The Tampa Bay Tribune reported today that Brett Favre is likely to be traded to The Tampa Bay Buccaneers within the next 24 hours. It has been a bumpy road since Favre announced his plans on "un-retiring" and attending Packers spring training. After many meetings with the Packers franchise and no resolution in sight for Brett to stay in the city he has played for so long reports say the he is going to be traded here to Florida.

I personally think Brett Favre is the second best quarterback ever (behind my boy Tom Brady!!!!) Being in the greater Orlando area would be amazing for him compared to Green Bay. The amount of people that travel to Florida compared to traveling to Green Bay is astronomical and makes sense to finish his career here because so many people would get to see this future hall of fame player at least one more season. Reports state that the New York Jets are also on the ticket for a trade for Brett but Tampa Bay has stayed in touch with Green Bay on the status of Favre the entire time. Fingers crossed on this major move happing in favor of the NFC not the AFC and make me happy by keeping Brett out of the New England Patriots division!

I can tell you that our youngest son will IMMEDIATELY become a Tampa Bay fan if, in fact, Brett ends up there. My son is a diehard Favre fan causing many arguments, rumbles in our home of Bears fans (he hates the Bears). At one point, he had his walls in his bedroom painted Packer yellow. :rotfl2: In any event, his dad asked him if Favre should come to the Bears what he would do. He said he would burn all of his Packers stuff and become a diehard Bears fan. So wherever Brett ends up, you've just picked up another fan.

I'm a Chicago Bears fan. Born and raised Chicago Bear, but I have always admired Brett Favre, and I wished the Bears had him many many times! I don't, for the life of me, understand why he would want to play his whole distinguished amazing career in Green Bay, and then end up in Tampa. It's so anti-climactic. Seedy almost. Brett Favre is a great quarterback, why would he want to footnote his career like this. They are going to give him $20 million to just go retire. HELLO?? This guy has sportscaster written all over him ala Troy Aikman and John Elway. He's not going to be poor if he retires now.

This reminds me of Michael Jordan who came out of retirement and then ended up playing for some North Carolina basketball team and ended his AMAZING career on such a flat note.

Bucs fan here... :cheer2:

We've been listening to ESPN Radio on the computer non-stop today so we don't miss the announcement (if it happens). I'm sure we don't know everything that's gone on between the Packers and Brett, and I'll never understand the drive it takes to be a professional football player.

However, as a Bucs fan... I'd love to have Brett in Tampa. Nothing against Jeff Garcia, but I think Brett would bring some intangibles to the team. Hopefully, he'll be pretty fired up and want to prove something to the world; he is also a natural leader. It's a longshot, but with the Super Bowl in Tampa this season, it would certainly make a great story for Brett to lead the Bucs all the way! pirate:

Favre is a Jet! I live near Green Bay and it is on every channel this morning. You can even buy the new "4" Jets jersey already on the Jet's website!

I am a huge bucs fan, but I can say that I am extremely relieved that bret is now a jet. I can't understand why our coach can't seem to use the same quarterback for more than one season. I really feel for garcia. I truly hope that they can get down to business and win this season

ouch I heard the news late last night while at the movies. I didnt want Favre in my Patriots division but I guess we will have to be the ones to retire him for good! I hate the Jets more than I hate the Yankees right now and thats hard a crazy statement coming from me. The headlines for the paper should read "Goodbye Chad Pennington... Hello Interception King of the World!"

On another note Favre was being delt to Tampa and NY two of the biggest tourist areas in the country. Coincidence?

I am a Packers fan and greatly saddened by the way the team handled the situation. I guess this is going to put my Packer faith to the test. Am I really a Packers fan or am I a Brett Favre fan? Hard to answer since I've only been watching football since he was the QB of the Packers

My son is planning on having a bonfire with all of his Packer stuff soon. He is very disappointed in the way the Packers handled this. He's already asked me to get him a Jet "Favre" jersey.

I don't have a "dog in this fight" (Colts fan), but I think there's plenty of blame to be had on both sides. Why should the Packers have to accept retirement talk EVERY year, a tearful FINAL retirement, then welcome him back? Again?

And why can't we have energy drinks in the Magic Kingdom?

And why as I get older can I grow more hair where I don't want it than where I do?:confused3

Well I'm from right here in the heart of Green Bay! It's been a pretty sad day for most people around here. I'm glad that the circus is over with, but really disappointed in how things all ended up. I'm a huge Packer and Favre fan. I don't think either party handled this well and it's just a shame that things ended this way between Favre and the Packers. It just seemed too weird seeing him on the news today holding up a Jets jersey with his name on it - it's just not right!

As I stated earlier, we live in Chicago area and are big Bears fans in our house--all except our youngest son (age 20). He had tears in his eyes watching Favre hold up that Jet jersey. He collected all of his Packer stuff and put it away in a box. And, yes, Mom gave in, and I've already ordered him a Jet Favre jersey. I myself will miss seeing Brett in the green and gold.

We feel really bad for Chad - he really got a raw deal :sad1:
Hopefully he'll end up somewhere and do well.

Not to make light of how Pennington (a great guy) was unceremoniously cut loose after giving so much to the Jets, but....well, I'm a smart alec...;) ...

How appropriate that CHAD, left HANGING, is most likely going to MIAMI, FLORIDA.... :rotfl:
