Can I still fax my requests to the room assigner at AKL? I've already put the request on my reservation with CRO, but figured a fax couldn't hurt or could it? We are leaving in a couple of days so I really should do this today if it is beneficial.

You can send it, it might get looked at and again it might not. Some resorts do not even review them anymore.

You are better to make your requests to CRO and ask again at check in.

What is CRO and how do I find a list of used abbreviations for these boards? I want to fit in :confused3 I have letter typed to send by fax for our room requests, but never thought they might not read it, not honor it, YES, but not read it--never crossed my mind! :earseek:

i have heard that they dont even look at the fax requests anymore.. what we did on our last trip was tell cro our request and then called the resort a couple of nights before we were going to arrive.just to make sure they had them

CRO is Central Reservations Office, where you call to make reservations or priority seatings.

It's more important to have your requests on your reservation record. That way if your fax is not read or not matched up with your reservation, they will still see it.

Personaly I believe faxed requests actually hurt your chances...JMO.

I read that it really peeves off the room assignor and that they don't honor them anymore.

I had faxed the room assigner 5 nights before our arrival at POR and we got exactly what I had asked for.

I have heard that some resorts don't look at the faxes any more, but POR definitely does. It can't hurt to try.

Just make sure you are asking in a nice and respectful way and realize they can only do so much.

Actually based on what I have been hearing from friends that work at Disney, is it's a little of both. Some resorts such as WL and the DVC resorts do not even look at them. They are shredded.

Some other resorts, certain CM's do look at them and as stated some CM's are just sick of them and really wish everyone would just add their requests to their reservations so when the reservation is downloaded to the resort computer its all right their together.

It was a huge hassle for the CM's to keep the faxes, then match then to the computer download. There would be hundreds daily and some pages long.

I have never sent a fax for any of our stays, and have always gotten a room that met my requests. I list them in order of what I want the most and it's on my reservation. Then when I check-in, I let them know again what it is I'm looking for. But I'm never terrible specific...I ask for non-smoking, certain bldg/area, floor level.

If your staying in a concierge room would it make sense to send the concierge a reminder fax a few days before you arrive?

Concierge is a different situation, since each Concierge area is much more limited in the number of guests that area serves. Therefore them receiving a fax would be a normal procedure and part of thier usual business. Many concierge planners prefer to be contacted by email from the guests than phone calls as they can get back to them when they are not helping a guest there at the resort.

Actually a CM from CBR posted on here recently that they do look at the faxes and in fact they pay MORE attention to faxed requests than to requests from CRO.

I have always done both- and gotten the room/location I wanted. It takes two seconds to send a fax and doesn't hurt anything. If they throw away the fax, then I'm no worse off than not sending one at all.

I don't think it'll hurt my chances either. They deal with so many, I'm sure they won't specifically remember me, right?
