Feb. Member Event at Doorway to Dreams (Updated p.11 with incentives)

The fact that Southwest refunds on price drops is one of the thing I like about them, I got back $120 x 6 passengers back on my March tickets to Disney. Which I applied to tickets to Vegas which has also dropped so I have another $265 credit for future travel. Things I don't like about SW, however, was the cattle call (which they have fixed, I haven't flown them since they changed the boarding procedures) and the fact that they fly out of Midway. O'Hare is considerably more convenient for me.

I'll be there tomorrow AM, snow or no snow. Not going to add on just get a llittle Disney fix before we head down next month. BTW last I heard there will only be 2-4" overnight with another 1-3" tomorrow. They usually do a pretty good job of clearing the roads of overnight snowfall.

Hey WhiteSoxFan: How can a Sox fan from the NW burbs complain about driving to MDW? :cool1: By the way, the only way you'd catch me at the Cell this summer would be June 26 - 28 to see the Cubbies give the Sox a good old-fashioned licking! :dance3:

Another thing about Southwest: If you download their DING program, it pops up almost every day with usually lower fares to selected destinations. If there is a cheaper fare on the DING offer, you can cancel your original reservations, book the cheaper, and keep the money in your credit account. When my son got married in Seattle a couple of years ago, and I was covering travel of 8 folks, I really made out like a bandit doing this. Unfortunately they haven't had any DING fares to Orlando, Tampa, or Ft. Lauderdale for our VB trip the end of March. Fares, however, did come down for a few days and I took advantage of that.

And another good thing - on SW you can still check 2 bags for FREE... plus you still get a free non-alchoholic beverage on board, plus free snacks, and they still offer blankets and pillows... you can't say that about most of the other airlines today. And the "new" boarding procedure (been over a year now, so not really new) - works really well... much better than the old sit and wait for hours deal that it used to be.

Is the snow falling in Chicago yet? I just checked a weather map and it shows it's still just on the way, but maybe it just hasn't been updated yet... hopefully everyone traveling today will be safe.

I'm in the western burbs it just started up again. I think we got around 4 inches last night

Maybe the snow will keep most people away from the mall and we can get close parking :thumbsup2

I had to clean a bunch of it off of my car before leaving for work this morning, so it's here. And the roads were pretty slow moving.

I figured the weather map was wrong, so figured I'd ask those actually in it...

I have to jump in here. 101 years. Nuff said.

Snow still coming down at a good rate in the northern burbs. We don't go until tomorrow night though, so I am hoping the roads are cleaned off by then. Did anyone actually add on (or buy) so far - and did the incentives make the difference for you?

Tonight we were given a rice krispie treat on a stick with a chocolate 'hat" when we first walked up to the "dessert area", we had a ton of cookies to choose from (DS said his was so hard he was afraid he would break a tooth before he broke the cookie), ... There were a few mickey rice krispie treats (with sticks and no chocolate).:

Ok do you think there will be any Mickey rice krispie treats left by the Sunday 7 p.m. show and how hard will they be by then? :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl::rotfl2:

Only a Cubs fan would chime in about something so silly...all the Sox fan's will be waiting to see the Cubbies get there "licking" during the playoffs if they even get that far this year...101....

I live in the Northwest suburbs as well and the drive to O'hare is much easier so we just started using Soutwest mainly for their luggage policy as I have a son with special needs who requires a bit of extra luggage. I am also impressed at the service they provide us, someone has usually come up to us as we are getting to the gate to ask us what our needs are.

We will be attending tomorrow and I am looking forward to getting any information about RCI as I am not familiar with that at all. Anything else will just be icing on the cake.

The ability to take a cruise thru next december plus the RCI trip got us to add on at BLT. It was a fun time.

I attended the D to D event for members on Thursday evening. It was a great event; very nicely done. I did not add on any points at the event.

Can anyone tell me the current add on incentives for ALL members? (i.e. NOT the D to D event incentives) I'd like to compare the incentives.

Thanks!

I found him quite funny!

Well... :confused3 um... :confused3 Oooookaaaaay...

When thinking of the :wizard: Wish Meister:wizard: I wouldn't use the word "funny." By funny could you mean "unusual," "odd," or "strange?"

Ms. DVC, oh Ms. DVC, how wrong I was about you. Please forgive all the terrible things I have said about you over the years. Come back - please!!

To those who have never seen the :wizard: Wish Meister:wizard: picture a creature unlike anything else on earth. His personality seemed to be a combination of Charles Nelson Riley and Uncle Arthur (from Bewitched), and he dresses like a combination of The Mad Hatter and Liberace! :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

I actually thought the Wish Meister was pretty funny. I liked him better than Dee Vee Cee. He made a funny Oprah reference when he was handing out the passport holders.

We went to the 10am event. Had a great time with some friends and all our kids. Tink was awesome! My son had a Peter Pan costume on, but didn't want to get in line to see her. She saw him standing over in the hall and actually begged him to come over and take a picture with her. I think her handler must have had Tink's camera bc he was taking pictures of them together. So sweet!

Here's the thing - and I KNOW I am going to sound, like, so ungrateful when I say all this. But my DH actually won the drawing for the RCI 7 day vacation this morning. We were SO, SO excited abt it as anyone would be. Until we got home to access the website to see what destinations were options. Basically all we could find available were Canada in December, Myrtle Beach in February, Indiana......catching my drift here? ANd I checked a billion destinations during all differnt times of year. My DH said we just need to keep checking, but I just have a squashed feeling that this big prize is not going to be worth the airfare or gas to even get us to any available destination. I'm totally bummed out after being so excited over winning something I thought was going to be awesome. I hope my DH is right and that we can call them and get some assistance finding something nice, but if not, I will not have good feelings about RCI, that's for sure.

Indiana? What's wrong with Indiana? I live in Indiana! Who doesn't want to visit Indiana Dunes in February?
Catching my drift here?
;)

Come to think of it, it's not that exciting living here either...especially in winter during lake effect snow squalls!
:rotfl:

We were at the 4 pm event....geared towards non members.....dnt know why we got the flier that was for non members?..We never received an email..I actually learned abt here first of course!

I did get a pic of that person that was described...I think he is Dee Vee Cee's boytoy...not sure!
Anyway, crowd was somewhat subdued....

They attempted to get the audience excited...my DD2 1/2 went on stage for a minute, the CM didnt realize Mr WM was on his way out...lol
ANyway, she blew a kiss to everyone while onstage so we had our little moment:)
They did hand out the binoculars, more of those DTD travel bags (from August)...liike the legal pad binders....

Again, character meets were awesome....Mickey and Minnie having a dance party was fun....DD really liked the COOKIE TABLE...lots of cookies!

Hope there are some rice krispy treats left for you SUnday folk...lol...the Improv gals gave us more on the way out, even the choc covered ear ones!!

We did not add on, as we were not intending to. WIth our Wisconsin place, and our cruise next year, we are sitting ok with what we have:)

Hope some here take advantage of the incentives!!!

I guess we got spoiled when we joined in 07 with the DDP!! (double developer pts)

*****Forgot something important*****

The drawing......a framed Mickey print that is in the BLT rooms.......that's it.....no trip...nothing....

Nothing of course against Indiana! But right now, I want to get as far from the Midwest weather as possible! So sick of the cold. I actually felt for the FL DVC people that had to come here this weekend.
