This was the first cruise DH and I had ever taken and we enjoyed it.
We have no kids and all of our friends kept saying why are you doing a Disney cruise where there will be lots of kids running around. Well the kids were not a bother at all. We did not feel like we were surrounded by kids.
There are so many things for adults to do on the cruise such as:
Wine tasting-we learned all about different types of wine and sampled 5 different wines
Coffee and chat with the cast members to find out what it is like to live and work on the boat- which by the way they never get a day off and work as many as 16 hours a day!
Behind the sceens tour of the boat & question and answer session- This was a slide show of the engine room presented by the two head CM of the engine room. After the slide show we able to ask questions. DH and I noticed that every port we docked at, they would power wash the boat. Well we learned that the water to wash the boat down with comes from the condensation that the air condtioning produces and they collect the condensation and reuse it to wash the boat.
Well I won't go into detail about the other things we did but here is a list of things adults could do:
Beer tasting
Napkin folding
How to make towel animals
Cooking demo
Sports trivia
Bingo- they gave away money and diamond jewerly. You can buy a game board which has 3 squares or one that had 6 sqaures. Each round of Bingo there are 5 games played. And I believe Bingo was offered every night.
Each night in the Wavebands bar they featured a different era of music and the CM dressed up and preformed music from the 60's - 70's & 80's.
There was an adults only comedy show one night.
Ice carving.
Our overall experience:
The ship looked brand new when we stepped on board. You can tell that Disney takes great pride in the appreance of there ship. The CM were always painting something, washing down the deck, applying fresh teak oil to the wood. The work 24 hours a day to make the boat shine. The last night of our cruise around 10pm they drained the family pool and they were painting it! Don't worry the kiddie pool was still open as well as the adult pool. The bathrooms through out the ship were always very tidy and clean. We were very impressed with the appearance of the boat both inside and out.
As far as controlling the spread of disease, there were plenty of hand wipes and purell stations at each dining location.
Our stateroom 7501 which was at the front of the boat was a very quite room. Right outside our room was a door which lead to the staterooms for Captains and to the pool that the crew uses. So you might think that there would be a lot of traffic in and out of that door, but there wasn't.
Our hostess was Willy and she did a great job!!! She cleaned our room in the morning and again at night. We always had plenty of ice and toiletries. When everyone goes to diner your host or hostess will tidy up your room turn down your sheets and leave you surprises,(different towel animals and chocolates), when you return. She was very eager to answer any questions we had. She would ask how we enjoyed our day or asked if we slept well or if there was anything we needed.
As for diner we only ate in the dinning room twice. We skipped the first day because by the time we make Palo's reservation and signed up for the wine tasting, we didn't get around to eating lunch till 2:30 and we had first dinning rotation which was at 6 pm and were not hungry. We skipped the last dinning rotation because we had eaten bunch at Palo's and again we were not hungry at diner time. So if you skip dinner you can get pizza, hot dogs, taco's, chicken fingers, chicken sandwiches, hamburgers or veggie bugers on deck 9.
I highly recommend the bunch at Palo's there was so much food to pick from and the presentation of it was wonderful. It was a nice romantic time. And they don't rush you they want you to seat and relax and have a great time.
On deck 9 the whole back half of the ship is for adults only. There are signs posted stating that you have to be 18 or older past this point and the crew does a great job enforcing this rule. A couple had brought there little one who was about 1 year old, into the adults pool area and they no sooner got settled and they were asked to leave. There is also a newly added Cove Cafe that was built when the Wonder dry docked on Oct. It is a nice place to have a cup of coffee or an adult beverage and relax.
We had a great time on Castaway Cay. I went to the adults section to lay out in the sun and relax. DH joined me later after he spent time down in the family area where he road a water trike which is a bike with huge plastic wheels that you pedal out in the water with. The price was $15 for 30 minutes.
Well I have given you a little taste of how much fun a Disney cruise without kids can be. So if you have any questions please ask.
