed on a 1099 as miscellaneous income. Disney gave us a separate check to help cover the taxes, but that is taxed, too, so it will probably still cost us about $1500 in taxes to accept the prize. If we had booked the prize package on our own using full rack rates for the 1 bedroom villa, and the actual cost of our UAL airfare Disney booked, plus the value of the park tickets and gift card, it only added up to about half what the reported tax value was, but I'm certainly not complaining!

The sweepstakes prize was for four nights in a one bedroom villa, air, park tickets, and a $1500 gift card.

We're going to Saturday's. We're almost definately planning planning to buy. Anyone else?

I can't wait until after Thursday's show to hear what the incentives are! Please, someone post them right away!

My DD won a $100 gift card, which she plans on using on our cruise in June. When we finally got our invite, all that was left was Thursday night or Sunday night, so we chose Thursday night, which means she can't attend. Hopefully I'll keep the winning streak going in her absence!:)

LOL oh your not going to win thursday cause I am going to win Thursday!!! See you there!!!

Can you enter the Improv through the mall or do you have to enter from the outside? :confused3 We are hoping to eat dinner at Rainforest first and walk over.

In addition to the gift bags last year, I remember that they gave away one vacation at WDW...any idea whether that might be the case again?

The Grand Prize Giveaway trips were last August in honor of the one year anniversary of the Doorway to Dreams opening. I don't think they will be doing that this time, though I could be wrong. I was the winner on August 2!

Hi, almost time for your trip!

You will need to enter from the outside at the main entrance. At least that is how it was last summer.

Rainforest is directly below the mall door you would need to use to get back outside to get to the Improv.

I need to clarify my other reply....

there are 2 mall doors you can use to get back outside to the Improv. The one above Rainforest is the mall door that is between PF Changs and Texas De Brazil. It's also the door closest to the Disney Store.

The other door is a little closer to the Improv, but both are very convenient.

we need help.
we are going saturday at 10:00. The mall doesn't open until 10:00. Anyone familiar with Woodfield- where should we park to get into the mall before then? Where is the closest "mall" door to the Improv? We are from out of town and aren't familiar with it. We don't want to be walking in late, DH hates to be late to anything, always early. TIA!

If you park somewhere between Lord and Taylor and PF Chang's/Sears you should be able to get in the mall doors just to the left of the Improv entrance a bit early. From that parking area, you can easily see that Improv entrance pictured in the photo in previous posts. You should not have trouble parking there if you get there a before the mall opens. Because it sprawls so, it's hard to give compass type directions, but basically it's on the southern/eastern side of the mall, closer to Woodfield Rd than Golf Rd. Still, if you are anywhere on the mall property, just drive the perimeter road until you can see both Lord and Taylor and Sears...between them is PF Chang's, and to the left of Chang's is the Improv entrance. We'll be there before 10, too...was just at DTD yesterday and learned all events are full or overbooked, so not a great idea to get there late!

Full or overbooked?

Thanks for that, we will make sure we are there on time!

Can anyone tell me more what to expect?

We've never been to a Doorway to Dreams event before. We're going to Saturday's event. I'm a little nervous because this will be our first outing with our new baby. She'll be 4 weeks old that day. We're also bringing our 4 yr old and almost 3 yr old. I'm hoping there won't be any problem with the two older ones going to the kids party (even though one is not quite 3 yrs old.)

We're going because we want to add-on and assume this will be the best time (incentive-wise) to do it.

Any tips on how to get out of there quickly? We obviously need to make the purchase. Don't know how this goes, but someone had mentioned a possible long wait.

Also has anyone been that has nursed a child. I'll bring a cover-up, but just wondering if anyone knows if there are any accomodations.

Any tips of any kind on how to navigate this event with two little kids and a newborn would be great!

Looking forward to it! But also a little nervous.

Dont be a little bit nervous:)

We have been before, last August. Our DD was about 26 mths old..she wasnt able to stay in the "nursery" , she wasnt potty trained. So she sat with us, we brought her things to be entertained with.
CM's also had coloring books and crayons for kids sitting with parents..

They certainly kept the kids entertained in the kids area, and that is where the characters were after the presentation was over. We entered then, and DD had the best on on one time EVER!! It was amazing!
Not sure how this event will be, however the one we attended was well planned out.
There was a special room armed with CM's for the purchaser's, IF you know you will be adding on, mention it to one of the CM's walking around, they will get you to a CM before the presntation is over and it does get crowded.
(That was the protocol we saw last time)
There were restrooms available...not sure about nursing accomodations as it is a comedy club:laughing:
It doesnt last too long so maybe your little one will be ok til its over:) COngrats!!!
The baby may sleep through the whole thing!:wizard:
We are attending the 4 pm event on Sat.

For anyone absolutely confused or nervous about finding the Comedy Club, here's a tip.

Arrive a little bit in advance of your originally intended time (give yourself an extra 10 minutes). Find the Sears (the east end of the mall). Start driving clock-wise from there, and "cling" to the outside of the mall as much as possible (not the outer drive "ring"). The comedy club isn't really too hard to find, but parking...well, that's a different situation. :headache:

Good luck everyone - hope to see some of you on Friday night! :goodvibes
