Do you anticipate that car rental rates for MCO will lower next week for the first week in Feb.? I see rates just a couple of weeks before mine at about 1/3 of the price I am looking at for a rental in early Feb. for 10 days. Does everyone wait until a couple of weeks before arrival date before booking. I am getting paranoid that I'll end up paying a huge amount and then the rates will drop. Any ideas from those that are frequent travellers and car renters. Thanks.

I have a mid sized car booked with Alamo for the first week (7 days) of February for $134 including taxes and fees.

I am happy with that, but last year just before we went I got a mid-size (emerald aisle) with National for $128 for 10 days taxes in. Since it was emerald aisle we were able to pick our car and got a Town and Country 7 seat mini van.

I also book the best price and then cancel my reservation if I see something better, so I am not "stuck" with a high rate.

You are renting a car, not buying airline seats. If a better rate comes along, cancel the first one and go with the better one. Also bear in mind that you're getting close to a busy time in Orlando with the President's Day holiday, so bargains may be hard to come by.

We will be there Jan 28-feb4 and paid $122 for a full size with advantage rental.

Something to look at is priceline or something that gives you all of the companies, and prices, and then call the company direct or google for codes and go online. Thats what we did and it was WAY cheaper then going with most companies.

With Alamo using Costco ID 7014627 and E-Coupon AD2359FDF for $35.00 off total for a standard is $105.46. You can pick from full size aisle since there is no standard aisle at orlando airport.

With Costco all I get is Budget or Avis as a choice to rent through

I looked on the site again, and this price was only valid for US residents, but hey its worth a try!

I've had at least 8 reservations altogether for our trip, all with Alamo. You can book as many as you like until you get a price you can live with or you actually have to leave for your trip. I've gotten good rates through Expedia.ca in the past and added my Alamo coupons after I booked. This time I booked as an alamo insider and got my best rate that way. You just have to play around with it, re-check the rates at different times of the day, and every day til you're happy.

I stick with Alamo since I know the coupons there best -- and we've decided to take ME to and from WDW, so we only have a car mid-trip and are picking up from CCC. It doesn't always work best that way, but this time it did.

as long as you haven't pre-paid you're good to cancel :thumbsup2

But I should add, always have one good reservation booked so you have a fall-back in case something crazy happens and everything goes up.

As other posters have stated, keep checking the prices and cancel if you get a better deal. We are going during President's Week and the prices are outrageous (over $1500 for 12 days for a full size crossover). I tried several codes/combinations but they were still quite high. We arrive in Orlando around 6pm so I thought we may try the Magical Express this time. If we pick up our car the next morning at the Dolphin (rather than at the airport upon arrival) and return it the day before we leave, again at the Dolphin, we saved a huge amount of money--over $1000! You may want to look at different pickup locations if you can.
