FE List for DREAM - Fri Apr 15, 2016 (Nassau & CC)

Thanks! I've been posting a little today but a test site would be much faster =) I'll see if I can find it!

Thx!
Paula

You can also look through other posts and ask questions. They could also. You are more than half way there.

Hello Disney Cruisers! This is our first time cruising with Disney and I just learned about the fish extender gift exchange. I think this is such a great idea! We would love to participate! See you soon....

OK, been doing some reading and getting advice (thanks @PrincessShmoo).

If you're cruising on the Dream departing on 4/15/16 (3 days to Nassau and Castaway Cay) and you'd like to participate on a Fish Extender exchange, reply to this post.
I'll then start a private Conversation on this website and invite you. This lets us discuss slightly more personal details (first names, ages) without have it open for anyone to see. I think a Conversation can only have 20 participants, so if interest is high we will have several of them. You will only be responsible to the cabins in the Conversation in which you are included.

First time cruiser! My family would like to participate in the fish extender. I look forward to the cruise and meeting new families.

Hi, definitely late to the game here. This is our first cruise. Excited and a little nervous. Traveling with my husband and a 13 year old boy and 10 year old girl. Anyone with children of similar age?

Hello!
We are also first time cruisers traveling as a family of 4 with a 11 year old daughter and 7 year old son.

I can't believe how close it is getting! I hope you enjoy it! I am really looking forward to it! I hope we like it. Seems like a great way to visit lots of places in one trip!

It looks like no Fish Extender list exists yet for our sailing, so I guess I'm starting one.
Be kind, this is my first one.
And my first DCL cruise.
And I learned what a Fish Extender is about an hour ago.

We have two kids, and we think they'd have a total blast with this!
Hi, Is it too Late To Join the FE,

We have closed our Fish Extender a couple of weeks ago because of timing. There are three families who have inquired recently. Would the three of you like to do something together?

Late to the party, would love to participate if it's not to late to join

Sure, I have a 3 year old an i know she would love the little gifts.

Can you see the other people in the post? Maybe try to reach out to them. You have to have 10 message sent to initiate a conversation. They do not have to be all here and there is a test section. A three yr old, how cute. My youngest is 6.

Hello! I just recently found out about the FE as well. I love the idea...still willing to join a small group. My daughter is 11 and my son is 7 years old.

Sailing with my 14-year-old son next week and would like some tips and possibly join the FE. Thanks!!

CRUISE TIPS:

Dana Daham posted these Disney Cruise Tips on FB in the cruise group

1. Room Service is 24 hours and FREE. Our favorite thing to do, is order warm cookies and milk when we get back to our cabin each night. You do have to specify “warm” cookies and milk. Some things that are not on the room service menu but are available – Mickey Ice Cream Bars and Uncrustable PB&Js. We also like to order the cheese platter while we get ready for dinner.

2. You can watch pretty much any Disney movie, free of charge on your stateroom TV.

3. Rooms are not ready until 1:30. Your luggage may not arrive until much later. Pack what you need in your carry on, like swimsuits so you can use the pool and Aquaduck while you wait.

4. When the ship is at port, the stores are closed.

5. There is a late night buffet on Pirate Night for Caribbean sailings. Immediately following the Pirate Party, in Cabanas restaurant. The Crepes are kind of a big deal…

6. Do not miss the shows- they are fantastic. See at least one. Villians Tonight is awesome.

7. There is a movie theater onboard- see a first run movie for free.

8. Gratuities are included in bar purchases.

9. You can bring your own snacks and bottle water on board.

10. The Kids Clubs are AMAZING - use your Cruise Navigator to check all of the events going on at the clubs. Always read your cruise navigator (left in your room each night). So much goes on that you won’t know about otherwise.

11. Irons are not allowed onboard. There are multiple laundry rooms on every deck with irons and ironing boards. If you need to iron clothes, avoid going right before dinner because there will be a line. I suggest using the stateroom laundry services as soon as you board and get to your room. The cost for “steaming or pressing only” is pretty minimal and all of your items will be hanging in your cabin the next afternoon.

12. Palo, the adults only restaurant has a minimal fee of $30pp to dine- and is worth far more. Take advantage of the Kids Club- and book dinner at Palo! Make sure at least one of you orders the chocolate soufflé!

13. Your stateroom will provide 2 “Wave phones” for communication onboard. They are not the best- but they allow you to keep in contact with other guests and the Kids Club while onboard.

14. There is a DCL Navigator app. Download it any time before you go.

15. When you board the ship on Embarkation Day, they will immediately “guide” you toward Cabanas buffet for lunch. You don’t have to go to Cabanas. Enchanted Garden is also open for lunch and is far less busy and provides more service. You will encounter several crew members along the way who will attempt to steer you back to Cabanas…don’t be pressured :)

16. You do not need to dine in the main dining rooms if you don’t prefer to at any point. There are several fast food windows (pizza, salads, fruit, sandwiches, chicken nuggets, burgers) on the pool deck, and Cabanas is also an option in addition to room service. You may also be able to change your dinner seating time if you prefer (5:45 or 8:30)- as soon as you board, ask what time you can make changes- usually at Royal Palace, and get there early- there will be a line.

17. Soda, lemonade, and ice cream is free, but only available on the pool deck or at stations on Castaway Cay. Bring or buy tumblers for your drinks, the provided cups are pretty small. If you fill up a cup with soda, and take it to the ice cream station- you can make your own float ;)

18. Kids are not limited to the kids menu at dinner- they can order any of the adult menu items- in fact, you can order as many entrees as you like. You are not limited to one entrée or appetizer- try a few.

19. You can send a post card from Castaway Cay. Buy a post card before (on the ship or at home) Bring about $2.00 in change, they take exact. And get it stamped. It can take a month or more to get it back home. Try to do it on the way to the beach.. they are not usually there in the afternoon.

20. You can sign up for free wifi on first night of sailing – must be done before midnight or you will have to pay.

21. On Castaway Cay- Rent bikes, watch the crab races, do the Whale Dig (if small kids), and don’t miss pelican point on the far beach.

22. The Midship Detective Agency is an interactive game on the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy. Players use cards in the form of detective badges to activate “enchanted art” around the ship to find clues and missing items in order to solve a mystery. It takes approx. 1-2 hours but you can start and stop and your place will always be saved on your cards.

23. If you’re curious to know what movies will be shown on your sailing before you get on the ship, call (888) 325-2500 about two weeks before your cruise.

24. Stateroom doors are magnetic. Feel free to decorate! It will make finding your room that much easier!

25. Want to see the show, but too tired to attend? No worries. The show will be on your stateroom TV.

26. Guest Services has a Hidden Mickey challenge that will keep your kids (and you) busy.

I have also been told that if you plan on cruising again within the next two years, bring some deposit funds (like $200?) to put a deposit down on your next cruise, it's a great way to save on fares and deposits! (I think we're going to try that)

Don't forget to do your online check in and preregister for activities and the kids clubs (saves time vs doing it once you arrive)

Sorry, one more thing about the DCL "Navigator App" great tool that will work not using any roaming or data on your phone!

https://media.disneywebcontent.com/StaticFiles/DTA-Domestic/pdf/DCL/DCL_FAQ_NavApp.pdf

Also, check with your cell phone carrier regarding international plans/ cruise plans, you can purchase the Disney packages but if you want to be "safe" and avoid any accidental or roaming charges with your carrier, maybe check with them before you set sail.
