I have this fear of our first day getting to the parks early for rope drop and our magic bands not working. Hence, needing to go to information to get it sorted out and losing a lot of time. Anyone else have that fear or had any problems with their magic bands?

Same. We've not had any significant issues with MB. Sometimes it's a bit tricky to line up MH to MH but that's it. Knock on wood, MB have worked for us.

Even if it doesn't work the first time, there are cast members with pads, takes maybe seconds for them to correct it and you are on your way!

Ours worked flawlessly last Dec. 7 day park hoppers, added a extra day after we got there, Xmas party one night, reservations, only problem we had was preordered BOG lunch was lost, not reservation just the meal order, no problem, ordered at the check in line and we were good to go.

No, not really. We've had an issue a couple of times with our AP's. It was sorted out quickly.

We did have a problem twice with my husband's magic band (besides the having to rescan). Twice for some reason it would just not take his, the CM just raised their hand and a CM with an Ipad came over and in a few minutes he was fixed and we were on our way :) This was during the testing in October 2013 though, but I would not worry about your MB not working. The biggest tip I could give is once the white light circle starts spinning after putting Mickey to Mickey, go ahead and do your finger. You do not have to wait for it to turn solid. We had better luck doing it that way and learned that 1/2 way through our trip. DH had no problems after that.

I'm having a bit of this fear as well right now. We originally booked with a 5 day park hopper tickets and I cancelled the park hopper option, but because it wasn't within the 45 day window we were charged for cancelling. Anyway, now on MDE it's showing our tickets, but it no longer says "5 day" before the base ticket.

Mine did not work in January. My wife's did.

The process was corrected by a CM with an iPad.
It was not fast.
It was not uneventful.

It was seriously disappointing and ruined rope drop.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news... but that's exactly what happened to us last year. We got to AK 40 minutes before RD so we could beat the rush. It was the first time we had used our MBs, and sure enough they turned the Mickey head blue instead of green. Almost an hour after the gates opened, we were finally leaving guest relations and they weren't even confident that they had permanently fixed the problem.

FWIW, they blamed it on us having gotten 3rd party tickets (through UCT) and said that caused them to not link properly. They could see them under my account, but the MB scanners weren't recognizing them for some reason. But we seemed to be the only ones there at RD that had problems, so it must not be common. And they did end up giving us 2 extra FPs for the lost time.

If you have your ticket media on some sort of card, wouldn't be a bad idea to bring it the first day.

It happens to some people, but for 99% of people things work just fine.

Yeah I have this fear too, mainly cause of stories like those above. I bought our tickets from UCT and plan to bring them with us even though they seemed to be linked fine in MDE, I will be carrying the cards for backup just in case. Though I'm honestly not even sure if having the physical tickets will help or not but its not like they take up much space.

I've been using them since the testing phase and have maybe had one or two problems with FP but otherwise, knock on wood no problem. I do always go to the front desk even if I do on line check in and check in there so they can test it on their little pad there. In all honesty, the only reason I do that is I can't ever remember if I remember the pass code for charging to it correctly and need to test it.

Glitches happen but why waste energy worrying about it now? If it happens, it happens - you won't be able to do anything to prevent it beforehand. For the record, we've never had issues with MBs at all.

Fear d the unknown? Why not have something happen and then be upset it's not healthy to be afraid if it hadn't happened yet!

My bands worked no problems!

Happened to us last trip.

Band worked on first day, but was problematic the next.

If it becomes a great hassle, you may be 'reward' by a sympathetic Cast Member who can provide a few extra FP's.

Never had a issue with our AP bands. I wouldn't worry at all.

Most issues during the entrance are simply people using the wrong finger to scan or pressing too hard or too light.

 What the heck...do they know who you are!! You know Robo.. sometimes it's ok to use your celebrity status to get things done ;).

OP, it's not just the Magic Bands, I have the same anxious feeling :worried: about checking in for the flight, renting the car, checking in at the resort etc. Until everything goes as planned...everything's suspect.

Until (and if) it happens, there's nothing that can be done about it so I choose not to worry. Life is too short to live in fear.

Just don't do anything crazy like enter the park without ID and backup forms of payment.

LOL- I did this during the initial testing phase of MBs in 2013. I had used my MB to enter our resort room and also used dining credits for lunch. When we went to DHS I only took my MB feeling footloose and fancy free!

I was able to enter the park without any problems but then when I attempted to purchase a hat for my DD using my MB the payment would not go through. The CM asked if I possibly had cash or a cc with me and I said, 'Sorry no, as I understood I could make purchases with my MB.'

Her immediate response? 'Well, Mickey just bought your daughter a hat! Have a magical day!' She cut the tags off the hat, I placed it on my DD's head and we were on our way!

Yes, there can be computer and system glitches but Disney normally takes care of them quickly and efficiently. There are always exceptions to that but I believe these to be few and far between.
